Marissa Lovane Shinthar, first princess of the Ordin Empire, had a very different idea of a fun night. She always found that the prim and proper way of doing things was boring. The training she received as a child was extremely strict and punishing but it didn't change her interests at all. In fact, her father would say, that it made her interests more intense than anything else.

Marissa quickly became the odd child among all of the Emperor's children. While she showed excellent results in her strict training and in the academy, she would only put forth all of her effort when she had something to gain. Essentially, she would only really show her true potential when she was bribed and never at any other time.

Her interests were all things in Nerdom that attracted her eye. As she grew older, her interests grew more risqué and provocative. It got so bad that the Emperor forbid her from showing her real face on the Spacenet or at any convention that she attended because of how intense she was.

Of course, that didn't do anything to stop her. Instead, it only fueled her creativity to make things that allowed her to continue.

As a result, she created her Spacenet alias, Marianne, and engaged in all sorts of obscene antics with said alias.

Once her father found out about how extreme she had gotten, he quickly assigned her younger brother, Serius Londane Shinthar, the third prince of the Ordin Empire, to keep an eye on her. After all, he was a very no nonsense person and wouldn't give in to her antics no matter what when they were younger.

Unfortunately, that was because Marissa didn't actually try to convince him.

It only took her two years for him to be completely corrupted by her influence…

That resulted in Marissa forming a group with her little brother, who had adopted the alias Sible. They became extremely well known and popular throughout the galaxy on the Spacenet. Serius would curb her most extreme tendencies still, but for the most part he actively joined in on the entertainment.

Of course, in public when she was needed to act like the first princess, Marissa had no problems and played her role perfectly. Because of this, her father didn't do anything to disrupt her entertainment even though he knew that she had ruined his third son.

Marissa would never have imagined that she would have ran right into someone who had escaped from one of the Empire's research institutes when she was dealing with a sponsored event. Of course, she didn't realize what the girl was until her younger brother pointed it out to her during their discussion. She had just thought that Altair was running away from some human traffickers or something.

As the light turned green on the camera and the live broadcast started, Marissa pushed it all to the side and threw herself fully into her online persona. It wasn't like Altair was going to be able to go anywhere for the time being and, due to her unique identity, LEO services and whichever lab was after Altair wouldn't be able to even touch a hair on Altair anyway. So, there would be no interruptions to deal with in any case.

As Marissa introduced herself, she did notice that Altair's ears were bright red. She couldn't stop the mischevious smile from appearing on her face as she practically shouted enthusiastically at the camera, "Heya everyone! We're back!"

Serius mirrored her enthusiasm has he also shouted alongside her with the same phrase. He then went silent as a content smile boarded his face.

Altair was sitting stiffly between them as her mind went blank. She only returned to the moment when Marissa wrapped her arm around her shoulder while saying, "This is the winner of our photo gala event we had outside the Portubius Arena in Gizmotech City!" She then looked at Altair and said, "This young girl is called Altair and, believe it or not, she doesn't even have a Spacenet account!"

Serius adopted an energetic look as he chimed in with a sideward glance at her, "Not only that, this is her first time cosplaying. As such, she has requested to keep her anonymity." He turned a serious look at the camera and puffed out his chest, "Obviously this means that the name is fake so don't bother trying to find out who she is."

Marissa turned her attention back to the camera and said, "If you have anything you want to say to the billions of people watching all over the galaxy, now is the time Altair!"

Altair's mind went blank immediately upon being put in the spotlight. Her shoulders trembled slightly under Marissa's grip and she was completely silent as she felt a wave of terror she didn't know she had. She couldn't stop herself from picturing an endless horde of people with passionate and interest filled gazes staring at her from a void.

Serius gave Marianna a snide look, "You're bullying her too much! This is her first time, why are you putting her on the spot." He shook his head in dismay as he quickly attempted to salvage the awkward air that descended on the broadcast, while also pointing out Altair's immaturity at the event.

