Chapter 73.2: First High School (32)

July 19, 2023 by Wyrd

Especially that teacher. His body had twisted to the point where it’s almost impossible to maintain a human form. The whole person seemed as if he had been chopped up and then stitched back together. It’s incredibly horrifying.

Moreover, those students and players who had their heads twisted were also among them, holding their twisted heads and walking crookedly.

Blood had completely stained their school uniforms red, and it even dripped onto the ground, appearing extremely eerie and terrifying.

After several players clearly saw this, their scalps went numb, their hair stood on end, and they instantly broke out in a cold sweat.

They silently retreated, hoping to leave before the ghosts noticed them.

However, it was already too late.

The ghosts noticed them and immediately rushed towards them, walking crookedly. Their pair of empty, whitened eyes stared at them, emanating an inexplicable chill.

Moreover, the ghosts seemed unusually excited. The corners of their mouths cracked, revealing a horrifying and eerie smile. Their twisted expressions seemed as if they were about to devour them completely.

Some ghosts even pounced so fast that their heads fell to the ground with a ‘thud’, producing a chilling sound.

Although it was a sunny day, the entire corridor was incredibly gloomy and terrifying, sending shivers down one’s spine.

Seeing this, the group immediately turned around and entered the corner of the stairs, then ran upstairs.

Ruan Qing was also afraid, tears swirling in his eyes, as if they were about to fall in the next second. But he was running too slowly and quickly fell behind the rest of the group.

At Ruan Qing’s pace, it was possible that those things would catch up to him before he could even reach the second floor. After all, the speed of those ghosts wasn’t too fast, but it was much faster than his.

The player in front of Ruan Qing glanced at him and then came to an abrupt halt.

The teenager was obviously not good at sports and had poor physical stamina. After running just a few steps, he started to breathe heavily. Perhaps due to extreme fear, his delicate face turned pale, while a hint of redness appeared at the corners of his eyes, as if he was on the verge of tears.

His body tensed with uneasiness, giving off an aura of vulnerability and helplessness.

It captured people’s attention.

Because of that player’s actions, both of them ended up being the last ones, and the ghosts had already appeared at the staircase.

After realizing this, the player immediately reached out and grabbed the hand of the teenager, running upstairs together.

With someone pulling him, he was able to move much faster. Ruan Qing didn’t struggle and instead held tightly onto the other person’s hand, afraid of being left behind.

The player’s livestream room was taken aback.

[??? Did our streamer change? Or am I seeing things? Did the big shot actually take the initiative to hold hands with that school bully?!]

[I must be seeing things too. Wasn’t the big shot the one who hated others clinging to him? How come he’s willingly extending his thigh? That’s unlike him!]

[Double standards are inherent to human nature. Just look at how handsome the teenager is. If it were me, I’d gladly extend my thigh and beg the teenager to hug it! I’m just saying, can we set the standard for NPC attractiveness in dungeons like this? Even if it means going bankrupt, I’d be willing to see it every day!]

[Sigh, don’t overthink it. Those ghosts are obviously small fries. If that NPC were to die here, how would they attract the attention of the big boss? I think that’s the real reason the big shot is running with him.]

[That makes sense. No one can attract the boss’s attention better than him. It would be a complete waste if he dies here. But I am curious about how he managed to drive the top-ranked student to suicide. Was it because of jealousy over his top-ranking achievements, so he played with his emotions and then discarded him?]

The players quickly ran up the stairs. Upstairs were various classrooms for special subjects. They took a quick look and didn’t continue going up. Instead, they directly entered an art classroom and tightly closed the door.

In truth, the group didn’t intend to wait for the two people trailing behind. The player who was with Ruan Qing, upon seeing them closing the door, pulled Ruan Qing into his embrace and swiftly rushed in.

In the end, the two of them made it into the art classroom before the door closed.

They only closed the door without locking it because once the door was locked, it would signal to the people outside that someone was inside the classroom, thereby exposing their location.

After entering the classroom, the player released Ruan Qing and looked around at the structure of the room.

The classroom was obviously an art classroom, filled with easels and paint. There were two large cabinets at the back of the room, presumably used for storing supplies.

This was the second floor, a height from which, even if someone jumped out of the window, they wouldn’t die from the fall. If they were slightly agile, they might not even get injured. That’s why they didn’t continue running upstairs.

Because once they reached the third floor, if they were trapped in a classroom, even jumping out of the window would be dangerous.

Ruan Qing had very poor physical stamina. Even though someone was pulling him along, he was already struggling to catch his breath.

So he didn’t immediately examine the structure of the art classroom. Instead, he leaned against the nearby desk, silently panting, trying to calm his rapid heartbeat and breathing caused by intense movement.

The few people inside the classroom stared at the teenager, who had slightly parted lips and was struggling to breathe, and they were directly stunned.

