"I-is there anything else you would like to order, Sir?" The waiter asked as he wiped the sweat from his forehead, already writing on the third page but Wuxing was still ordering.

Wuxing smiled as he closed the menu and said, "Yes, I would also like water as well."

'Oof, finally a normal portio—' The waiter sighed in relief as he noted the last order but then his thoughts were disturbed when Wuxing added, "Two litres of water, please."

The waiter almost choked, no knowing someone would eat or drink so much at one sitting and said while stuttering for a moment, "Y-yes, Sir. I will tell the kitchen staff to prioritize the order."

As he walked away back to the kitchen, he thought scornfully, 'Tsk, another rich playboy… Ordering so many dishes only to take a bite from each of them… Let's see how you are going to eat it all.' He looked at the big tag on the reception counter saying, 'If you can't finish what you order, there will be a fine!' and couldn't help but smile evilly.

On the other hand, Wuxing wasn't bothered at all, already knowing that but he didn't plan to leave any dish untouched. He sat down near the window inside the restaurant and looked outside, observing a certain building with an inscription at the top of the entrance, saying, 'Central Bank'.

'If they don't come within an hour, I guess I was right.' Wuxing thought, already knowing what will probably happen. He moved to the restaurant exactly across the bank to observe first before crafting a plan for himself.

Imagining the scheme that could be going on in this city, he couldn't help but smile, very willing to uncover it for the public using his new nickname, Chameleon. He knew he had to act very soon as knowing the workaholic Katherine, she will definitely try to follow his footsteps on her own.

"Too bad… I will be first this time." Wuxing whispered to himself and began shaping his current plan.

...….

Back in the same alley that Wuxing killed the mobster, the police already came and seeing the body, they secured the whole place while calling back-up. They also found a poor girl, filled with tears who happened to be the victim in this case but also the suspect of murder.

They immediately took care of her and fortunately, she was okay. All she got were a few scratches from the fall on her knees but there could still be some mental problems after being threatened with a gun and a knife so they had to take her back to the hospital for some checks.

One of the policemen who arrived first to the scene coordinated the situation and gave the early testimony from the girl to the young Detective who just came to the scene, saying proudly, "Detective, I wrote down the testimony of the victim. She described the murderer perfectly so we should take her to the station and get his sketch."

The young Detective in his work clothes put on his latex gloves and walked towards the alley to see the scene for himself as he praised, "Good job. It seems like the work this time will be easy. With his profile, we should find him real quick."

"Well, I wouldn't say it will be easy… I think this is the work of a professional… The detective can look for himself." The policeman theorized as he pointed at the dead body.

Naturally, the Detective already saw that something was different in the crime scene. It looked like there were no signs of struggle or movements when the shot was taken. It was clean and perfect shot in the middle of the head which would confirm the lady's testimony.

Based on the notes he just skimmed through, the suspect was really a professional, knowing how to handle a gun but what troubled him was the motive. There was a window in the victim testimony that he quickly noticed.

Just then, one of the men from the forensic specialist team came up to them and handled a ten-dollar banknote as well as the wallet to him, saying, "Sir, we found it inside the pocket of the body. There was also a wallet on the ground which belongs to the mobster. We already checked him in our database and we confirmed he belongs to one of the gang groups in the city called 'Red Lizard Gang'."

"Alright, thanks. I will check it." The Detective nodded and opened the bag, taking the wallet out first and noticed no money inside of it, asking right away, "There wasn't any money inside?" He trusted his men but sometimes it was hard to watch over everyone.

The forensic specialist shook his head and explained, "There was none. Aside from the banknote that was left behind with a word, 'Chameleon' on it, there was none inside. We suspected that it was taken by the killer and we confirmed it with the victim."

"So based on what we gathered from the suspects on the bus stop and the victim, the mobster came, tried to flirt with her but she cursed at him, he got pissed and dragged her to this alley, wanting to take advantage of her but then the handsome guy from the same bus stop came after them. He happened to have a gun and protected the lady." The Detective narrated the sequence of the events as he looked at all the notes before asking his team, "Is that right?"

"Should be like that." The Policeman thought for a moment and nodded but then added, "Maybe the guy thought the mobster will attack and shot him by accident before running away? The lady is still in shock. Maybe she missed some facts."

"Exactly. If it was this simple as defending the lady, he would rather wait for the police to come and let them arrest him. Unless he didn't have the permit for the gun but then how would we explain his professional ethics. The lady confirmed it herself. There must be something in between that we are missing." The Detective thought out loud and after thinking about it for a moment, he finally got his theory ready.

Looking at the banknote he explained it to the others, "What I think happened is the murderer's target wasn't saving the lady from the very beginning. He wanted to kill the mobster after getting some information from him and this banknote is proof that the murderer wanted us to know it was his job. He signed it with his nickname, Chameleon. I think the lady knows everything they talked about but don't tell us because she is covering for the guy who saved her. He protected her from getting assaulted after all so we can't blame her for that. Let me talk to her, where is she?"

