5. Crazy Arms and Legs

It’s hot. It’s hot. It’s hot!

I only went out for a while, but the nanny raised the temperature in the room, fearing that I might have caught a cold.

On top of that, she covered the outer garment that the Emperor had given, making it stifling hot.

Nanny. Is it your first time raising a child?

It’s not. I’m sure Oscar’s nanny was also my nanny.

If I whine for no reason, I’m sure i’ll hear  ‘it’s not time to change the diapers just yet.’

Today the mobile was boasting brilliant grandeur again, turning slowly.

‘So who the hell was that red-eyed boy?’

The strange sensation I felt at that time seemed to still remain.

‘It bothers me.’

But in reality, I can’t do anything.

“Moooo…”

There was a meaningless babble, and the entrance to the room suddenly became noisy.

“His Majesty, the Emperor.”

‘You came again.’

The sound of footsteps came close quickly and soon stopped beside me. And as if it were obvious, I was dangling in the air.

“Hm?”

The Emperor’s blue eyes, which were closely watching me, have thinned out. I dodged the Emperor’s eyes with sweat.

“I think she’s a little heavier than before.”

“She just finished her meal.”

That’s too delicate. But that wasn’t the end of the Emperor’s interrogation.

“Why is she sweating so much again?”

“I covered her with the clothes you gave in case she caught a cold.”

“I see. But what is this too? I haven’t seen it.”

“Oh, that’s a gift from a maid to the Princess.”

“It needs to have a poison test.”

“……Yes?”

“We should not rule out the slightest possibility of danger.”

‘Cheer up, Nanny.’

All I could give was support in my heart.

For a long time , the Emperor has been roasting the maids, including the Nanny.

In the end, I had to step forward.

“Kitty.”

“Mabel?”

“Kitty!”

I couldn’t help but suddenly ask why kitty was a stranger.

I don’t know how to say anything else, and I decided to do it with that concept that I can only say ‘kitty.’

Fortunately, the Emperor’s attention returned to me.

“You like kitties that much?”

“Kitty.”

‘Forget it, kitty.’

It’s not that I like cats, it’s just that’s all I can say.

I tried to hypnotize myself and think of myself as a normal baby.

‘I’m a baby. I’m a baby. I’m an ordinary baby. The only thing I can say is kitty…!’

“You must like kitties, Mabel.”

No, that is not necessarily right……

“Then I will offer you the North Forest of the Imperial Palace.”

“……?”

Yes?

‘You’re kidding, aren’t you?’

I thought, of course, it’s a joke, but suddenly the Emperor beckoned an aide on standby.

“Did you hear that?”

“Yes, your Majesty.”

“Transfer ownership of the northern forest to Mabel.”

“His Majesty’s orders will be followed.”

“!!”

No, wait! This isn’t right!

The aide, who seemed to accept it a matter of course, was absurd.

‘Your Emperor is out of his mind! I can’t believe you gave the forest to your daughter who’s only two months old!’

However, the aide replied as if it was normal.

The others didn’t seem very surprised either.

I was the only one who was shocked.

I just closed my lips. I have a lot to say, but I couldn’t.

“Hm? I don’t think Mabel likes it. What do you think, Gustav?”

“In my opinion……”

Gustav, an aide, carefully read the Emperor’s countenance.

I was expecting.

‘Are you finally going to say something?’

But…

“I think the northern forest of the Imperial Palace is not very scenic. It’s no match for the Imperial villas but around the forests.”

He wasn’t; stopping him, he was taking another bite!

Rather than snorting, the Emperor seriously contemplated the nonsense.

“I see. Yes, it makes sense.”

‘What the point. There’s no such thing! How do babies know things like landscaping?!’

But my silent clamor did not reach anyone.

The emperor, who was fiddling with my cheek with a serious expression, finally opened his mouth.

“Okay. Then let’s do this. Gustav. Record it.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

“Mabel. I’ll give you the Ponce Castle.”

…you’ll give what?

He smiled affectionately as I gazed at the Emperor with my mouth wide open.

“Of course, the Northern forest of the Imperial Palace is yours, so don’t worry.”

