The place where I spent two years as a student and experienced pain, high-school. It was exactly how I remembered it. A rusty gate, cracks in the gym wall, and a torn green net surrounding the grounds.
“Why……”
No matter how much I stared at it I couldn’t think of anything else to say.
Why?
“Do you know this place? ”
Toa asked confused.
“Yeah, it’s the high-school I went to.”
“High-school?”
“Its school, you have schools here but this is one in my world.”
The building seemed to look quite unusual to them.
“So, in other words….”
Toa seemed to be looking too far into it.”
“No……this is a dungeon. This shouldn’t be Japan.”
Then it was Sufilia’s turn to ask a question.
“What’s Japan? It’s the first I’ve heard of it.”
“Its the country I lived in before I was summoned here.”
“But why is Masamune’s hometown in a dungeon?”
“Hometown?”
This isn’t my hometown, for me it was just a prison. The only think the school ever gave to me was a death wish.
“I don’t know.”
Everything is exactly the same, there’s no doubt that it is my old school.
“Hey look at that!”
We turned to look where Toa was pointing.
“What……. Is this?”
On the ground next to the gymnasium was countless corpses.
“This…..”
“It probably the challengers, yesterday he said that many had not returned.”
The gymnasium is just beyond the gate meaning they were killed as soon as they went inside. But why? The corpses were cut up pretty badly but they weren’t missing any body parts, we’re they knife wounds?
“You three stay with me, it seems like somethings here.”
I was wary but all I could here was the caring of a crow.
“Ok!”
“Understood.”
“Yeah.”
Well proceed carefully from here on, dungeon monsters should be an order of magnitude greater than those outside.
At that moment.
“Hmm?”
The ground began to shake and small rocks began dancing along the surface.
“Hey, doesn’t it seem kind of close?”
Toa asked.
“Master, behind us!”
I turned around quickly at Nems voice.
“What! ……..this.”
A huge muscular bipedal cow carrying an axe was charging this way.
“Lord Nito, it’s a minotaur!”
“Minotaur!?”
Appearing often in RPGs it’s a monster that I’m highly familiar with.
“Although it can’t speak its very intelligent, it’s an SS rank monster!”
It let out a piercing screech that hurt the ears.
“Ah! It’s loud!”
Nem was covering her head with her arms trying to block out the sound while Toa muttered.
“Wait a minute…. 648?”
I looked at the monster’s stats and immediately understood what Toa was seeing.
“I see, it looks weird but, it’s just like the dungeon I was in before.”
Minotaur level 648, equipment: executioners axe.
It’s a high level but that’s a dungeon for yourself.
“This appears to properly be a dungeon.”
I don’t know the reason behind this but supposedly it will lead to some kind of truth.
“I’ll figure this out later, you three wait here, I’ll finish this quickly.”
It’s been a long time since I fought inside a dungeon and that time I survived only by using 《Erosion wave》. The Minotaur charged at me and I pulled out my sword. I’ve grown a lot since that time so, I wonder how I’ll fare now. I was level 699 and my opponent was level 648.
I activated the skills《Mind’s Eye》, 《congeniality》, 《Discontinuation》, 《Physical Strengthening》, 《Tear Resistance》, 《Slash Resistance》, and 《Strike Resistance》just in case. Thenー
“Guuu!”
I swung by sword but…
“Huh?”
The moment my sword and the Minotaur’s ax collided, the blade shattered.
“Seriously!?”
I tossed the broken sword away and gained some distance.
“That was a rare sword, as expected of a dungeon.”
It seems that in a dungeon being a rare grade sword doesn’t mean anything.
The Minotaur snorted.
“《Binding》”
Countless white arms reached out, grabbing the Minotaur and forcing him to kneel.
“I guess I should just rely on the abyss?”
If my sword is just going to break then it’s not possible to get in even a single attack. But it’s movements are stopped for the moment so, I guess I should weaken it.
“《Irrational seizure》”
To test its strength I threw some more magic at the Minotaur.
“Oooh.”
As a result the Minotaurs left arm was ripped off, flying away to land at my feet. I reflexively reached down and picked it up.
“I see, so that’s what that does.”
It’s the inversion of《Magic slash》apparently the magic forcefully rips something away from the target.
“Perfect, this might work instead of a sword. 《Irrational seizure》”
The Minotaurs right arm, still holding the axe flew towards me. I caught it and the arm aside keeping the axe.
[Executioners axe] acquired, added to equipment.
After the announcement the cracks in the blade are repaired and the blood disappeared.
“If it can shatter a rare sword that means it’s probably national treasure grade or better.”
“Hey, is it over yet?”
Toa asked.
“Not yet, it still has legs which means it can probably still move.”
I told Toa not to move yet, if it managed to break out of the magic it could still attack her.
“Nem! Once I take it’s legs hit it with magic, you two do it as well. This is a good chance to raise your level.”
“Ok!”
Nem moved into an attack stance.
“I’m ready.”
Toa did not look very enthusiastic, whether it could move or not this monster was level 648. Her expression told me she wanted to be as far from it as possible.
“Sufilia?”
“I’m OK, please finish it off with just those two.”
“You too, do you not like stuff like this?”
“What are you saying? I’m delighted to bully the weak from a superior position but, I don’t have a hobby of trying to take advantage of those superior to me.”
How can she say that so openly?
“I see, but you should be able to get at least one hit in right? After all if all you’re able to do is attack the weak then you will hinder my journey.”
I urged her along for now and then moved to stand in front of the Minotaur.
“Are you sentient?”
It looked into my eyes but didn’t say anything.
“Don’t think badly of me. After all you’re the one that did that over there aren’t you? Although it’s ok because I didn’t actually know them.”
I swung the axe down severing the Minotaur’s legs, when I did the Minotaur screamed. Oh, I guess it can feel something after all.
“Nem!”
" "“Right! 《Will o’ whisp》”
Three fireballs appeared above Nems head and attack the Minotaur together.
“Thats the magic you learned?”
“Yes!”
I’m not sure if it’s something she learned at the academy or if it’s her own unique magic. The fire slightly singed the hair on the Minotaur.
“Alright, you hit it so your level should rise a little.”
I wish this world had some sort of tool that allowed them to gain experience without attacking.
“Alright, and last one.”
I took the Minotaurs head off with my new axe.
For defeating, Minotaur Lvl: 648, [Goddess Blessing] has been activated. Choose your loot.
Skill: bullfighting spirit.
Magic: earth wave.
It didn’t have any equipment, but I assume that was because I took the axe and it no longer belonged to it. For now I chose the magic.
You’ve leveled up by defeating Minotaur level 648.
Another announcement went off in my head.
I suddenly remembered that [mischief inversion{extreme}] can be used on more than just magic. I wonder what it does to skills?
You have leveled up to level 812.
As the announcement went off in my head I inverted 《God speed》.
By inverting 《God Speed》you have created 《unbearable fall》.
“Oh!?”
“Whats wrong master?”
Nem came up beside me while I wasn’t paying attention, Toa as well.
“I want you to think a little bit more about how you do things but, I guess I can’t really say that can I. ”
It seems that Toa doesn’t like how I kill things.
“Well, Nem looked like she wanted to raise her level so, I wanted to help her do it in a safe way.”
Toa covers her mouth as she looks at the lump of meat missing its appendages while I confirm my skills effects.
