“The night before…”

Garlan was holding Little Nergal and sitting next to King Camos, teasing the little lion cub with a half-baked piece of meat, when suddenly he heard Camos talking to him.

“Did you sleep well?” King Camos asked.

Garlan’s heart suddenly tightened.

The night before was when he secretly ran to find Heimos, tossing about until midnight before slipping back.

Why did King Camos suddenly ask about this? What does he know?

While thinking nervously in his heart, Garlan raised his head, putting an innocent appearance on his face.

“Huh?”

He tilted his head and looked at Camos with an expression of ‘Brother King, I don’t understand what you are saying.’

The little expression made King Camos laugh as he raised his hand and rubbed his head.

“It’s nothing. Yesterday, I saw you were a little listless during the ceremony. It was as if you didn’t sleep well.” He smiled and continued, “Why? Was it because there was a change in environment, so you couldn’t rest?”

It turned out to be this.

Garlan breathed a sigh of relief.

Yes. Yesterday, he was indeed really sleepy during the ceremony. After all, he spent most of the night with Heimos. He didn’t sleep much when he went back because he was woken up by the maids early in the morning to prepare for the ceremony.

“En, a little bit. But it was much better last night.” Looking up at King Camos with a smile, Garlan said, “It’s okay, Brother King. I’ll get used to it soon. “

“Oh, all right.”

King Camos said, rubbing that fluffy little head again and then returned to the political affairs on hand.

After a while, seeing that it was almost noon, Garlan stood up holding the lion cub.

Although Little Nergal could already gnaw on the meat, it was time for him to drink milk. After all, he wasn’t one month old yet and had not been weaned. Garlan wanted to bring him back to the warm room.

When he got to the greenhouse, he put the little lion cub on the ground and turned to leave.

But he whined, grabbed his shoes, and refused to let him go.

Garlan pointed to his little brothers and sisters who were already licking the milky-white milk basin and said, “If you don’t go, there will be no more.”

The cub nibbled Garlan’s shoelaces and stared at the milk and its scent that was already wafting with his small eyes. He shook his head, looked at the milk tray, and then at Garlan. The cub looked torn.

Garlan couldn’t help but laugh at the indecisive little expression on his face. He knelt down and tapped his small head.

“Quickly go drink, I’ll come and play with you tomorrow.”

As if he understood what Garlan said, Little Nergal roared and loosened his grip on the straps of Garlan’s shoes. He used his four short legs, ran towards the milk basin, and then drank in big gulps. Apparently, he was afraid that his bunch of brothers and sisters would drink his share. He then snatched it back again—He did this often anyway.

Seeing Nergal concentrated on drinking, Garlan took the opportunity to quickly slip out.

He stood outside the greenhouse, looked up at the sky, and thought for a while. Instead of going back to Camos, he walked in the opposite direction. Of course, the attendants who wanted to accompany him were also driven away and were not allowed to follow.

When he ran back to the room he’d visited the night before, he saw several guards guarding the door. During the day, it seemed that these people more or less still knew how to pretend.

It was probably thanks to his appearance during the huge ceremony yesterday that the guards obviously knew him. They, who were originally a little lazy, straightened up nervously and bowed their heads to Garlan in salute when they saw him.

Garlan easily entered the door as no one stopped him at all.

As soon as he entered, he saw the familiar figure of Heimos sitting at a stone table under a big tree in the small courtyard.

When the child ran in, the teenager who was eating, raised his eyes, glanced at the small figure from the corner of his eye, then lowered his eyes and continued to eat slowly.

With that kind of expression, it was as if he did not see the other party at all.

Garlan stepped on the bluestone road and ran over, and then unceremoniously climbed onto the stone table— yes, he was climbing. As he was too short and the height of the stone table was the same as his shoulders, he could only climb with both hands. With his two short legs jumping with his tiptoes a few times, he managed to climb up and sit down.

Heimos sat there and continued to leisurely tear off a piece of bread, put it in his mouth, and chewed it slowly, as if he hadn’t seen Garlan’s movements.

It was just that although he didn’t change his expression, the light from the corner of his eye uncontrollably floated towards the child.

Seeing the cute kid trying to climb up, he felt an inexplicable itch. It took a lot of effort to resist the urge to stand and pick the boy up to put him on the table.

…Although he didn’t know why Garlan didn’t want to just sit on the stone bench and had insisted on climbing up the table.

It was because Garlan wanted to talk to Heimos. He thought that it was better to be sitting on a table and be a bit taller than Heimos, compared to sitting on a stool and being a bit short. In this way, he wouldn’t be overwhelmed and oppressed by Heimos’ aura.

Anyway, the table was quite big, and he occupied only about a quarter of it.

Garlan, who climbed up and sat cross-legged on the table, glanced over it casually. On the table were ordinary foods such as bread, barbecue meat, and porridge. For Garlan, who followed King Camos every day to eat the royal food feast, these foods were a bit rudimentary.

However, he was not so kind as to improve the food of his mortal enemy.

Was it easier to kill a mortal enemy by raising him tall and strong?

While thinking about this, he took out a white pill, the size of his thumb from his sleeves, pinched it with his fingers, and raised it towards Heimos with a grin.

