7. I Didn’t See Because of You

When the shock went out, the door opened with a ‘Gwang!’ sound.

“Mabel!!”

I couldn’t do anything because I was lying on my stomach, but I could tell from the voice that it was the Emperor who came in.

‘Phew. I survived.’

You can’t kidnap me anymore.

The sound of footsteps quickly drew near. I could feel a familiar touch on my neck.

“Montego. What did you do to Mabel?”

The Emperor interrogated him with a harsh voice.

“No, I didn’t even touch her Highness.”

“What are you talking about? Then why is Mabel lying on her stomach?”

“Well, her Highness turned over herself.”

“…What?”

A stifling silence has arrived.

After a while.

*swiing*

The sound of a sword being pulled out was heard.

“I really didn’t touch her Highness at all. I swear in God’s name!”

I could hear the sound of knees on the ground. It seemed like the Emperor aimed his sword at the man.

What if he dies like that? It wasn’t really my problem, but it still didn’t feel good.

You were trying to kidnap me, but you really didn’t touch me.

‘Good. Let’s help that man first.’

…But I couldn’t

I succeeded in flipping over, but there was another problem.

I was exhausted.

The conversation was going on even as I struggled.

“I swear, I didn’t touch her high……!”

“Yes. That’s the problem”

“….yes?”

Quickly. I heard a gnarled tooth. And the Emperor said.

“…I didn’t see Mabel flip because of you.”

Ah…

The priest and I lamented at the same time.

***

On the dark night, the invasion of the uninvited guests put the Imperial Palace on alert.

“The Abelardo bastards.”

The knights and sorcerers who were waiting for the Emperor’s thunder were all nervous.

Montego could get to the Princess because they were absent of their responsibilities.

Princess Mabel’s position was special.

She was second in line to the throne of the Ermano family and the sole successor of Marquis Gardenia.

Because Marquis Gardenia had many enemies, it was highly likely that political opponents would move early to remove his granddaughter, who might later become a housekeeper.

So Esteban tightened security at the palace where Mabel stayed and increased reconnaissance forces.

In addition, the wizards were ordered to create barriers.

So it was thought that it was enough protection for Mabel, but it wasn’t.

“I never thought he’d make a gap in the barrier.”

Esteban gnashed his teeth. The difference was so fine that even the wizards, who were checking every single day, didn’t notice.

From the beginning, Abelardo had planned to kidnap Mabel.

“I should have dug his eyeballs out…”

Esteban muttered cooly.

The old knights and sorcerer who recalled Esteban from the crown prince’s days lamented.

‘No way… will those nightmares reappear?’

Those days that are full of blood in the wind.

They longed for the moment for the dead Empress to return.

But that wasn’t possible.

No matter how much of the child of the oracle she was, the Princess is the only daughter of the Emperor.

Fortunately, it was an attempted kidnap. But it was natural for him to be angry because someone attempted to kidnap the Princess.

‘But it’s difficult to dig eyeballs out…’

They looked at each other as if they had promised.

If you torture or kill Montego, it will cause diplomatic friction with the Holy Land.

Who will risk their life to swear to the Emperor!

It was Gerald, the leader of the knights, who eventually lost after a short but stifling fight.

Age is the cause of defeat.

Unspoken pressure on him to step up because he is the leader of the knights and is obliged to take a lot of responsibility for his duties weighed down on him.

‘The spoiled young ones. If you’re going to die, it’s going to be the old me who dies. This is why these days…’

Gerald looked up at the Emperor, vowing that he would give him a shout all day long if he passed without a hitch.

“Your Majesty. I think it’s too much to punish the sinner. You have to consider your relationship with Abelardo.”

“Excessive, treatment…”

A short version of Gerald’s words, Esteban shut his mouth,

The longer the silence was, the more the faces of the people became whiter except for Estebans.

‘As expected, it’s wrong to go home today.’

Gerald closed his eyes solemnly. The faces of his family waiting came to mind.

He had not a single regret for having spoken directly to the Emperor.

His humble appearance held back the knights’ tears.

‘Im sorry, right now…!’

Finally, with a face that seems likely to kill anyone, the Emperor opened his mouth.

“Mabel cried.”

“…Yes?”

“She doesn’t cry very often, but when Montego approached her, she cried in surprise.”

Gerald looked closely at him, wondering if he was joking, but Esteban was perfectly sincere.

Gerald came to his sense in a hurry.

He was speechless for a moment, but this could really destroy diplomatic relationships with Abelardo.

