“Kawachi, Get back!”
Saeki wrapped the demons up in a spiral of flame but they simply shrugged it off with smiles. None of them had used magic to do so. Sixteen student were gathered together fighting the demons. Although even if you call it fighting they were mostly just releasing magic as they retreated.
Saeki’s magic had almost no effect but most of the other heroes were just trembling and not able to do anything. Kawachi was trying to use her own intermediate level magic to help but it was only giving the demons confidence.
“Gyahahaha! You call yourselves mages? My kid can use better magic than this.”
A demon ridiculed them and their magic.
“Damn….”
Saeki remembered what Nito had said and realized that he hadn’t been wrong. He realized that what he had learned thus far wouldn’t work outside the school. The heroes looked out at the fires that had been set to the bars and hotels. It was so peaceful yesterday but now there was a loud rumbling as one of the hotels collapsed and the demons laughed about it happily.
The heroes didn’t know what was happening, they were completely unable to grasp the situation. In this situation they might be killed at any moment if they aren’t careful.
“Kawachi, take everyone and escape out the entrance!”
“Saeki, I’ll help as well.”
Joanna stood next to Saeki.
“That’s reassuring.”
Although Saeki didn’t actually feel reassured at all.
“Oi! Haruhiko! Stop standing there scared and go!”
Haruhiko and Jessica were hiding between the seats, holding hands as they trembled.
“Go you two!”
Kawachi grabbed the two of them and left with the others while Saeki and Joanna continued to retreat as they cast spell after spell. However all of their magic was easily dispersed with a sword.
“What’s with these guys! This isn’t working at all!”
“Saeki, they’re demons. There have incredible magic power we won’t be able to do anything to them.”
Joanna answered calmly but her forehead was sweating. The demons in front of them weren’t trying to kill them but were amused instead. They were only alive because of the mood they had created.
Then, from behind a unit wearing gold armor was mounting a counter attack against the demons.
“Thats….”
“The knights of Dams Arden.”
However the armor looked like a decoration as the demons easily crossed swords with them.
“Saeki!”
Saeki turned to see the others that should have been escaping standing there waiting for him.
“What are you doing!? I told you to run away! Don’t worry about me and go!”
No one knew why Saeki had suddenly decided to protect everyone. Did his loss to Nito change him?
“Saeki! If you don’t run away quickly…!”
Kawachi said they should escape together but if they turned their backs on the demons they would easily be caught. Saeki couldn’t escape and all of them knew that. This was why none of them had run.
“Kawachi, Did you find Koizumi!?”
Saeki asked.
Koizumi left his seat with his usually two friends not long after the match between Saeki and Nito. He said that he would be back soon but he never returned. No one there knew that the three of them had been killed by Nito and were looking for them even in this situation.
“Damn it, what is that guy doing!?”
Saeki was angry, if Koizumi was there they might have been able to do something against the demons.
“Are you done already? We’re getting a little tired of this as well.”
The demons laughed and Saeki sends more fire magic at them while Joanna follows up with wind magic so as to not offset Saeki’s fire.
“You’re so weak that killing you is just a hassle.”
The demons dispersed the fire with their swords and then one threw a spear of fire right at Saeki.
“Wha!”
Saeki had just used magic of his own and couldn’t move. The spear flew straight for him but just before it hit him the spear stopped and was thrown back at the caster. It pierced straight through the demons head.
“Saeki, Get back.”
The first thing that Saeki saw was a gold sword.
“Ichijo…..”
Ichijo had appeared.
“I’ll hold them here, you two get behind me and attack with the strongest magic that you have.”
“Got it.”
Saeki realized that he had no choice but to leave this to Ichijo.
“《Explosion》!”
A great explosion occurred when Ichijo shouted, the demons involved in the explosion were turned into chunks of meat. Saeki’s eyes widened at the display of power and how Ichijo had used magic without a magic circle.
“《Fire hammer》!”
But he didn’t have time to be surprised.
“《Wind Hammer》!”
Huge balls of fire and wind flew over Ichijo’s head wiping out the surviving demons.
“Ichijo!”
Kawachi rushed over.
“Kawachi? Long time no see.”
“Why are you here Ichijo?”
I stopped by because an acquaintance of mine was participating in the tournament.
“I see…..”
Kawachi was confused by the change that happened in Ichijo after he had disappeared.
“Ichijo, Your arm…”
“Oh this? Yeah…a lot of stuff happened and I lost it.”
Ichijo answered nonchalantly.
“You…Lost it?”
Saeki was confused, he hadn’t noticed the missing arm outside the bar.
“It’s not a big deal.”
Ichijo didn’t seem to care but that wasn’t the only thing about him that had changed. To put it simply he was buff, his remaining arm was nearly twice the size that it had been.
“I just made an exit.”
Ichijo said as he looked past the demons.
“Everyone! Let’s head outside from there!”
Saeki immediately called out to the students and urged them to start walking. Meanwhile Ichijo was looking at Nito standing in the field.
“That guy…..killed Kyogoku.”
Saeki told him.
“…..”
“I don’t understand why he had to kill him. It might have been what he wanted but…..”
It was Kyogoku who wanted it to end that way but Saeki couldn’t accept it.
“Wouldn’t stunning him have been good enough?”
“….Yeah.”
In the field standing next to Nito were three people that Ichijo didn’t recognize.
(Are those Nito’s companions?)
He didn’t have that feel about him before but now he seems to have changed again. Ichijo was troubled by what was going on with Nito.
“Wait, are you saying the guy you know… Is him?”