"Oooh…" The others who listened finally understood and nodded with their heads, confirming this was a valid theory before replying, "She is in the ambulance. Does Detective want me to call for her?"

"Nah, I will go to her. We don't want her to see the body once again. Clean up the scene, I will crack the lady." The Detective commanded as he packed the banknote and the Wallet back into the plastic package, giving it back to the forensic specialist before walking away towards the ambulance parked on the sidewalk.

"How is she?" The Detective called out to the female paramedic who was done with his tests. Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.

The paramedic place one last bandage around her neck and turned around, saying softly to the handsome Detective, "She is fine. I disinfected the scratch on the knee and her neck but there is nothing else for me to do."

The Detective smiled at her as he greeted her with a kiss on the cheek and praised while asking, "Good job. Can I talk to her for a moment?" The lady blushed but then smiled and nodded, leaving the two alone.

The lady in front of him didn't look scared or panicked anymore but still sat there quietly so he asked gently as he sat down next to her, "How are you, Miss? This must have been a stressful experience and I know it is hard to talk about it but I would like to ask you some questions. Can I?"

"You can call me Alice." The lady introduced herself as she asked, "You can but didn't I talk to the other police officer already?"

"Well, Miss Alice, I have some questions about your testimony. Is there anything you would like to add to it? I wish to know what did the two men talk about." The Detective asked while looking at Alice reaction and seeing the shiver, he knew he hit the nail right in the coffin.

He knew that she was hesitant to speak so he added, "I'm asking because we would like to find that person and thank him. The person that died was a criminal so he actually did us a favour. We can qualify that as justifiable homicide so the person won't get any sentence or anything even if found."

The moment Alice hear him, her eyes widened and she called out happily, "Really?"

The Detective nodded and explained, "Yeah. With you as the main eyewitness, we can say that you both acted in self-defence. We want to find him as he even left his name on the banknote so we thought he wants to meet with us."

He didn't need to wait for Alice's reaction as she grabbed his hand and asked excitedly, "Did he really write down his name?! Can I know it?"

The Detective was only waiting for this and said with a knowing smile, "Ah, you see, it's now classified information but if you told me what they talked about, I might bend the rules a little…"

Alice hesitated for a moment but knowing that Wuxing wanted the police to know and having his name offered to her, she couldn't help but agree, narrating the sequence of events, "Uhm… He was asking the gangster how he can meet their boss as he has something to talk about… The Mobster didn't want to tell because of me but the man in white proposed that they will take care of me afterwards and the mobster finally spilt the beans. Afterwards, it is like I said before. The mobster died and the man ran away, leaving me there."

The Detective's eyes brightened, knowing he got something interesting and asked curiously, "Can you tell me the address?"

Alice didn't mind that as they were the bad guys and nodded, replying, "Hmm… Sure. Their base is under—" Unfortunately, before she finished speaking, someone shouted loudly from not far away, "James! Come here!"

The Detective frowned when he heard his name and walked out of the ambulance as he said to Alice, "Wait a second…" To his surprise, it was his boss walking up to him and he called out right away confused, "Deputy-chief! Why are you here?"

A middle-aged deputy came up to him and dismissed his question before asking while looking at Alice, "It doesn't matter. I'm taking over this case. Did you get the murderer's face yet?"

"No Chief but—" James shook his head and wanted to explain the importance of Red Lizard Gang base but he was disturbed by his boss as the one said, "Then what are you doing? The case is so simple. We have the victim who saw the killer. Lady, can I ask you to come with us to the police station to get the sketch done? We will take you back home afterwards. It won't take more than an hour."

Alice was a bit overwhelmed by the quick change in the situation but seeing the serious look of the deputy, she nodded softly, "Alright…"

The Deputy-chief didn't expect any other answer and already turned around to the two policemen from the detective's team and commanded, "Great. You two, take her to the station and tell the sketcher to drop everything. This case has priority."

"Yes, chief!" They immediately agreed before escorting Alice away.

When it was just the two of them, Deputy patted the Detective on the shoulder and said with a smile, "James! Clean up the crime scene and return back to the station, I need to talk to you about something."

James couldn't say anything other than agreeing, forgetting about saying anything to the leaked address, "Yes Chief." For some reason, he thought there was a scheme going on.

...….

"I guess that will be all. To think I would still be hungry after all that. I guess I will have to order more next time." Wuxing said to himself out loud after eating the last dish on the table and drinking last glass of water. He thought that all the dishes he ordered were more than enough to fill his belly but that didn't happen. Fortunately, he could feel as if he was almost full which was enough for his mission.

Seeing that no police cars arrived near that bank after an hour, Wuxing smiled and finally decided to act, throwing all the money he had at the table, only leaving the words, "You can keep the change."

The waiters looked at each other, seeing more than twenty plates on Wuxing's table and couldn't help but cry out in their minds, 'Monster!'