Suddenly I became ‘Mabel Who Became Rich in Two Months.’

***

A distinguished guest visited the Ermano Empire.

Priests of Shin Sung and Abelardo, who claim to be agents of the noble God.

No one in this world did not believe in God, so they were treated as VIPS in any country.

However, for Emperor Esteban, they were no less than uninvited guests.

What’s more, is they’re those who came after his lovely daughter.

‘The bastards of the temple.’

Esteban’s patience was exhausted just by not kicking them out.

Although he accepted Gustav’s torch, he couldn’t get rid of it. (T/N: Sorry, I don’t know what this means)

Esteban sat on the throne and looked down at the priests with his chin slanted.

“Your Majesty, the Emperor of Ermano.”

It was Montego, a high priest of Abelardo, who greeted him as a representative.

Esteban didn’t like Montego very much because of his sly standing and disoriented attitude.

The two met once every few years, he didn’t expect to see him two years in a row.

His mood was bad.

“I’m sure you were surprised by the sudden visit.”

“Surprised. Indeed.”

Although all the letters from the priests were torn up and used for fire, it was predicted that they would visit soon.

But they didn’t know they would start acting so soon.

“I heard that you visited Ermano for the exchange of ancient new languages. Please do good research.”

‘As fast as possible.’

Esteban struggled to swallow back the words.

It was because there was no advantage being hostile towards the priests of Abelardo.

However, it was fortunate that he didn’t need to be nice to them.

“Thank you for your consideration, Your Majesty. We will try to produce great results for Abelardo and Ermano.”

“Yes, then back off–.”

He tried to hurry and kick them out, but it didn’t work out as Esteban wanted.

“I have something to tell you about Princess Mabel Winter Gardenia Ermano.”

Montego’s eyes glistened with tenacity looking as cunning as a snake.

Esteban sighed and leaned back his tired body.

“Mabel Gardenia Ermano.”

He decisively corrected the name of Mabel that Montego called.

In the name Mabel Winter Gardenia Ermano, “Winter” was a divine name that God had given with a prophecy to Mabel.

At the time of Mabel’s birth, the Holy Land informed that the princess had been given another name, but Esteban refused to accept it.

If he accepts it, they’ll be more eager to take Mabel away.

“I did not recognize Abelardo’s oracle. How can I be sure that the oracle is subjected to Mabel?”

Abelardo claimed  the hero of the oracle was Mabel on the basis of the fact that the Ermano Empire was located in the very Far East and that a bolt of lightning struck the dry sky when Mabel was born.

But it was all a coincidence, so it was a matter of refutation.

“I knew Your Majesty would say that.”

Despite Esteban’s harsh attitude, Montego remained calm.

*bone cracking sfx*

Gustav flinched at the sound of something breaking.

‘Your majesty. Please not murder…!’

Although all the lieutenants were relieved that the Emperor’s fiery temper had abated after marrying Empress Siana, was it finally coming back to normal?

The present issue was about Mabel, hoping that the lovely princess would alleviate the Emperor’s wrath.

There was an awful silence.

“…It hasn’t been long since Mabel has been born. Are you saying that I should send my fragile child to the Holy Land for an oracle that has plenty of room for interpretation?”

Esteban’s voice was full of anger.

Gustav’s face turned pale and sour as Esteban was in danger of exploding at any moment.

Montego smiled vainly and took something out of his bosom.

“This is what King Shin handed over to his Majesty. They say you’ll know when you see it.”

The servant received the goods on a tray and was seen by Gustav. Gustav, who confirmed that there was no danger, presented Esteban with the goods.

Even Esteban once had a glimpse of the impressive ornaments of red jewels embossed with colorful patterns.

“The Sun-Hwang’s pendant.”

(T/N: I searched up what sun-hwang (선황) means, supposedly it translates to ex-emperor, I’m not 100% sure if that is what it means in this context because that would mean he’s Esteban’s father, right? Idk so I’ll keep it as “Sun-Hwang.”)

It was a pendant that the Sun-Hwang always carried around.

From this, it was possible to see why Mabel was asked for from the Holy Land.

The Sun-Hwang once fought for succession to become the Emperor and received help from the Holy Lands.