“Yeah, I’ve met Nito twice. He is a strong mage.”
Saeki was uncomfortable with the respectful way Ichijo talked about Nito.
“Is he part of Dragon’s Heart!?”
Ichijo was surprised by how fast Saeki caught on but he didn’t show it.
“….He has nothing to do with that organization. That guy is just an adventurer.”
“……”
Saeki tried to read further into Ichijos response.
“I see, in other words you don’t know much about him.”
“Yeah, I’ve only talked to him twice.”
They heard another explosion coming from outside.
“More importantly let’s head outside then see about getting away from here.”
“Yeah, that should be our first move for now.”
Saeki and Ichijo left together.

It had already turned into a battlefield outside, it looked as if a war had broken out. Buildings were on fire and there were corpses everywhere.
“Saeki, what are you doing?”
Kida asked, a little upset.
“We need to get to the other side. Didn’t they say that something else was coming from that hill? We need to get out of here.”
Saeki had stepped into a leader position without realizing it and all the other students were relying on him.
“I’ll support you.”
With Ichijo supporting him Saeki began issuing instructions. If the hill as in the opposite direction from where they were then they would be able to go straight through the town. The walked through town for a while until Oswald appeared in front of them. He was out of breath and demons were appearing one after the other.
“Teacher!”
Oswald heard Saeki calling to him and caught sight of them.
“I’ll help!”
“Out of the question! Get back!”
Oswald was surrounded by dozens of demons as he held onto a sapphire like spear.
“Saeki, I’ll go.”
Ichijo summoned his sword.
“《Excalibur》!”
The golden sword appeared in his right hand.
“《Explosion》!”
Oswald was amazed by the explosion that occurred right in front of him.
“Explosion magic!?”
Ichijo ended the fight in an instant as he cut down the remaining demons with his sword.
“Teacher!”
The students ran to Oswald’s side.
“As expected of you Ichijo!”
Kawachi was praising Ichijo.
“Ichijo? ……I see….A hero of Greyberg huh?”
A total of 21 heroes had been summoned by Greyberg and although two of them had been missing the names of the heroes had been publicly available.
“20 Heroes, thats reassuring.”
Oswald sounded weak.
“Teacher?”
Saeki helped care for Oswald.
“Man, I do not want to get old.”
Oswald used his spear like a cane as they watched the battles being fought around them. Teachers and members of the audience were fighting hard. However most of them were being killed by the demons.
“Teacher, what happened?”
Saeki tried to gather more information about their situation.
“I don’t know. Demons rarely appear in the human world.”
Most of the demons aren’t interested in the other countries and tend to stay inside their own.
“I don’t know why this is happening.”
The ground began to shake, it slowly grew stronger making it hard for them to maintain their balance.
“Oswald! “
A man dressed in gold armor appeared there.
“Your majesty! Why are you here!?”
“I cannot escape while you are fighting.”
Schneizer had appeared with two others behind him.
“Your majesty, Who are these people?”
“Hmm? Ah these two are…”
They moved forward and took off their hoods. One was an old man with silver hair and a long beard while the other was a woman with bright blonde hair and pointed ears.
“An elf? “
“Yes, I am Fiora.”
The elf bowed politely.
“And I am Braums. I am an adventurer who is traveling with Fiora.”
All of the students were fascinated by the elf. She had clear skin and a pretty face. Even the female students stared at her.
“Did you say Braums!?”
Oswald suddenly asked.
“Oh, do you know of me Oswald Saberhagen?”
“ How do you know the name of an old mage like me?”
The expression on Oswalds face seemed to say that it was an honor to meet him.
“Uhhm? Do you know them principal?”
Kawachi asked curiously, all the other students wanted to know as well.
“I’m afraid not. This man is the triple S rank adventurer, Braums Hermit.”
“Triple S?”
Saeki looked at him in confusion while Ichijo looked at him and then turned his eyes away quickly.
“Everyone, it looks like more have come.”
The identity behind what had caused the shaking earlier seemed to be a new horde of demons. Everyone there was speechless. Everyone was being killed and noone had any idea what the demons were thinking during all of this.
“Braums….”
Fioria said.
“Yeah, its been a while since I’ve seen something like this. Shall we entertain them a little?”
Braums expression hadn’t changed.
“I will help you.”
Oswald grabbed his spear.
“I never thought the day would come when I would fight alongside the Guardian Alchemist.”
Oswald gave him a sad look.
“I haven’t heard that name in a long time. I’d already forgotten it.”
After that the flow of the conversation changed.
“Is that a rare class sword?”
The question was directed at Ichijo.
“Yeah, this…”
“The heroes sword?”
“….Yeah.”
Ichijo wasn’t surprised that the SSS rank adventurer know about his sword.
“May I ask you for help?”
“I don’t mind, but my priority here is to protect everyone.”
Braums didn’t object.
“Well then, let’s go.”
Some of the people who had been there had helped students and other audience members escape but most of the people there had thought only of themselves and had run away with their tails between their legs. A massive amount of the people there had already been killed.
Although there were small groups scattered around like their own putting up a fight. When they saw the new horde of demons they left the people they were helping to escape and rushed towards the new enemies. This was war and Saeki knew that if he got involved he would only get in the way. Ichijo, Oswald and Braums started to move forward while Saeki stared at their backs. It looked as though a clear wall of power was protecting him.
Saeki heard the sound of shoes behind him and turned to find someone dressed in red clothes and a mask.
“You…….”
“……”
Nito had shown up.
