She was naturally more generous speaking to this group since they were not only their seniors and saviors, but included her husband and her brother-in-law.Find authorized novels in , faster updates, better experience, Please click #%E2%80%99s-courtesan-wife_11622167006444805/returning-(1)_51250236915507183 for visiting.

"It's not a problem. You said so yourself that you're not sure if those demonic beasts will attack, right? Besides, just because you didn't encounter anything big on your way here doesn't mean you the same thing will happen on your way back. Better to be safe than sorry." Jun Wangye replied with a hearty laugh.

"Besides, we just finished up our mission." Rong Jian added as he picked up more dishes and put it in Shen Tianyu's bowl.

"Ah? So fast?" Lun Aoman questioned between mouthfuls.

"This younger brother of mine, usually he has a stone face as if he wouldn't flinch even if they sky were to fall but who knew he would be such a henpecked husband1 once he fell in love!" Jun Wangye guffawed as he slapped his knee.

Shen Tianyu raised an eyebrow at Rong Jian as she picked up some of the food and put it in her mouth.

"I was worried about Tian'er since it's your first mission and all..." Rong Jian shyly muttered as his ears behind his mask reddened. Shen Tianyu turned away and went back to discussing with the others but lightly tapped her leg against his under the table, where no one would be able to see.

The group dispersed after finishing their meal, settling on using these three days to rest and restock their supplies. They would also schedule for a ride out of the city and back to the bigger city on the morning of the fourth day if nothing happened during this time.

"What does Wifey needs to stock up on?" After the meal, everyone separated into their own groups. The couples went with their partners while the sticky brothers went with their unwilling sisters and the single dogs grouped together with their not-at-all-homos.e.x.u.a.l bros.

"Not much, honestly. I still have plenty of food and other stuff. What I need to restock the most is my bombs and poisons." Shen Tianyu looked around the streets of the small town with a bored expression.

"Bombs? You mean those things that explode?" Rong Jian asked with a tilted head. The only unfamiliar thing he saw his wife whip out were those exploding bamboo tubes.

"Mhm. I need some gunpowder if I'm going to restock but I doubt this place sells enough gunpowder for me to make a decent amount of bombs." Shen Tianyu affirmed his guess. 'The people in this timeline seem to only call bombs "exploding ____" since it's usually attached to something else like arrows. And the poisons I use are a bit more refined so I don't think this place sells the materials I need to make them.'

Though they were supposed to be restocking up on supplies, Shen Tianyu was unable to as the town wasn't a commercial hub so many, if not all, of the raw materials she needed were unavailable.

"I don't think this place sells them... If I knew, I would have brought some with me..." Rong Jian mumbled with an upset expression.

"Huh? Wait, no. How would you even have anticipated this? And I only ever pulled out a sword so of course you wouldn't know I had this card up my sleeve. Don't beat yourself up over it. I still have more so don't worry. I'll just make more once we get back." Shen Tianyu waved it off as she dropped a silver in the hand of a vendor and received a sugar-crafting of a bunny instead.

"Want one?" She asked her partner as she turned around with the soft and squishy-looking, edible bunny in hand.

"Not this one. If you want one, I'll buy you one. This one is so small, it'll be gone with a single bite of yours." Shen Tianyu complained and pointed to the vendor's stand, which already had a few samples displayed.

"Then... I want the same." Rong Jian tapped his chin, pretending to think for a moment.

"Another sugar bunny please, Mister." Shen Tianyu told the vendor.

"Comin' right up!" The thin, middle-aged man cheerfully shouted.

Thankfully, the next three days passed uneventfully and the group consisting of three teams were able to get on a carriage heading for the city on the morning of the fourth day without any trouble.

"Thinking it over these few days, I think the second possibility Tianyu mentioned is more probable." Ming Yunyue said as soon as everyone got settled and as comfortable as they could on a wooden floor that was constantly shaking.

"On what?" Shen Tianyu had put out many ideas during this time so she didn't know what the Gongzhu was referring to.

"About why there was no information about the big number of demonic beasts and the strange behavior of the villagers. You said that everyone that went either died or had only fought a small number compared to the numbers we faced, right? I think the second possibility is more likely. Otherwise, there would definitely be a wide scale investigation if a team of cultivators died in such a place." Ming Yunyue explained.

"Ah. Now that you mention it, that does make sense. So, it's a recurring mission, huh... But then, why did we encounter such a big army this time? Is it because the beings behind this no longer need to play pretend? If that's the case, that means whatever they're planning is pretty much almost complete. That's also not a good sign." Shen Tianyu relaxedly spread her arms so that half of it was hanging off the cart.

"That's indeed a worrying sign." Jun Wangye muttered with a serious face.

"Well, the good thing is that we were the ones to encounter this matter and not some other... less prepared group, right?" Lun Chang, in a rare show of generosity, tried to cheer everyone up and was even careful of the words she was using.

"That's true. We were able to fare quite well despite not knowing things would get so serious." Lun Aoman did as usual, always agreeing with his sister.

"There were less casualties than if it was another group, you guys did a good job, Tian'er." Rong Jian praised everyone, although he was only looking at Shen Tianyu the entire time he spoke. a husband that differs to his wife more than usual
