"Hm... I guess so. She makes things easy to understand in a short time and we're always bothering her to teach us once tests come near." One of their friends thought about it.

"You know, you wouldn't need my services if you just studied properly like you're supposed to, right?" Xuan Lingwen responded immediately.

"But it's such a drag... Besides, you're a great tutor so we don't need to anyways." Another friend slumped on top of the table said.

"Honestly, you explain some concepts even better than the teachers in charge of those subjects. It's really pity you didn't decide to skip a grade." One of the more studious looking friends acknowledged.

"Then, since everyone is in agreement, how about we pay for her time teaching us?" Bai Yaoxuan concluded.

"Um, like I said-"

"Let's go with that then. Sorry for bothering you, hope you take care of us~" The one slumped on the table raised two fingers in a victory sign.

"Oi. Don't just decide without my input. And really, there's no need. Just treat me to lunch or something." Xuan Lingwen sighed. "I don't want money to get entangled into our friendship." Though money was important for her in order to pay back Big brother Li for his investments and to feed her family, she wasn't going to become a King of Greed for it. Her mother had taught her better for one. And secondly the business was doing quite well so she wasn't in need to worry about bankruptcy or the like.

"Well, if you say so... I'll treat you and Madam for some good sushi this weekend!" Bai Yaoxuan sat down and immediately volunteered.

"Oh, then let's all go~"

"Hey! You're just trying to mooch off me!" Bai Yaoxuan turned to the girl who had spoken first after her initial outburst.

"Well, it's not like you could afford high quality sushi by yourself anyways~" The one straightening her back from laying on the table teased.

That night, as she was going home from Bai Yaoxuan's family's apartment in a more upscale part of the town, when she heard some noise from one of the alleys. As her apartment was located in the more ghetto area, it took a bit to go back from Bai Yaoxuan's place. The girls were worried about her going back, but in the end they were a group of girls, even if they went together, it might not amount to much. Anyways, she told them it was fine and considering that she had a switchblade knife in her pockets, given to her by Mr. Li, they reluctantly let her be.

The alley that she heard the gruff noises was the typical sketchy back alley, no lights from the street reached it and there were no lights emitting from inside. However, with the light from the street lamp, she could faintly make out a few shadows scuffling about in the darkness. It looked like a small group of teenage delinquents bullying a poor dude.

As she was contemplating what to do, the group of delinquents gave a final kick to the person they were bullying and left the other way.

'That alleyway leads somewhere?' Xuan Lingwen thought as she slowly slinked forward. Seeing that they were gone and weren't turning back, she went up to the person leaning against the wall.

Now that she was closer, she saw that he was quite a handsome fellow. Through the bruises on his face and blood running down his chin, she could make out the sword eyebrows and shapely jaw. His skin wasn't white as porcelain but had a healthy tan to it. His hair, though disheveled, was long and luscious, falling just past his shoulders. He was also unexpectedly fit-looking, though she wasn't sure how accurate that description was as she just saw him get beat up without much resistance. His clothes were a bit tattered but otherwise, he seemed fine.

"Hey... you alive?" Xuan Lingwen asked as she put a finger under his nose to check he was still breathing.

Hearing another voice that was not spewing abuse, the young boy opened his eyes and just looked at her with his dark orbs.

"..."

'Well, okay. He seems to see me so he's probably not severely injured. But he's not speaking... did he get a concussion or something?' Xuan Lingwen waved her hand in front of his face but his eyes didn't move from her face.

"..."

"... Well... okay.... uh... how about I bring you to my friend's place for some first aid?" She couldn't bring an injured man back to their apartment lest her mother worry.

The young boy, who seems to be around her age, still didn't reply so she took it upon herself to make the decision. She helped him stand on his feet and luckily, it seems he had enough mind to walk so she didn't have to drag him like a dead body.

When she arrived, she knocked on the door of Mr. Li's apartment, who promptly opened the door and let out a squeak in surprise.

"What?! What is that?!"

"A human." Xuan Lingwen deadpanned. "Ah, don't worry, it's not a body."

"Well, I can see that! Ha..." He sighed as he held his head as if a headache was going to come.

"You seem to be getting headaches pretty often these days, should I help you ask around for a remedy?" Xuan Lingwen asked as he stepped aside and let her in anyways.
