This little box-like space held a stone statue of a young stately man holding a sword in his hand, seemingly ready to strike.

"A puzzle?" Shen Tianyu muttered to herself as she took the statue from it's place.

"How is it, Wifey?" Rong Jian asked from below.

"Found a stone statue. I think this might be part of some kind of puzzle." Shen Tianyu told him it was okay to let her down now.

Rong Jian brought her back down onto solid ground. "Just a puzzle? It's quite anticlimactic for an Ascendant Monument."

"Well let's just finish this and see what happens." Shen Tianyu gripped the sttaue and looked around again.

"Either there's a place to put this or there are more of this." She walked towards the other side and asked if the people searching found anything. They answered that they didn't, to which Shen Tianyu tilted her head in contemplation and told them to let her see.

On the other wall, at a slightly higher place, where she had to stand on Rong Jian's shoulder, she found another mechanism in addition to another space holding a different stone statue. This one was of the same man but instead of being in a battle stance, he was sitting at a table, presumably doing calligraphy or painting.

"There's probably four of them or so... Are the other two along the path?" She muttered to herself as she studied the two statues in her hands.

"Why does Wifey think there are four of these?" Rong Jian peered over her shoulders.

"I don't know but isn't there, like, four stages of life or something? Like when making a person's life story into screens, there are usually four of them in the series or something?" Shen Tianyu gave the two statues she was holding to Rong Jian and headed back down the path they came from.

"Hey, you! How could you just get a headstart on the Monument like this?!" The latecomers were still arguing and seeing the two of them come over, they saw them as new targets.

"It's not like this is some fair competition, isn't everyone vying to get something first? Besides, you act as if people don't try to rob each other after they all leave the Monuments. Or that people don't try to shove and kill other members of other organizations to lessen the competition." Shen Tianyu felt their arguments were petty. If they had time to stand around and make noise, they should at least be trying to pick up some treasure or finding clues to continue on.

She didn't listen to their stuttered comebacks as she brushed past them and continued looking for clues on the walls. As she left the main group, she took out her own Night Pearl to light the way. Rong Jian trailed behind like a tail, glaring back at the people grouped behind them that took a few more glances than was necessary.

She found a third stone statue at a height she could reach and a fourth at the bottom of the wall. Finding no more mechanisms, she returned back to the rock clearing next to the gaping chasm.

"Now what? We should have all the pieces... Where do we put it?" Shen Tianyu looked around with two stone statues in her hand until her gaze landed on the ground. She started tapping her foot against the ground while everyone else just watched.

They knew it was some kind of a puzzle by now but they didn't know how to solve it. The ones not in their group were being cautious in case the completed puzzle summoned a monster or something.

The stone plate started to emerge from the floor and symbols started to appear on it. The symbols were similar to the Ancient script used for arrays and talismans and the stone plate revealed itself to actually be part of a pillar. The pillar itself was only as tall as Shen Tianyu with intricate carvings of dragons along it's shaft. A thud sounded once the pillar was done with its own reveal and everything fell into silence once again.

When Rong Jian determined there weren't any threats nearby did he let go of Shen Tianyu.

"I won't be able to see the top of the pillar once I'm standing in front of it." Shen Tianyu hinted at him to be her stepladder again.

"Alright. I'll carry Wifey over there?" Rong Jian readily agreed.

Shen Tianyu nodded and felt herself leave the stability of the ground. She was sitting on Rong Jian's shoulders again before she knew it like a child going on a ride on her father's shoulders.

"Can you see alright from there?" He stepped up to the pillar and asked her if she could see the top.

"Mn. I can see it fine." She looked down at the cornice of the pillar and saw four empty circles, devoid of any Script. However, there were no indicators on which statue should go where. Or even if the statues are supposed to go there at all.

"I don't understand Ancient Script. Let's give this job to someone else." Shen Tianyu was afraid that placing the items randomly might cause something bad to happen, like getting attacked.

Rong Jian let her down and Shen Tianyu went to hand over the four stone statues to Elder Yu.

"The top is written in Ancient Script." She told the older woman and that was all the information the other needed to understand the situation.  Find authorized novels in , faster updates, better experience, Please click #%E2%80%99s-courtesan-wife_11622167006444805/tianhao-ruins-(10)_52227299277326265 for visiting.

"Little Xu. You're the most accomplished in Ancient Script within this group. Go have a look at the pillar." Elder Yu singled out one of the older members but kept the statues in her hands.