“What is this?”

The teenager glanced at it and continued to tear off a piece of barbecue with his hand and put it in his mouth to chew.

“Poisonous pill.” Garlan said to Heimos in a provocative tone, “What? Do you dare to eat it?”

In fact, it was a nourishing pill, a special medicine for treating bruises and internal congestion. The doctor gave him two pills and told him to take them for two days. He thought about Heimos’ seemingly terrible injury and wanted to get another one, but he heard the doctor say that this pill was very precious and rare. In the past, it was only given to King Camos for his personal use. These two pills were granted only to him by King Camos. But Garlan had dispelled that order.

This pill was the one he secretly saved from his scheduled dosage today. After all, in all fairness, he was actually fine. Heimos’ injury was much worse than his.

However, even though he brought it here, he was still a bit unwilling to directly give it to his nemesis.

So when Heimos asked, on a whim, he deliberately said it was a poisonous pill, intending to scare the other person and when Heimos changed his expression, he would unceremoniously laugh at him.

After laughing, he would then mercifully offer him the pill again.

Yes.

Very good, that’s it.

While Garlan’s brain was still imagining Heimos’ embarrassment in various ways, the boy who had been sitting there suddenly got up and leaned in his direction.

As soon as Heimos bent over and lowered his head, his soft black hair fell onto Garlan’s fingers.

The teenager opened his mouth and engulfed Garlan’s fingers in it.

The tip of the tongue rolled and the round pill entered his mouth and was swallowed

into his stomach. Just like that, he just took the pill that was in Garlan’s hand and consumed it.

After suddenly swallowing the pill in one mouth, Heimos straightened up. His casual expression looked like he had done something ordinary just now and conveniently raised his hand to pat the stunned Garlan’s head. He then carried the dirty plate, turned around, and went out.

Everything happened so quickly, it probably only took a few seconds from when Heimos got up to swallow the pill in one mouthful.

Garlan, who was startled by the sudden behaviour of Heimos, stared at him blankly. Until the back of the opponent disappeared from his sight, he finally reacted.

He jumped off the table abruptly, shaking his hands vigorously with a frowning expression on his face.

Ahhhhhhh! Saliva—

I got that guy’s saliva on my fingers! Ahhhh!

Heimos, you even directly licked someone’s finger, isn’t it dirty???

…

Garlan, who wanted to show Heimos who was the boss but was slapped by the other, slipped back with a gloomy look. But when he reached the gate, he saw King Camos, who was sitting there dealing with government affairs, waving at him. The child became even more depressed.

He blinked and thought about how to flicker the question from Brother King as he ran over with a very obedient expression.

He stood in front of Camos and looked at him with a compliant face.

However, King Camos didn’t seem to question him where he was just now. He just looked down at him, raised his eyebrows, and said, “Open your mouth.”

“Huh?”

Garlan uttered an ‘ah’, not knowing what King Camos wanted to do, and followed abidingly.

As soon as his mouth opened, King Camos raised his hand and threw a small white pill into his mouth. Unsuspecting Garlan subconsciously swallowed it.

When he tasted it, he felt miserable.

Because the little pill he swallowed just now was so familiar, really so familiar…

Seeing Garlan swallow it, Camos showed a satisfied look.

“In the future, just ask for whatever you want. Remember, you are my King Brother, the Prince of Aaron Landis. You can do whatever you want—but things that are meant for you to eat, you have to eat. Understood?”

He said, raised his hand, and patted Garlan on the head.

“Okay, go and rest.”

Garlan didn’t dare to refute King Camos’s words and nodded obediently.

He vaguely felt that King Camos knew everything that was happening in this palace. Those things that he thought he did secretly and others didn’t know, in fact, King Camos saw everything, but didn’t care. So he left him alone and didn’t expose him.

But this time, after he saved his medicine for Heimos, King Camos made it clear and told him that he could do anything he wanted, as long as he did not harm himself.

After leaving King Camos, Garlan went to the side hall to sleep.

After all, this body was still a child, and it was easy to get sleepy. It was necessary to take a nap every day, otherwise he would be listless all afternoon.

He stretched his limbs on the soft bed, before he could count sixty sheep, he closed his eyes and fell asleep.

What is that…

…Black water…

It’s so bright, the sun is too bright, so bright that I can’t open my eyes… the red sunlight…

A lot of people… screaming, messy, so noisy, my eardrums are about to be shattered…

A lot of people are yelling, yelling so annoyingly…

Huh?

Red fire?

The fiery red light isn’t sunlight.

It’s flames.

Crimson flames.

Ahhhhh… the flame is burning, it’s burning up!

From where? What are they burning? This scorched stench…

…It is a person.

It’s a person!!!

The child who was awakened by the nightmare suddenly turned over and sat up, panting with an open mouth, cold sweat on his forehead.

What was that?

What did I dream of?

I dreamt-No, I saw it, in that very real dream, I saw it with my own eyes-

That person was surrounded by flames…

His whole body was ignited and burned by the fire. He was being swallowed by the flames and exuding a stench of burnt flesh. The young man who was struggling in the fire…

… was Heimos?!!!
