Chapter 54: Secret Love underneath the Precipice

The speed of the wind, the feeling of free-falling to death, countless pictures flashed in his mind and at this moment, Qin Ning thought of many things. And for a moment, he thought that it would be okay to die just like this. Anyways, he still had the incomparable Empress to accompany him. It would not be considered a loss once he died.

“Hey, open your eyes.” The height of the cliff seemed a bit unsatisfactory. She had reached the bottom of the cliff before she felt much and the bottom of the precipice disappointed her even more. It was all just rock and weeds, carrion and dead bones, It could be said that there was fundamentally no scenery whatsoever. Moreover, it even exuded an unpleasant smell, which stimulated her sensitive sense of smell.

Hearing the bantering voice next to his ear, Qin Ning was abruptly awakened from his thoughts and he looked at the person that was within reach in amazement.

“Are we okay?” The bottomless precipice ah, had it all just been his hallucinations. Qin Ning doubted whether what he had experienced was reality. He raised his head in doubt, but only saw misty clouds and then finally had to believe that they had really arrived at the bottom of the cliff. And even after jumping off the cliff, he had turned out unscatehed, it was truly too miraculous.

“Don’t ask such silly questions, it is not like you.” Seeing Qin Ning looking up at the sky, Qianhe Liyou came to the conclusion that even smart people had times where they were stupid.

“You…” Qin Ning heard the Empress’ ridicule and naturally wanted to refute, but instantly realized the identity of the other party, the words that had reached the tip of his tongue were swallowed abruptly. He suddenly knelt violently to the ground, “This consort is guilty, the Empress can punish as your Majesty sees fit!”

He was stupid, otherwise, why had he thought that this woman was going to commit suicide? Why had he jumped down to save her? If he was not stupid, then he wouldnt be currently laughed at by this women at this moment. Not only was he stupid, he had completely become an idiot!

“Guilty? What’s the crime?” Tsk tsk, admitting one’s mistake in such an unconvincing manner, without a trace of sincerity. But, she did not feel angry, rather finding it quite amusing.

“Disrespecting one’s superior, speaking rudely, and believing oneself infallible and meddling in other people’s business!”Anyway, he had already said everything that should and shouldn’t be said and he had done what should and shouldn’t be done. There was nothing to be afraid of now. If the Empress wanted to punish him, then he would receive punishment. He had never been afraid of her before, and he was not afraid of her now. At worst, he would lose his life. Even if he died, Qin Ning would not bow to her again!

The unhappiness in Qin Ning’s tone was too obvious and the expression on his face changed from cold to becoming arrogant and decisive. Even if he was kneeling on the ground, one could feel that he was not surrendering. Qianhe Liyou took in this entire sight and said, “You are angry, why?”

She was the one that had been scolded and she had not even said anything yet. But then why was he the one that was angry? Qianhe Liyou could not understand…

Qin Ning became ever more furious. She had actually asked him why he was angry. Her suddenly asking him this, did she really want him to get angered to death?

“How can this consort dare to be angry!’ Qin Ning stiffly retorted. Of course, he was indignant, but it was just because he was so angry at himself for being so foolish!

“A hypocritical and duplicitous man, But it does not matter. We have all the time in the world to speak slowly.” In the past, she had never been so curious about the lives of others. But after coming to this world, the longer she interacted with these people, the more she found that she was paying more attention to the emotions of these people than before. Sometimes it felt novel, other times it felt interesting. Furthermore, she was not surprised at this point. She could control everything, but she could not control people’s hearts. People’s hearts were unpredictable and the affairs of life were fickle. People were complex due to their thoughts, and she had not been in such profound contact for thousands of years. Now, these people all belonged to her. She wanted to know what they were thinking, and she believed this was her right.

Qianhe Liyou stated that she had found a clean rock and sat down. It was still early and she was not in a hurry to go back. Although the scenery here was not great, due to the passage of time, the air was full of death and there was a faint smell of blood in the air, a favorite of zombies.

Qin Ning continued to kneel on the ground and felt a little at a loss. The Empress’ casual attitude seemed as if she had come here to play and she did not pay any attention to the provocations in his eyes at all. She did not get angry and did not scold him, which greatly diffused his feelings of dissatisfaction. He thought for a while and then rose from the ground, just standing there in place and observing the surrounding environment.

It took about a quarter of an hour before Qin Ning discovered that this place was basically a danger spot, two sides leading to sheer cliffs and precipitous rock faces, while the other two sides were blocked by accumulated boulders. There was no way out at all. Up, down, front, back, left, and right, out of the six roads, five roads were blocked. Unless they climbed up the way they fell, there was no other way. And this so-called only route out was harder than climbing to heaven.

Qin Ning concluded that he could not get out of this place with his own ability, so he could not help to look at Qianhe Liyou who had casually sat down and closed her eyes, calming his rising panic immediately. Her casual and carefree appearance made him jealous and envious, as if it had touched a string that had been buried deep in his heart, reminding him of past events….

Since childhood, he had grown up under the watchful gaze and attention of others. From appearance to talent, from ability to family background, everyone admired him and pursued after him. But who understood his pain and loneliness? The foreordained fate to become the clan’s expendable doll? Not only was he unable to choose the things he liked and express his preferences, he did not even have a say in his own marriage. His future was tightly grasped in the hands of the clan, waiting to be sacrificed at any time.

He was dissatisfied, unwilling to bow his head to fate, so he seized an opportunity. And this opportunity came in the form of the person in front of him. He did not know if that event had been an accident or if everything had been pre-arranged. He had saved her and made a contract with her. She had felt that since this is the future he chose, he would not regret it anyways. His family naturally would not refuse such an arrangement and he was overjoyed that he could enter the palace. Since entering the palace, he had never once regretted it. The Empress was shameless, licentious, tyrannical, irritable and cruel. The more he watched, the more disappointed he became. He just lived a peaceful life in the palace with peace of mind, but now everything had changed. He could no longer live that kind of peaceful, mundane life, because his heart could no longer calm down. All he could think about was this person in front of him. There was anger and resentment, doubts and conjectures, and a deep unwillingness to be lonely…

All kinds of emotions had made him extremely confused, so he came to the hunting grounds every day to run wild, trying to calm his roaring emotions. But he did not expect that he would meet the person he most desired here and that something like this would happen.

Ai, everything was predetermined by the heavens. Then was it the more one wanted to escape, the more you can’t escape? He wanted to control his own destiny, but he found himself to be sinking deeper and deeper, unable to extricate himself. But, how many people in this world could control their own fate…thinking of this, Qin Ning’s gaze on Qianhe Liyou filled with more envy. He thought, only the person in front of him could do so, doing whatever they wanted. Even when stuck in this danger spot, you can still be carefree, as if everything could not affect her and it seemed that everything was under her control. This was really enviable.

“Have you seen enough?” Even if she did not open her eyes, she could feel that complex gaze lingering on her body.

Qin Ning withdrew his envious gaze, sighed and shook his head. He did not want to say anything at the moment, just wanting to find a quiet place. Thinking like this, Qin Nin also found a clean place to lie down and closed his eyes….
