Embarking on a Journey

Under Xin Yun’s enticing incitement, A Da accepted Xin Yun’s suggestion. Also, for the sake of improving his strength, this guy stubbornly loaded 30 bags of maize. Although it would be tiring, for the sake of raising his pig dragon’s strength, he could not worry about too much.

Thirty bags of maize cost a total of three silver coins. After loading up the maize, A Da brought Xin Yun and Yi Luo Xiang and rushed in the direction of Ju Mu Town.

Just as Xin Yun expected, every four hours of flight, the pig dragon would run out of energy. Thus, for every four hours of flight, they had to rest for two hours.

In order to reach Ju Mu Town as quickly as possible, whenever it came time to rest, everyone quickly ate and rested. Then, when it recovered its strength, they would immediately depart. Like this, although it was tiring and resulted in exhaustion, not only did their traveling speed not decrease, it was even faster than expected! Originally, it would take a week to reach Ju Mu Town. Now, they had already reached it within four days.

Previously, when he had traveled, A Da only traveled during the day. At night, he would rest. Normally, he would fly for eight hours at a time, but with the current method, despite resting four times each day, A Da would travel 16 hours each day. If it were not for the weight of the transported good being too heavy and affecting their flight speed, they would have been even faster.

But, even though it was incredibly exhausting, and even though he was tired to the point of not being able to keep his eyes open, A Da was happy. However, it was not something a normal person could fathom. In just four days, the pig dragon had visibly grown.

When they just set out, the pig dragon was very unsteady when carrying the 30 bags of maize. It also trembled and swayed. It could not fly high at all, and its speed was embarrassingly slow, but by the last day, the pig dragon could already take of steadily, fly at a height of 200 meters, and it flew very steadily. It had completely grown accustomed to having the extra weight on its body.

Looking at A Da’s joyous expression, Xin Yun could not help but snicker. Everything was like this. Regardless of what type of training, the improvements at the beginning would be fast, while the latter parts might not be so.

If a person who had never trained in the 100 meter needed 20 seconds to complete it, it would only require a bit of training, even just four days, for that person’s time to improve to 18 seconds. But… once you are under ten seconds for the 100 meter, things are not as easy. Forget about improving the time by two seconds in four or five days. Even improving by one tenth of a second over four or five months would be difficult.

After arriving in Ju Mu Town, A Da happily smiled. After hiring a few carts and bringing the maize into Ju Mu Town, he began trying to sell it; however, he was stopped by Xin Yun.

Seeing A Da’s face filled with doubt, Xin Yun smiled and said: “How much this maize can sell for, have you inquired? Do you know how much you should sell?”

Glancing at Xin Yun, A Da happily said: “Do not underestimate me. When gathering this maize, it was one copper for one jin. When selling it here, it can sell for two copper. Any more is not possible. With that being the price here, I have it figured out.”

Un un… repeatedly nodding, Xin Yun knew that in this world, 1 gold = 10 silver and 1 silver = 1000 copper. This time, they had transported 3000 jin of maize. This would mean… they could earn 3000 copper, which averaged out to roughly 800 copper per day. It was comparable to the maximum income for a transport truck driver on Earth.

Smiling and looking at A Da, Xin Yun nodded and said: “If you are only going to do delivery work, then I will congratulate you. In regards to the grasp of prices, you are already very good and can definitely graduate. You will specialize in transportation.”

Speaking to this point, Xin Yun suddenly smiled and continued: “But, if you want to be a businessman and want to earn even more money, then I am very sorry. You are not qualified!”

“Ah!” Looking at Xin Yun in disbelief, A Da foolishly said: “What? Could it be that it’s not that high? Other people seem to be doing it this way! Could it be…”

Smiling, Xin Yun shook his head and continued: “Speaking of prices, let me test you. You should know that the specialty product of Ju Mu Town is the dried pine mushroom. So let me ask you, how much does a liang of dried pine mushroom cost?”1

Facing Xin Yun’s question, A Da proudly puffed up his chest and said: “I know this. The cost of one liang of dried pine mushroom is three copper. One jin is 30 copper. There is no mistake.”