“…I fully understand Your Majesty’s feelings, but you must consider diplomatic relations.”

Rumors of Mabel had already spread far and wide within the Imperial Palace.

It is a legendary story that the Princess was insanely cherished. The Emperor had given her Ponce Castle and all sorts of precious treasures, starting with the Northern Forest of the Imperial Palace.

Even if the officials asked to meet her once, they were not listened to.

‘Those… are not rumors.’

It was a moment when the love of his daughter was proved under all circumstances.

“Is that… so.”

Gerald replied trembling. He couldn’t figure out how to react to the Emperor’s excessive love for his daughter.

‘No, that’s not love for his daughter, but obsession for his daughter.’

“Actually, I would have already torn his limbs in different directions. If it weren’t for Mabel.”

Those harsh words made everyone feel the same way.

‘Your Highness the Princess, good job.’

Mabel’s presence has allowed him to overcome the diplomatic crisis.

Putting aside the fact that Mabel is the cause of the situation.

“But Gerald, since you’re so against it, let’s put the Montego case on hold. We’d better put him in jail and see what Abelardo’s reaction is.”

Some breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, an all-out war against the Holy Land has been avoided.

It was fortunate that Esteban hadn’t lost his mind more than they thought, but then he opened his mouth again.

“So, Gerald. I’m going to try to trust your view.”

“Yes? My vision…”

“Mabel needs an escort.”

It was Esteban’s conclusion after last night’s attempted kidnapping.

What’s the point of increasing the guards at the palace to protect Mabel. It was easily pierced.

So Mabel needed a force to stay close to her so that she wouldn’t be exposed to danger.

He wanted to do it himself, but he couldn’t stay with Mabel all day because of his position.

Esteban scattered the obsequious knights greatly.

The knights, with their heads down, tried not to make eye contact with the Emperor.

‘…If you get chosen you die!’

Being a Princess’s escort knight is a so-called honey job that can skip hell training for legitimate reasons, but it was also a double-edged sword -like position that had to take responsibility that could not be handled.

“…There possibly couldn’t be anyone?”

The voice of the low sinking Esteban swept the crowd.

The silence was so quiet that even the sound of someone swallowing saliva was loud.

One man walked out.

“I will be the Princess’s escort.”

It was Lissandro Donovan, the brother of Duke Donovan.

***

*sucking*

At first I didn’t understand sucking a bottle, but now I can understand.

How happy I am to have something to suck so freely in this harsh world.

(T/N: Someone get me a bible, my mind is too dirty)

The sucking is the only drug God allowed me.

“You’re smiling brightly. Do you like sucking that much?”

Lalima, who was arranging my toys, smiled and asked. I just sucked instead of answered.

By the way, what happened to the man named Montego who tried to kidnap me yesterday?

The last scene I saw was the scary-faced Emperor frag Montego out of my room.

Unlike that gruesome night, my room during the idle day was so peaceful.

“Her highness, the princess knows how to flip now.”

Xavier said as he passed by. Lalima opened her eyes wide.

“What? Lies!”

“You never believe me. Last time you didn’t with the golden divine beast. Trust me a little.”

“I’d like to believe you too, but you’re unreliable.”

“Hooo…”

Xavier sighed and headed for the door.

 ‘Poor Xavier. Cheer up.’

All I can give you is this cheer.

Even though they quarreled every day, they looked like brothers and sisters. I’ve been close to them since I was born, so it might seem more intimate.

I stared blankly at the ceiling, sucking on the bottle.

Having lived without siblings all the time, I envied people who had people to rely on. SO the relationship between Xavier and Lalima seemed even better.

Of course, I now have a brother named Oscar, but it didn’t really hit me.

‘Someday I’ll have a family that I can rely on…’ (T/N: You have one already…)

It was then.

“Hello, little princess?”

Suddenly something popped up in front of me.

…tuk.

Surprised, the bottle slipped out of my mouth, fell on the floor and rolled around.

“Ah, it fell.”

The uninvited guest, bending over to pick up my bottle, was a man I’ve never seen.

A man with black hair and soft green eyes.

It was impressive to see the slight long hair tied in a ponytail.

‘Who is he?’

It would not have been an ordinary person as there could not have been an assassin hiding in the middle of the day.

“Are you surprised? The surprised little princess is also cute.”

Just who is he to act this friendly.

“Hiing.”

I turned around with a whine. When I glanced at him, the man was awkwardly grasping the bottle and laughing embarrassedly.

He certainly isn’t an assassin, but who is he?

