'I don't usually buy the roots though since that is a... freaky sight to see that I would much rather never encounter in this lifetime. Even like this, I'm still a maiden okay? I'm still a maiden! Maybe not pure but definitely still a maiden!' Shen Tianyu clenched her fists in front of her, thankfully not overly-generous nor completely lacking, c.h.e.s.t as she followed the clerk upstairs with her partner taking the back of the line.

The clerk led them to the second floor first and showed them the Red Clover Blossoms and Red Brocade Mugwort the store had in stock. There were two guards stationed at the entrance of the room and a few more scattered around in case a customer tried to swipe something while inside. The products were arranged just like the first floor except, everything had a glass door or top to seal them in. The clerk led them tot he back of the room where a wooden shelf stood as tall as two a.d.u.l.t men and had a locked glass door. He asked them to take a look while he fetched the key to the case.

'Well, it certainly would be bad if a clerk carrying the key were knocked out inside the shop and had their key stolen.' Shen Tianyu reasoned as she nodded. There were a lot of wandering cultivators and hermits, after all. Those cultivators didn't necessarily have the money to purchase something, especially the criminals on the run.

"Wifey, do you think you can pick just from looking?" Rong Jian wasn't as knowledgeable about how to differentiate the good and bad in herbs outside of looking at them with spiritual energy. That was usually sufficient and being the pampered Zhu Wangye of Rikui, there weren't much who would dare try to rip him off in the first place.

"Well, I can get a general idea but I can't say for sure until I have them in my hand." Shen Tianyu replied.

"Are you curious? I'll give you some pointers if you want to learn." Shen Tianyu tilted her head to the side to direct her gaze at her partner.

"I'm excited to be taught by Tian'er. Please take care of me." Rong Jian returned with a blinding smile.

'Wow... he's shining...Handsome men are indeed on an other level.' Shen Tianyu thought in the back of her mind.

"As one can infer from the name, Red Clover Blossoms have to be red." Shen Tianyu pointed to the bottom half of the case where the store's stock of it was stored. Thankfully, the top half stored the Red Brocade Mugwort so they didn't have to move.

"However, most laymen mistake this as meaning that only the dark red ones are good. In fact, bright red is the best if we're only looking at color. Dark red means it hasn't absorbed enough of the right nutrients. On the other hand, light red signifies some underlying malnutrition, similar to how a sick person is usually pale. These ones are the best choice in terms of color." Shen Tianyu pointed to a few rows of Red Clover Blossoms. All the herbs were arranged by shade so the bright red ones were in the upper row of the bottom half of the case.

"Now, to narrow it further, you look at the petals and the rest of the plant, but since they placed these herbs so that we can only see the flowers, we can only look at the petals for now. The amount of petals is a must of course, but they generally have four petals anyways so no need to worry too much right now. The shape of the petals and the "mouth" in the middle can be seen. The rounder the edges of the petal are, the better. They mustn't be shriveled in any way. Of course, sometimes there are transporting accidents so a petal might be bent as a result of man-made interference. However, telling the difference might be too hard for an simple introduction so I won't say it here." She continued pointing at the different Blossoms in the first few rows. Of course, with the way the store arranged the herbs, the best would be on the topmost row but there must be comparison to learn. She pointed out a few key points in telling good quality Blossoms and moved on.

"For Red Brocade Mugwort, it's the opposite of Red Clover Blossoms. The darker the better. There are some that are so red that it almost looks black but those are very old and quite hard to find. I reckon they would sell those at auctions rather than a Medicinal Herb shop." Shen Tianyu was in the middle of explaining when the clerk came back, bowing in apology for the wait.

Shen Tianyu merely nodded and pointed to the herbs she wanted. She wished to buy the entire first row of both the Red Clover Blossoms and Red Brocade Mugwort. The clerk looked at Rong Jian in unease, who frowned as if the little clerk was questioning his finances, though Shen Tianyu was probably the one with a bigger income. Find authorized novels in , faster updates, better experience, Please click #%E2%80%99s-courtesan-wife_11622167006444805/tianhao-ruins-(3)_51712211097280616 for visiting.

The clerk uneasily unlocked the cabinet and took out the herbs as Shen Tianyu continued with her pointers on Red Brocade Mugwort. When the products landed in her hand, she gave them a sniff for a final check and gave two of the top qualities one of each species to Rong Jian for a smell.

"This is what would be considered top-quality Red Clover Blossoms and Red Brocade Mugwort." She grinned as she put the rest in her Cosmos Bag. The clerk took note of how much she took and would calculate the bill once she had all her items.

Letting medicinal herbs air for too long would reduce their effects, though only slightly. Since the herbs were uprooted, they only had a limited lifetime even if you an still use them past the "expiration date". An "expired" herb only has 80% effectiveness compared to when it was still fresh. That was also the other reason for the glass cases, the wood probably had some kind of preservation spell carved into them to expand their expiration date. As the store didn't have the finances to give every worker a Cosmos Equipment to store the products for safety, the clients that do have one may store the products there while they shop and the clerks would take not of what and how many they took before calculating the bill. Those that don't... well, tough luck.
