Chapter 18

Back then, I devised a three-step plan to get into another world to find my Anna.

Step 1: Document the missing persons, protect that information from World Correction.

Every piece of data was crucial. I scoured information from city police databases, telecom and internet providers, real estate firms, and my extensive network of security cameras and drones. World Correction would inevitably erase this data in mere days. But thanks to my Divine Blessing, as long as I fed them to my memory beforehand, the information remained safe, shielded inside my mind from external corrections.

With that, I confirmed over a hundred cases, each of those cases, I gathered detailed data for the next step.

Step 2: Deploy Advanced Artificial Intelligence for Deep Pattern Analysis and Prediction

With the compiled data, the next challenge was deciphering the seemingly random occurrences of these summoning events. The patterns were not immediately apparent; the raw data was too vast and complex for human analysis.

This was where Artificial Intelligent (AI) came into play. I designed a unique AI algorithm, equipped to continuously process and update its predictions in real-time. This AI constantly analyzed thousands of variables: weather conditions, lunar phases, city events, electromagnetic disturbances, population density, and even fluctuations in the city's power grid. The aim was to recognize immediate correlations or sequences leading up to a summoning event.

At first, it was like searching for a needle at the bottom of the sea. But with time, the AI got better. Turns out, the city's power grid and the star's alignments were the best indicators. After a few years, it was able to narrow down its predictions, constantly updating its insights. There were five most common locations: Akihabara, Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, Tokyo Dome City Attractions, Asuka Senior High School, and Roppongi Hills. Besides that, the AI also provided real-time alerts, pinpointing the most likely spot for the next summoning based on the ever-evolving data. And with that, I was no longer merely hoping to be at the right place at the right time; I was being directed there. The success rate of predicting an event shot up to over 96 percent.

But, even then, there was still a colossal obstacle awaited.

And that was Step 3: Break the barrier to get into the magic circle

Basically, ‘hijacking’ my way to the other world.

This step was the hardest because I had absolutely no clue how. Every attempt to breach the barrier had been met with futility. From brute force to high-tech weaponry, from slashing it with a sword to blasting laser beams into it, I tried many different things, but they all failed. It felt as if the universe itself was mocking me, keeping me a hair's breadth away from my Anna. And as the days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, I thought I would be stuck at this step forever.

But then, one fateful day in Roppongi Hills, everything changed.

I was keeping watch over one of the predicted magic circles, my gun loaded and ready. As the clock ticked down, the expected shroud of a barrier appeared. I ran towards it, and this time, there was a figure trapped within.

It was a man, seemingly in his early thirties, trapped inside, panic evident in his eyes. Just like everyone else who got caught, he shouted, he screamed for help, but his voice couldn't penetrate the barrier. And every few moments, he would bash against the shimmering wall, trying to break free. Meanwhile, I was planning to shoot that barrier with my new shotgun.

However…

It was his final, desperate attempt that took me by surprise. He slammed his fist into the barrier one last time, and, to my shock and awe, it shattered like fragile glass! Yes, the same barrier that I was trying so hard to break for so many months, now shattered into pieces with just a single punch! The man stumbled out, gasping for breath.

So I rushed to his side, more interested in the phenomenon than his well being.

"How did you do that?" I demanded.

He looked at me, dazed. "Do what?" His voice was thick with confusion.

"Break that barrier!" I pressed.

My patience was threadbare. Realizing I needed immediate answers, I decided to make him an offer he couldn't decline.

“Two hundred million dollars! Give me everything you are wearing, right now!”

The guy was confused at first, but then quickly agreed to my trade. Any rational person would find such an amount irresistible. Without further hesitation, he handed over his belongings.

And then sifting through them, one item caught my attention.

A ring.

A silver ring!

And as it would turn out, silver was the sole material capable of shattering that maddening barrier...

Now.

The knowledge I gained in the past was immediately put to use. I released a silver bullet that seamlessly tore through Bromrik’s barrier, drilling into his skull. But an unsettling silence quickly takes over. Normally, a system notification would confirm my kill. But not this time. Nothing.

Then, out of nowhere...

Wolfkin? What is the system implying? Bromrik, with his unmistakable human features, is anything but a wolf.

"Master, get down NOW!"

Sophia's frantic scream reaches my ears, snapping me to attention. I duck and twist, narrowly avoiding a glinting blade that sought my neck. The moonlit sheen on the blade makes it clear.

Freaking moon elf!

Before I can even process this, another dagger slices through the air. Though I tried, I couldn't fully evade it, and it raked my arm, opening a deep, searing wound.

Backpedaling, I glance at the bleeding gash, feel the hot trickle of blood. In my mind, I’ve been certain. Certain that once the master fell, the slaves would be inert. But as I turn to Bromrik, my heart drops.

The wound I inflicted, the wound that should've ended him, is gone. He’s not down. Not even close!

Confusion swirls within me. How? Why? But there isn’t time to ponder.

“End him! NOW!" Bromrik's voice, laced with unbridled rage, reverberates. At his behest, a horde of slaves advances, an all-out-attack!

I need to act, and fast!

“Sapphire!”

Bluebery

I now adjusted release schedule to M-W-F, so 3 chapters/week.
