Chapter 39: Ch 38: Oobleck’s Question.

Several hours later the team is meeting in the center of the ruin.
Oobleck motions for Kyra to come over from the building she's on top of.
You can see a speck jumping off of a roof in the distance and then as it runs over on the ground it gets bigger. Suddenly Kyra is there.
"Yes?"
"Well everyone, I believe that is it for today. Thank you Kyra for watching our backs." Oobleck says as he throws his bag at Yang who catches it thanks to expecting the unexpected from always being with Kyra.
"You 4 set up camp in the building we talked about earlier. Also make sure it is cleared out of Creatures. Your leader an I are going to secure the perimeter. Come, Ruby." Oobleck says as he walks off with Ruby.
"Well, lets go do it. Also why do you all seem to be questioning your existence right now?" Kyra asks grabbing the hiking bag from Yang and heading towards the building.
"How high up should we go?" Blake asks
"The opening on the 12th floor seems structurally safe along with providing cover and a good vantage point." Kyra says
"Kyra? Why do you seem like you know what you are doing?" Yang asks
"Come on Yang, you know what I am." Kyra says trying to remind Yang she's a saiyan not a Faunus.
"Ah, that makes sense then." Yang says
"What?" Weiss asks
"Nothing, I just survived on my own in the forests on the other side of the mountains before I made it to Vale." Kyra says
"So what about food water?" Weiss asks
"Well, believe it or not when it comes to missions like these. Water is often the heaviest thing you are carrying." Kyra says
Setting up the fire and everyone's sleeping mats.
"Not bad." Yang says
"I was hoping to start the fire." Blake says
"Sorry." Kyra says pulling out her hammock from the Pip-boy.
"Fun thing to bring on trips like these are Hammocks you can actually use them to sleep high up in the trees. So you don't have worry about the Grimm below. Insects might be worse though." Kyra says setting up her hammock and laying in it.
"I can't believe we didn't find anything." Weiss says
"we have always been fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time." Blake says
"Who says we are not in the right place? It may just be the wrong time. Blake when does White Fang operate?" Kyra asks Blake from her hammock.
"Usually we use the cover of..." Blake goes silent realizing they are looking at the wrong time.
"Use what?" Yang asks
"The cover of night." Blake says looking up.
"I swear sometimes you guys don't think. Rest a bit I will keep watch tonight and alert you if I see them." Kyra says
"That's not what I meant." Weiss says.
"Huh, your making no sense." Yang says
"I'm talking about earlier when Dr. Oobleck asked us questions. Upholding the legacy, there is more to it than that." Weiss says
"There is more than just thrill seeking to me too. I think." Yang says
"I know what I wanna do but I don't know how to get there. Im just taking it one step at a time." Blake says
"I could give you the answer but it has more meaning if you discover it for yourself." Kyra says from her hammock.
"Perfect a text book campfire." Oobleck says coming in.
"Ooh, Fire." Ruby says
Kyra is suddenly up from the hammock and kisses Ruby.
"I have first watch so everyone else can go to bed." Kyra says.
"Good night Ruby." Kyra says
"Thanks Kyra." Ruby says knowing the rest of the team is exhausted.
2 hours later Professor Oobleck comes up behind Kyra.
"So Sapphire Kyra Stark." Oobleck says sitting next to Kyra.
"I'm sure you have plenty of questions Professor. I will answer one." Kyra says knowing he wants to ask her about stuff.
"Okay, why do you keep your weapons secret? If the world knew what you had today, we could probably push the Grimm back far enough to reclaim the continent." Oobleck asks
"As a professor of history, you should understand it is never that simple." Kyra says looking down at the city.
"Enlighten me." Oobleck says.
"History is equal parts heroism, tragedy, and misunderstanding. 80 years ago we had a devastating Great War which ushered in the age we are in today. Very rarely have we displayed those three components of history more than in that war."Kyra says
"Go on." Oobleck says wondering where she is going.
"Vale is a strong kingdom the king of the kingdom fought on the battle field and won, but rather than conquering he offered everyone peace. He put in a system to hopefully keep that peace. But for some reason, Atlas kept developing and improving its weapons, they have gotten full of themselves and see themselves as peace keepers. They are so prideful on their technology that they would do anything to not be surpassed, they would invent more and crazier weapons to fight the Grimm. Problem is that's not what a weapon is. As a history teacher you should know what a weapon is." Kyra says
"A weapon is a tool used to kill an enemy quickly and efficiently in a time of conflict." Oobleck says
"Exactly so if I surpass Atlas' weapons or they know I surpass them. They will surely try harder to catch up. Next thing that happens is an arms race where we are constantly trying to out do each other's weapons. Then all it takes is a single accident like an ȧssassination of a leader and the ȧssassin makes it look like Vale is responsible. Those weapons that were designed to fight Grimm are suddenly turned on Humans and Faunus. The two countries would be at war and the other two would get dragged into it as atlas would need the resources.. I don't know if the Humans and Faunus can survive a Second World War while having to fight the Grimm." Kyra says