Smiling and nodding, Xin Yun secretly praised it for being very cheap. At this point, the current market was very underdeveloped. When Xin Yun was about to be reborn, one jin of dried pine mushroom cost nearly 1000 copper, but it could be purchased right now for 30 copper.

Shaking his head, Xin Yun gestured for A Da to watch from the side. He then walked over to the cart and began shouted at the top of his lungs: “Those who walked past, do not miss out…. new maize produced this year. Trading one jin of maize for one liang of mushroom. Those willing to trade come quickly! There is a limited amount. First come first served. There will be no more after we run out!”

For a while, Xin Yun’s sharp and bright voice echoed around the market. Hearing this voice, everyone was startled at first, then very quickly… the people on the road were pushed aside, as mothers and daughter or men all ran over while carrying bags of dried pine mushroom. They all rushed to trade with Xin Yun.

Although these mushrooms were precious, a businessman was needed to buy it before it could be turned into money. Therefore, the prices in this world had always suffered from large changes. This was the so-called willing victim allowing themselves to be caught.

Although these mushrooms were more expensive, for the citizens of the town, it was nothing more than something that grew in the wild and could be found at any given time. It did not count as much. At most, they could spend some time harvesting it, and it could not even be eaten as food.

In reality, these mushrooms were not deliberately harvested. As a town in the middle of a forest, these were things harvested by people who were not hunters. It would be used to make a pheasant stew or something. Its aroma was extremely delicious. There was not very much in the initial stages, as it had not yet become a main staple.

For the people of this small town, they did not lack meat. They had treated meat as the main part of their meal. What they desired the most was fresh maize, thus… although Xin Yun’s trade ratio did not match up with the prices set by the businessmen, in the eyes of the citizens, it was worth it. Trading something used to adjust flavor for a necessity of life that could even be seen as a luxury item, it was worth it no matter how it was looked at.

Very quickly, 30 bags of maize was traded out. 3000 jin of maize had become 300 jin of dried pine mushroom. Seeing the three carts worth of maize become three carts of mushroom, A Da was completely speechless.

In this town, the total value of three carts of maize was 6000 copper, while what was the value of three carts of mushroom? That’s right… 9000 copper!

Originally, using four days time, A Da’s profit from transporting the goods after deducting costs was 3000 copper. But with Xin Yun using his mind a little and spending around an hour, he had earned an extra 3000 copper. At this point… A Da finally knew why Xin Yun said he did not pass.

Seeing A Da’s flustered appearance, Xin Yun smiled and shook he head, saying to A Da: “Alright, all of the food has been traded. Now… accompany me to an accessory store. I need to sell some things.”

Hearing Xin Yun’s words, A Da blankly nodded. He still could not calm down. Having lived to this age, he still did not know that money could be earned in such a way! Also, that money was so easy to make. It was just a matter of doing some talking.

For a while… he felt a weird sensation. It seemed as though Xin Yun had become his elder brother, while he had become Xin Yun’s younger brother; furthermore, this feeling was very strong. At this moment… he already trusted Xin Yun’s words. Perhaps… he really could increase his income ten fold!

They did not speak the entire time. Xin Yun pulled on Yi Luo Xiang’s hand and entered the accessory store. Seeing two small children enter the store followed by a sturdy man, the storekeeper thought it was a father and his children. With a smiling face, he welcomed them in and said to A Da: “Welcome honored guest, may I ask what you need?”

Hearing the storekeepers words, A Da opened his mouth but did not know what to say. Even now, he did not know why Xin Yun had come here. What did you want him to say?

While he was feeling embarrassed, Xin Yun’s voice spoke up: “Elder sister, we came here to sell some things. You buy gold and silver accessories here, right?”

Hearing Xin Yun’s words, A Da hurriedly nodded and said: “That’s right, we came to sell accessories. You accept them here, right?”

Although she felt the relations between the father and children was a bit odd, the storekeeper still hurriedly replied: “We accept them…. How could we not accept them? But I do not know… what sort of accessories do you want to sell?”