As a token, he shared a pendant with the God of the Holy Lands, and the other was kept in Esteban’s treasury.

“The Sun-Hwang, who has already closed his eyes, will repay the lost light with my child instead. How should I take it?”

Esteban was smiling, but the smile was fierce.

A blue vein broke out on the back of Esteban’s hand holding the pendant.

He gave Gustav the pendant with caution. Before long, the pendant returned to Montego’s hand.

“You know it doesn’t mean that, Your Majesty.”

“It only sounds to me to sell my child. Did I hear wrong?”

“What King Shin wants is to protect the objects of the oracle. Huuu… I know that we cannot take the Princess to the Holy Land immediately. It’s an unreasonable request.

From sighing, Montego’s expression changed.

Esteban frowned at the changed attitude of Montego.

He thought he’d carry on the repeatable conversation until the end, but it was too soon to change his attitude.

‘Just what the hell are they dreaming?’

He hated the Abelardo bastards because he couldn’t figure them out.

Montego, who took the pendant, took it as an example as if it couldn’t be helped.

“Your Majesty’s refusal is firm, so we’ll leave for now.” (Montego)

But Esteban was not careless. There must be something to follow.

As expected, Montego did not disappoint.

“Instead, please do me a favor.”

“Let’s hear it.”

“I ask to see the Princess.”

Esteban looked down at Montego, who bowed his head.

They’ve been rambling before, but these men would never have expected to take Mabel. Esteban wouldn’t say yes.

‘This was their purpose from the beginning.’

Esteban wanted to refuse at once, if he could, but their backing was difficult.

He had no choice but to accept the request if there was no justification, as he made. situation in which he could not refuse a small request by citing the deal between the Emperor and King.

‘Well, it shouldn’t matter.’

Since he will be next to Mabel at all times anyway, if they are likely to pose a threat, he will impose sanctions appropriately.

Esteban nodded his head.

“Fine. There are conditions instead.”

“What is it?”

“I will be with you. And the others are 20 meters apart from Mabel. Contact is absolutely forbidden, and use of magic or divinity is also prohibited. If Mabel bursts into tears, I’ll finish the meeting immediately.”

“…”

‘This crazy idiot.’

Montego could not hide his expression of absurdity.

It was the first time he threw off his smoke after visiting Ermano. (T/N: Meaning he couldn’t hide his feelings)

***

Three months have already passed since I was born.

Fortunately, nothing happened to me in the meantime.

Like other babies, I grew up in the care of a nanny.

I looked at the movement by sucking the side that the nanny had given.

The nanny was knitting. Xavier was away. Lalima was cleaning up the laundry.

‘It was good.’

Fortunately, the nanny laid me on the side, making things easier.

I struggled with my limbs trying to get down.

“guuuuuu……”

‘Please let the turn over just for today!’

But the world doesn’t go my way.

“Huuuuuuu…”

My head is too heavy.

“Hek hek…”

I picked my breath with my arms down that had no strength.

‘I can’t help it. Let’s practice flipping around here.’

It was still daytime, and if I was caught sweating again, it might cause an accidental death that would cause an unnecessary waste of manpower like before.

Looking at it, it’s really strange. Even though it’s been three months already, the attitudes of the biological father and the family registry were still the same.

No. Rather he pretended to be close more severely. At this point.

Of course I was tired and I thought he would stop coming, but it was my mistake.

It’s a bit severe to come visit all the time.

“Mabel.”

…That’s right. Like this.

Entering familiarly by calling my name, Oscar took off his jacket, washed his hands, and clung to my cradle.

“Did you wait for me?”

*sucking sfx*

Instead of answering I only sucked hard.

It’s not even worth answering.

Fortunately, I didn’t get caught practicing flipping.

Oscar took the seat next to me and opened the book.

“Mabel. I’ll read you a book.”

Okay. I’m bored so read it.

Maybe a fairy tale book? I made a commitment not to ridicule even if the content was very childish.

*Crack* Oscar, who cracked his neck, started to read without hesitation.

“About the ills of Bordeauxism claimed by Algor Chekhov.”

“…?”

Hey, I’m only three months old, got it?
