"It's not like I never turn to you for help. I understand my limits and when I should back down and get reinforcements. As for the other stuff, my hands and feet work just fine, why would I need to look for someone else to help with a matter I can easily resolve on my own? My brain doesn't have any problems either." Shen Tianyu furrowed her eyebrows but he probably couldn't see since she was leaning on his c.h.e.s.t.

'This person is really strange.' She thought as she took deep breaths.

She finally managed to calm down a bit and looked around again. "These are... Parasitic Bees and Face-Devouring Mosquitos? Why? There must have been something wrong with the head of the one who made this Monument."

Shen Tianyu straightened up and checked to make sure the Shield was still stable. A few of the other members were also looking out in disgust and unease. These were small mobs for them but seeing them still caused discomfort in many.

Parasitic Bees latches onto a host and binds with their nervous system, eventually overtaking their brain. They control the host to do what they want and feeds off of the flesh of other creatures. So for the ones already infected by them, they were already killing their comrades with faces of horror. Currently, they were still conscious but could not control their bodies so they could only watch as they killed their own friends with their own hands. Soon, they won't even be able to yell at others to stay away. Though the Parasitic Bees need flesh to sustain themselves, they grow by ingesting and processing spiritual energy. So, although the most common record is of them latching on to wild boars or tigers, their favorite hosts were humans, who held and could gather plenty of spiritual energy. They were unable to possess a cultivator's spiritual energy system but fed off of every last drop. Even if you had spiritual energy, it was useless since you would be unable to control your own actions. When the Parasitic Bees deemed their host useless or not having any more nutrients to sustain them, they will leave the body on their own. However, because they are bound to the nervous system of their host, depending on how long they were possessed, the resulting host can range from being unable to move parts of their body to being braindead or actually dying. Since the nervous system was intruded and with the uncaring leave of the Bees, the nervous system will be damaged.

Their abilities sound frightening, but its only if they got their feelers on a host. Since they are parasites, their individual capabilities were really quite low. As long as you were prepared, felling a few dozen wasn't a problem even for low-level cultivators. It was only when there were a few hundred gathered together was when it became a slight problem to cultivators. Though their looks certainly did not help calm their opponents.

No one knows how those things find hosts since eyes and noses are not visible on them. There was a huge mouth where the face was supposed to be with teeth lining the round hole. A long, circular tongue fl.i.c.k.i.n.g back and forth hung from the mouth. The wings were similar to that of a bee and that was how they got their name but their legs weren't hairy. Instead they were single, smooth strands of tubes that were used to control their hosts. The tubes would first inject a fluid to paralyze their chosen host and the rest would join in stabbing into the body and releasing a special toxin that allowed the nervous system to be redirected with the Parasitic Bees as the core that gave orders. The rest of its body looked like a large, fleshy worm without any kind of protection. They were heavily reliant on their hosts for food and protection.

On the other hand, the Face-Devouring Mosquitoes were more straightforward. They devoured a target, usually from its face. They apparently did not get nutrients from the skin or bones as most of their victims were found with those pretty much intact, save for the face. They attacked their targets by spewing a burning poison with it's mouth. This acidic solution would usually cause the target to stop or stumble as the eyes were usually quite badly guarded from such dangers. And with this, they would proceed to latch onto the target's head with their legs, using the hooks to dig into their skin and sometimes even piercing bone. From there, they would devour the face, destroying it in the process and proceed to feast on the brain, pretty much rendering the victim dead as the brain was a primary organ in any body that wasn't an undead. It would then go on to eat all of the target from the inside out, including the organs and any flesh they could get to that wasn't blocked by bones. Despite their strong hooks, they rarely ate any bones or skeleton parts that wasn't part of the face. Usually the face part of the corpses weren't completely eaten up either. It seemed they only destroyed it enough to haul their bodies inside to feed.

They didn't look much better than the Parasitic Bees but at least they had the appropriate features of a face on their heads instead of a giant hole filled with teeth. Again, they were not much of a threat unless they came in extremely large numbers. It wasn't that rare for the Parasitic Bees and Face-Devouring Mosquitoes to be found in the same place or hunting together. However, these partnersh.i.p.s are usually short-lived as they needed many of them to hunt down a single prey and there wasn't enough food to go around. Not to mention, the Parasitic Bees possess their victims while the Face-Devouring Mosquitoes ate everything, so they wouldn't be able to possess a host if the Mosquitoes ate first. Vice versa, hosts s.u.c.k.e.d fry by the Parasitic Bees weren't appetizing to the Mosquitoes since all the nutrients absorbed would go to the Bees, causing the host to be extremely malnourished and their organs to be failing or even dry up.