No matter what a beautiful person did, it was pleasing to the eye. Even if they were gasping for breath, it seemed as if they were being teased and could only gasp, revealing an alluring sexiness for no reason.

The gasping accelerated people’s heartbeats and made them... lose control.

In reality, Ruan Qing’s current state could not be considered good; it could even be described as disheveled. His hair was disarrayed, and a few strands were dampened by sweat on his cheeks, giving him a somewhat messy appearance.

However, this disheveled look did not diminish his elegance in the slightest. It exuded a sense of disorder and fragility, as if he was a delicate porcelain, beautiful but easily shattered.

One touch and it would break.

Intense movements made Ruan Qing’s throat uncomfortable. He instinctively swallowed a mouthful of saliva and took about ten seconds to adjust before feeling better. He looked at the player who had just pulled him along and silently said, “Thank you.”

Just as the player was about to speak, there came the sound of footsteps from outside the classroom.

It was... the ghosts catching up.

The players froze and hurriedly found places to hide. Some hid in front of the classroom’s podium.

Most of them squeezed into the two large cabinets at the back. Those cabinets were very spacious and could easily accommodate several people.

Ruan Qing also hid inside with a few other players.

In the excessively quiet atmosphere, even the slightest sound would appear particularly loud, not to mention that the cabinet door was closed, plunging everything into darkness, with only a faint light seeping through the crack in the cabinet. However, due to the tightly closed door, that ray of light was unable to illuminate the dim interior of the cabinet.

Four people were hiding inside this cabinet, including Ruan Qing, so they were packed together uncomfortably.

But at this moment, nobody cared about their comfort. They all tensed their nerves, making an effort to breathe softly and quietly, while attentively listening to the sounds outside.

The footsteps were getting closer.

Ruan Qing could hear the classroom door being pushed open, followed by something swaying and stumbling in. The footsteps were fragmented and irregular.

It seemed like it was dragging something, producing unpleasant scraping sounds on the floor.

After the footsteps had gone on for a while, they stopped. Then, strange sounds emerged—sounds that seemed like footsteps, but also resembled water droplets falling onto the ground.

Those sounds carried an eerie emptiness, seemingly close by, causing an inexplicable tingling sensation on the scalp.

Everyone inside the classroom was filled with nervousness, holding their breath, afraid of being discovered by the ghosts.

There were many classrooms in this building, and the ghosts couldn’t possibly search each one thoroughly. As long as they could evade the ghosts, they would be able to descend to the archive room on the ground floor.

Time passed unknowingly, perhaps only a few seconds, maybe a few minutes. The footsteps resounded once again, this time gradually growing distant, as if the ghosts were leaving the classroom.

Ruan Qing breathed a sigh of relief, but it seemed he relaxed too soon, because in the darkness, something seemed to touch his waist.

Ruan Qing widened his eyes, and tears filled them instantly. His body trembled uncontrollably.

Was it... a ghost?

In the next second, a slightly warm sensation reached him, which calmed Ruan Qing down a little. It wasn’t a ghost.

Because it belonged to a human’s warmth.

Ruan Qing pursed his lips, moved in the opposite direction, trying to avoid that hand.

And the player, who was originally looking outside through, frowned as he glanced at the approaching teenager.

Was he... seducing him?

Hmm, this guy really was a fickle person.

A trace of disgust appeared in the player’s eyes, but he didn’t avoid the other and let Ruan Qing get close to him.

In the dark cabinet, nothing could be seen, which made people more afraid. It also heightened all senses, not to mention the ghosts walking outside the cabinet.

It made people even more uneasy.

Ruan Qing clearly felt a hand lifting his clothes slightly and sliding inside, gently caressing his waist.

Ruan Qing wanted to stop it, but because the person was behind him, he couldn’t do anything. If he made any sudden movements, it was highly likely to alert the ghosts that were walking out.

So Ruan Qing could only tightly hold on to his clothes and lean forward, trying to avoid that hand.

But the space in the cabinet was so small, and there was someone in front of him. He practically leaned directly into the arms of the person in front of him.

But Ruan Qing didn’t care about that anymore. At least this way, he could leave space behind him and turn around to stop it.

However, just as he was about to turn around, the man in front of him hugged his waist, lowered his voice, and spoke in a voice that only Ruan Qing could hear, “Is this how you seduce the top-ranked student?”

Ruan Qing: “...?”

What was he talking about? Who was seducing whom?

The man continued, his low tone carrying a hint of sarcasm, “Do you have no shame? Do you seduce any man you see?”

“I saw that player protect you just now and pull you along. Did you seduce him, too?”

“Did he kiss you?”

Ruan Qing tugged at the corner of his mouth, about to speak, when suddenly a drop of water fell on his face, making his face uncomfortably wet.

Ruan Qing instinctively reached out to wipe it, but the next second he froze.

They’re in the cabinet... Where did the water come from?
