"How many people have made it back from these two missions?" She asked.

"..." Silence encompassed the entire group as they tried to think back about any mention of this on the mission papers.

"None. Right?" Shen Tianyu answered her own question after seeing everyone's uneasy expressions.

"B-But, that's not possible, is it? There are a lot of Demon Rats and Ghost-faced Bees and a quantity of Black Eagles but it shouldn't be that hard to run away if some people hold them off, right?" One of the unfamiliar students started panicking but still tried to hold it back.

"Exactly. This number of demonic beasts residing near only one human residence is highly unusual. So, why wasn't this information written down?" Shen Tianyu reasoned.

"Either they came in waves before this and the previous teams had dispatched those waves and called it done. Or..." She trailed off.

"They never returned alive." Rong Jian finished to drive the point home.

"But, at least the Demon Rats and Ghost-faced Bees are taken care of so let's hurry up and leave. Now!" The other unfamiliar student was on the verge of a panic breakout as he stood up and got ready to run.

"Like I said... It won't be that easy." Shen Tianyu said as she looked at the sky above the forest.

A hoard of black was rolling in like morning fog, except it was much noisier than fog. Accompanying the flapping of wings were the screeches of thousands, if not millions, of eagles.

"Look! We can take shelter in the houses of the villagers!" The panicking youth saw some villagers open the doors of their residences and rushed inside.

"Wait! Be careful!" Shen Tianyu shouted out with the intention to stop him but he didn't listen.

Moments later, the sound of bones breaking and a painful scream echoed unexpectedly loud throughout the area, even with all the noise.

"Idiot." Shen Tianyu muttered with a sigh as she turned away. One must retain their calm at all times, especially in unusual circumstances. Once you loose your cool, it was over.

Ningwu Liushan wanted to run over to the young man and see what was going on but Shen Tianyu held him back.

"There's no saving him. Rather than worry about him, why don't we worry about ourselves and how to get out of here?" Shen Tianyu grabbed tightly onto his arm as she told him.

He wanted to refute but Bai Longtian moved to stand in front of him and gave him a shake of his head. Ningwu Liushan clenched his teeth and nodded with a lowered head. Shen Tianyu let him go.

"Of course! It is the job of seniors to take care of our juniors!" Jun Wangye agreed without hesitation and even hit his chest for good measure. The other members of the team also don't seem to have any complaints about this arrangement. It was already a big display of talent for these two teams of freshmen to have held out for so long.

"Thank you Jun Wangye and seniors. I, Shen Tianyu, will be sure to pay everyone back once we get out of this predicament." Shen Tianyu gave them an obeisance as she helped the injured parties up and arranged everyone's positions and Jun Wangye's team readied their weapons.

"Jun Wangye, how should we deal with the villagers?" One of the seniors asked as he kept an eye on the approaching humans that don't seem to have any intention of helping them.

"Just kill them. It would be helpful if we could catch one or two alive for further study but I don't think our situation will allow us such leisure." Shen Tianyu answered instead.

Ming Yunyue was in the front, carrying the remaining unnamed member of Ningwu Liushan's group while Nian Yingge guarded with a sword beside her. Lun Aoman was hobbling next to Lun Chang, who was trying her best to pass on some spiritual energy into him. Ningwu Liushan and Bai Longtian weren't very injured, merely tired and running low on spiritual energy so they could still act as support guards from the back. Shen Tianyu was to act as an all-rounder, assisting the backlines as they retreated or the frontlines, if anything came up, as the situation called for. That wasn't to say she didn't use any spiritual power in the previous battle but her arsenal allowed her to be more versatile than any of the others.

Jun Wangye made a face of frustration and unwillingness but he agreed with his sister-in-law. "Yes. It's unfortunate but Zhu Wangfei is right. If you can. can't catch them alive, just cut off a piece of their flesh and we'll see if the physicians and doctors can find out anything from it."

"Come on, let's go, go, go!" Shen Tianyu shouted as the blanket of black bodies were almost above them and the "villagers" were merely a few steps away from their group.

Everyone started running back the way they came, keeping careful to stay in formation. Their progress was much slower than arriving as Ming Yunyue, who was at the head, had to carry an injured person. Though she was of the Fist Department, it didn't mean her whole body's strength was inexhaustible. And it was indeed difficult to carry an almost adult male and run at the same time.

'Well, we could just bomb the entire place but... there's too many unknown factors. Don't want to make the consequences worse.' Shen Tianyu thought as she threw a few bombs to hold off the enemies.