By the way, while I was contemplating, everyone went out, only the man and I were in the room.

It’s probably not an assassin because security is tight.

“You don’t hate me seeing me for the first time, do you?”

I could hear the man laughing bitterly.

You know I don’t like it. I turned around and pretended to play with the rattle.

At that moment, there was the sound of the door opening.

“Oh my. You’re here, Sir Donovan. You came early.”

The nanny greeted the man.

You two know each other? Interested, I turned back and observed the two.

The man kissed the back of the nanny’s hand and smiled feverishly.

“Long time no see, Madame Lupe. You’ve become more beautiful than I last saw you.”

“Oh hoh. You’re still a smooth talker.”

Sir Donovan? Is he a knight.

No, more than that, Donovan is the last name of the Empress…!

“I’m already happy to be able to see Madame Lupe every day in the future.”

I opened my mouth wide at the man’s words.

‘Why would you see the nanny everyday? Why? Why?’

The question was quickly unraveled.

“I’m relieved to hear that Sir Donovan, the sword master is escorting the Princess. Even if you don’t I have a lot of worries.”

“I’m honored, Madame.”

The uninvited guest who appeared out of nowhere seemed to be my escort.

It was a good thing that there was a guard around me since I knew it wasn’t safe around me, but in many ways I didn’t like that man.

First, I didn’t know if I should trust someone from the Empress’s family.

The former empress, the current duke, would of course hate me, but the same would be true of a man from the same family.

Second, I don’t like his first impression. It’s my first time seeing him, but he pretended to be close to me, and he was being a flirt to the nanny.

He’s very handsome, but too sly!

As I glared at Sir Donovan with the displeasure that came up from inside, he looked down at me with a perplexed smile.

“But I think the little Princess hates me.”

“Oh my. No way. She is very gentle and nice.”

No, nanny. I’m a bad person when I’m bad.

‘No matter how much I look at him, he has a terrible face. I think he’s a flirt!’

Hwik.

I turned my body away again.

“Don’t worry, sir. Her Highness may have been surprised by what happened last night. Oh, it’s terrible. Trying to kidnap her Highness…”

The nanny’s voice was clouded by grief.

She looked fine, but I think she was feeling guilty about what I went through.

‘Im fine…”

It wasn’t the nanny’s fault. It’s the fault of a man named Montego who was determined to kidnap me.

“Mammy!” (Nanny!)

…No one will believe me, but I called the nanny.

Anyway, at my call, the nanny saw me. I extended my arms to the nanny.

“Oh my! Your highness…!”

The nanny hugged me in surprise. She looked as if she was happy.

“You asked to hit me first? Look at this, Sir. She’s gentle and kind.”

I wasn’t gentle and nice, but somehow I felt like I had to pretend.

I grinned at Sir Donovan.

Then Sir Donovan covered his mouth with one hand.

The nanny looked at me, looking at Sir Donovan,

“Sir?”

“Wait a minute, Madame. Hold on. Take a deep breath. Let me take a deep breath…”

…?

What’s wrong with him all of a sudden?

Turning his head for a moment, Sir Donovan picked his breath and looked at me again.

I smiled reluctantly at Sir Donovan with a sour face.

‘Here I go, laugh.’

Then suddenly Sir Donovan hardened his face.

Then in a low voice, called the nanny.

“Madame.”

“Yes?”

“She is not her Royal Highness. It’s obvious.”

“What does that….?”

‘…Nonsense?’

Perhaps this is what the nanny left out.

I stared at Sir Donovan’s handsome face in bewilderment.

Sir Donovan, who made eye contact with me, said, “Hyup!” and closed his mouth again.

“You must be an angel from heaven. The oracle was real!”

Ahhhh…

I swallowed a sigh in my heart. Me, can this man escort me?

Following the Emperor, Oscar, and my servant, it was the emergence of a new fool.

That fool is my escort, I think the Emperor actually hates me.

When such a reasonable doubt was held firmly by the nape of the nanny’s dress, the door was wide open.

“Mabel!”

It was Oscar’s attendance check for today.

Oscar, who used to sticking to his mature attitude, became a little younger when he only came to my room.

You don’t knock on the door and jump in a rude way.

Without the Emperor’s appearance, there was no one to blame Oscar.

A bright-faced Oscar was seen over the wide-opened door.

But the bright face turned white before a few steps away.

“…huk.”

Oscar, who breathed a short breath, just stopped. It was Sir Donovan where the frightened gaze was facing.

“U-uncle…”
