Azrie Part: 2/2

As the notification pinged my mind the whole cave shook. The tunnels began to shake and rattle as I heard a myriad of footsteps come my way, slithering, rocks being pounced, bounced and broken. The cave itself trembled as I quickly prepared myself for battle. I tentatively played with two arrows between my fingers as I wondered what the skill actually did—well it was self-explanatory, the problem is the knowledge I had received made zero sense. The only thing I could think of when thinking about it were two strands interweaving, colorful ones and shiny ones.

I saw three silhouettes in the distance of one of the caves running towards me.

I frowned and prepared explosive shot along with power draw, and then— I had a lingering feeling that I could do more. Within my head a thought resounded. Do more. Burrowing Shot. Try it. It was odd, but I listened and tried to change the nature of the arrow only to sense the mana within it shift—accommodating towards the tip, and forming a barrier around it as the rest remained overloaded.

It felt right. A Burrowing Explosive Arrow?

I shot both arrows towards the leading Rock Zinele. Unaware of the previous bird’s plight, it swept its beak only to have both arrows connect. Unexpectedly, the two arrows did not explode in contact instead they dug— the bird tripped and fell squirming. And soon—it exploded. Its head blew off with a verdant boom.

What? Another thing went off in my mind as I got a new skill.

[Skill Learned — Skill — Mana Sense — Sense mana.

“You’ll also need this.” — The Illusionist, Star Slayer.]

The other skill too had no grade. I had no time to make sense of things, as different colored wind interfered with Penumbral Sense. Penumbral Sense was overridden and replaced with numerous colored lines, faint streaks of the wind. The two birds had thick wind around them, it was a pale brown color, meanwhile the other caves had blue, purple—white, gray. Mana? I grabbed two more arrows and enhanced them both in an instant, everything felt easy.

A bird was shot, this time it burrowed into its claw and its insides exploded. It too died as its legs gave way beneath it, its whole body slid across the ground, bleeding to death. The other bird screeched and threw rocks at me with its wings. I slid across the ground towards the other side of the clearing and quickly nocked two more arrows—the max amount I was comfortable with shooting at decent distances—I overpowered both, bestowing them with both skills and fired as well towards the bird.

The bird dodged as both shots burrowed onto the back of the cave and exploded shortly thereafter. The bird sprawled towards me as I finished my slide, I had no choice but to reach for my spear as once more a nagging feeling reached. Converge. I pushed all the mana onto the tip of the spear, once more applying the basics of burrowing shot into it, the bird pounced as I felt my arms nearly break. The spear dug onto its chest— Expand. The mana exploded within the bird, instantly killing it.

[Skill Learned — Skill — Future Sense — Sense The Future.

“You’re disappointing. You do not have what it takes to survive.” — The Illusionist, Star Slayer.]

I frowned at the quote. This trial— it was all strange. But I had no time as another sense manifested, and I saw— rubble falling. Mana shifted and Penumbral Sense flared, the ceiling collapsed with a deep buzzing screech. I looked up as rubble fell, the rocks themselves followed the path of the ghost rocks. The danger sense increased and the mana shifted once more as I began to have a headache from the amount of things happening. I slid away from all the falling rocks. Narrowly dodging several of them, I looked up only to feel my mind go blank. How was this a fair trial? Even with all these skills—

[Osthus Snake. Lvl. 69]

I felt blood drain from my face as I remembered the words of the trial. Survive. I turned around and fled into a cave hole. Sliding away and ignoring the disaster that was occurring behind me, I turned my attention forward. Ghastly ethereal visions filled the room as I saw the ceiling collapse in on itself just ahead of me. I hastily grabbed an arrow and pushed mana, dropping it beneath my feet as I ran. The explosion pushed me forward with a burst of speed, the ceiling collapsed above me, dust befell and I received a rock to the shoulder. I slid away from the collapse, entering another chamber. Much like the other one, this one too had piercing trees, but—

In one of the faraway corners there was a group of four birds. But two of them were different.

[Rock Zinele. Lvl. 40]

[Water Zinele. Lvl. 37]

[Water Zinele. Lvl. 39]

[Rock Zinele. Lvl. 41]

Their heads simultaneously snapped towards me, as I tried to run further. I grabbed two arrows and slid. Within my vision I saw blue mana coalesce behind me—gather. I heard a squeak, and a wave of pain hit my ribs. I was shot towards the wall mid slide by the sudden hit, and was forced to use an overloaded arrow to stop me from dying against the wall. I felt dull and icy pain on my lower body, as I grabbed the spot that had been hit. It felt hollow and empty.

I looked down only to see part of my side missing, dripping with water, the pain aggravated as soon as I processed my wound. Screeches traveled through the cave as I turned, and saw—more. An army of them as far as the tunnels could see.

[Fire Zinele. Lvl. 46]

[Lightning Zinele. Lvl. 38]

[Plant Zinele. Lvl. 35]

What kind of shit trial was this? I cursed. There was no way this trial was normal — it was abnormal.
