IllyasArt Hello! This is my latest novel! Unlike my other novels, this one isn't finished yet. The first volume is finished, though. And you can buy it on Amazon here. If you would be so kind, you can also get the first volume(and anything else I've made.) on my Patreon for donating $10 or over that, here. If you wish for updates, the $10 and over tiers will give you access to chapters when I actually finish them. (Maybe one a day? Idk, as I will be mainly working on other novels as well. But, there will at least be one new chapter every few days.)

Chapter 82: Bad Cave.

*Celia’s POV*

After walking for many hours, we came across a snowy forest. Which is far better than being in a white wasteland. Despite it not storming at the moment, the wind was still cold. So being in an environment, where the trees blocked most of the wind, was a major improvement for us.

Kuria: “Dammit… I still cannot use magic at all yet.” She said with an annoyed tone.

Celia: “Neither can I.” I say with a sigh.

Kuria: “We can’t walk for much longer, we have been doing so for almost an entire day. The sun will set very soon.” She said with a sigh of her own.

She was right, even a Goddess like her, would want to rest after walking this long. Looking around our surroundings, I spotted a cave. A random cave in a forest? With our luck, there will be some bear like monster using it as a nest…

Kuria: “Celia? What’s wrong?” She asked.

Celia: “There is a cave, over there.” I say while pointing towards the cave.

Kuria: “Oh? Ah, that there is. Shall we use that as a camp for tonight?” She asked with a head tilt.

Celia: “Hopefully? I mean, there might be a monster using it as a nest.” I reply with an unsure tone.

Kuria: “If there is such a monster, then we shall just kill it.” She replied with a shrug.

Celia: “You mean, I shall be the one to kill it.” I say with a smug tone.

Kuria: “Right…” She said with a shaky tone, while not being able to look me in the eyes.

Celia: “Kuria, go climb that tree.” I proposed.

Kuria: “Why!? Is this an attempt to punish me for being useless?” She yelled.

Celia: “No. Climb a tree, just in case something big is in that cave, I don’t want you to get hurt while I am busy fighting it off.” I explain.

Kuria: “You want me to climb up a tree? Me, a powerful Chaos Goddess!?” She yelled once more.

Celia: “You aren’t powerful at the moment, so climb the tree please, just in case. Besides, aren’t you the embodiment of chaos? Wouldn’t a Goddess climbing a tree, be something odd? It is right in your ballpark.” I say with a smug tone.

Kuria: “…”

With an annoyed expression, the cute Goddess climbed up a tree, with surprising ease. Hmm… who knew that a Chaos Goddess would be such a good climber? Not me, at least. With a cheerful mood, I walked over to the cave.

It was due to this cheerful mood, that I wasn’t on guard at all. Once I stepped in front of the cave, a huge bear, which was probably the size of a school bus, rushed out of the cave. The bear used one of its paws to swipe at me.

I was sent flying, and I hit the same tree that Kuria climbed up on. The impact was more than enough to make the tree fall. Aw… and she just climbed this tree…

Celia: “Kuria! Jump to a different tree!” I yell.

Kuria: “Of course!” She replied, before jumping to another tree.

With her safety verified, I now looked back at the bear thing. I took a few hundred HP from that hit… The bear thing seemed to be standing its ground, so I have more than enough time to peep at its Status.

:Summary:

A very large Ursa. At this time of year, they will be hibernating within caves, or other safe places. Even young Ursa’s are very aware of their surroundings, even when asleep.

Once woken up, they will defend their shelter to their dying breath. Avoidance of such creatures, is heavily advised.

I cannot truly avoid it, though… We need a place to sleep tonight. And the snow in this forest isn’t deep enough to make a makeshift shelter once again. With no other option, I got my sword out of my pouch, and got ready to fight.

The Ursa then ran towards me, with clear intent to kill me. He used his paw once more, but in addition, he added his claws to the mix. I was able to roll away from its strike, and then land my own slash onto its left arm. The Ursa let out a loud roar in pain.

Without mercy, I didn’t let it even have the time to be in pain, as I slashed it once more. As I got too cocky, the bear was able to land a slash of its own onto me. Having the flesh of your arm ripped up, isn’t even slightly fun at all. I feel that even a masochist would struggle to find pleasure in this pain…

The Ursa and I were both clearly going to stop the fight, so that we could lick our wounds. Taking a health potion out of my pouch, I popped the cork off, poured some of it onto my wounds, and then downed the rest of it. The pain was still there, but at least I wasn’t in the process of bleeding out anymore…

With our wounds mostly tended to, I was prepared to fight once more. As I readied my sword, I hear some sounds coming from the cave. The Ursa was no longer focusing on me, but instead on the cave. Inside the entrance of the said cave, were eight small cubs. They were clearly this huge bear’s offspring.

Killing a random bear is fine, but I can’t do it when it is a parent. If I do kill it, these young ones might just end up starving to death, or get hunted by creatures bigger than them. I am nowhere near that heartless…

With a sigh, I put my sword away. Rather than kill me for no reason, this Ursa was just protecting its young. But seriously girl, why would you have offspring in the winter? Talk about a bad call… Anyway, the momma Ursa didn’t seem to want to fight me any longer, and seemed to have calmed down as well.

As a gesture of apology, I walked over to it, and poured a health potion on the wounds that I gave it. Oddly, it licked my face, and then walked back over to the cave. The bear then entered the cave with its young. Well, shit… I guess that we need to find another place to sleep tonight.

Kuria: “So, what are we going to do now?” She asked with a sigh, after she climbed down from the tree.

Celia: “Just look around for another cave, or a safe place to sleep.” I reply.

Kuria: “Celia… I should tell you, I gained a lot of respect for you, since you choose to not orphan those younglings.” She said with a proud tone.

Celia: “I have gained a lot of respect for you as well.” I say with a smile.

Kuria: “Oh? How come?” She asked with a head tilt.

Celia: “The way that you climbed up that tree, was very impressive.” I say with a joking tone.

Kuria: “…”

With no other options, we were forced to walk around once again. We found one cave, which just so happened to be occupied. If so, we can probably find another place to sleep, right? That is, assuming that we do not freeze to death first…