"Boooo," Marissa pouted and crossed her arms under breasts while also giving them more of a spotlight. "I just wanted her to loosen up a bit. It's not that scary."

Serius gave out a dramatic sigh before he changed the subject, "Why don't you introduce the combatants already?"

Marissa quickly snapped out of her pouting face and adopted a bright expression as she immediately exclaimed, "Oh right!" She then pulled out some glasses from the side of the chair and put them on her face before she adopted a scholarly air and continued, "Today we have a special event at Gizmotech City! Two Ace level pilots are fighting for their chance to elevate their skills into the realm of Master pilots! Normally, this event isn't anything that special to write home about as this sort of thing occurs frequently in the military. However, the difference here is that these two combatants are actually civilians!"

Serius continued for her, "It is extremely rare for civilians to be able to advance even to Ace status, as you all know. In fact, there has only been eighteen confirmed cases where a civilian as reached that high. And now, we get to see the moment when one of them may be able to advance to the Master pilot level!"

Marissa looked at Serius before she airheadedly asked, "Did you know that these two pilots aren't even using the standard Mecha models? They're piloting completely unique frames that they designed themselves! It's that amazing!"

Serius turned a strange look on her as he answered, "Is that so? What size are they then? If it's a unique design I can't imagine it being much bigger than a small category."

A smug look crossed Marissa's face as she confidently answered, "They are both medium category Mecha. Furthermore, both of them have stated that once they reach Master pilot level they will immediately begin redesigning them for the large category as they will have the license for it."

A doubtful expression came to Serius's face as he asked, "Where are they getting the money for that? Large category Mecha are extremely expensive on their own. To have your own unique design for one is at least ten times the cost."

Marissa crossed her arms as she stood to her feet and proclaimed, "That is why we are here! All proceeds from today's broadcast shall go to the winner to help fund their dream!" She turned excitedly to Serius while crying out, "Isn't it romantic! To be able to have your own large category Mecha that you designed yourself made by the Empire!" She fell back into her seat with a dramatic flair before she adopted an infatuated smile on her face, "They're so lucky…"

"Well," Serius said as he looked at the Holodisplay that showed the two Mecha's moving off the video, "It looks like the battle is about to begin so we will cut to the direct feed in a moment. I wonder if either of them will be able to advance today."

The light on the camera changed from green back to yellow. It was at this point at Serius leaned in to Altair's side and whispered, "The broadcast has ended. They can't see you anymore."

This was a half truth. The yellow light actually indicated that they were still being broadcasted to the Spacenet, but it was just on a smaller video that was laid out alongside the main broadcast of the two Mecha's moving out to a field. However, he knew that Altair would remain stiff the entire time if he didn't lie to her. He thought his threat would help to alleviate the girl's tension but, apparently, it was no match for her anxiety.

He then straightened back up as he stood from the couch and said, "I'll go and get us some refreshments." He then proceeded to walk past the camera and covered up the light as he went by with a small piece of black tape. His movement went completely unnoticed to Altair who was slowly regaining a functioning brain.

Marissa put her arm around Altair and cheerfully asked, "Have you ever seen a Mecha competition?"

Altair shook her head as she breathed a silent sigh of relief. Her imagination had stopped haunting her when Serius told her that she wasn't being watched anymore. She then turned her attention to the Holodisplay.

On it were the two Mecha's that had arrived at some other location. Altair couldn't recognize the rolling hills and the odd, abrupt change to a desert that was right next to grasslands. Within the desert area were random dry cliffs that shouldn't have existed there. IT was very strange to see such a location.

Marissa didn't know what was going through her mind as she explained, "Well you're about to be in for a treat. You might just witness history in the making right before your eyes. No civilian has ever advanced to the Master pilot level before. After all, they would almost always get brought into the military through contracts before that. There are very few who would prefer to stay as a civilian and keep it as their hobby instead of their main job."
