Haunted Duke’s Daughter C104

Broso has been watching over Lilia in an inconspicuous place all morning. He is always ready to move if something happens. Lilia tries to keep Broso out of her mind as much as possible. If she is aware of him, she will immediately notice him because of his conspicuous outfit.

The red-haired boy, Keith, was also a daily visitor. Lilia, however, had never talked to him directly. Tina always found him first and went to talk to him. He doesn’t seem to want her to talk to him, but she doesn’t know why. However, every time she comes back, she looks dejected, and I can’t help but be curious.

“What are you always talking about?”

When I asked her on the way back to the inn, Tina shook her head and said it was nothing, though her eyes were sadly downcast.

“If it’s nothing, why are you always so tearful?”

“What? No, I’m not.”

If it were possible, she would have waited for Tina to tell her herself, but Lilia had reached the end of her patience. Every time she sees Keith, Tina loses her energy. To be honest, it’s unpleasant to watch.

“She yells at you every time he sees you. Did Tina do something to him?”

“I didn’t do anything.”

“Then why?”

Tina became bitter and clammed up.

S–Lilia. You can’t force it.

L–…….That’s right.

Lilia nodded and said to Tina.

“I’m sorry, that was mean. I’ll hear the rest when you feel like saying it.”

When Tina heard this, she breathed a sigh of relief. For some reason, seeing that made me feel a little sad.

After leaving Tina at the entrance of the inn, Lilia returned to her room. There was a large bear sitting on the table. There was nothing she could do about it at the moment, so she had left it here. Lilia cradled the smaller stuffed bear that Tina had given her, and sat down on the chair to catch her breath.

S–Thanks for another fun day! Especially those dorayaki! They were delicious! Let’s go eat them again before we leave.

Sakura’s voice made me sigh and remind myself of the name of the store. There were three restaurants that Sakura wanted to go to again. For now, I can still remember them.

S–Lilia, by the way. Do you like it?

Normally, she wouldn’t know what Sakura meant by that, but Lilia immediately understood and frowned. She was probably referring to the stuffed animal that Lilia was holding. I don’t think I want to collect more, but it sure feels good to hold them.

L–A little bit, you know…….

S–Surprising…….I’ve always imagined you wearing a ring full of jewels and saying something like “ohohohoho”.

L–What kind of person am I in your mind?

S–Have you never done that before?

L–………….

Lilia prefers to collect jewels and other things, although she has put them away recently because Sakura has stopped her from doing so. That hasn’t changed.

L–It would be fine either way.

When Lilia said that in a huff, Sakura just laughed and said,

S–By the way, Lilia. Aren’t you forgetting something?

L–What? Oh, that’s right.

She is back in her room a little earlier than usual today. Lilia took the large stuffed bear to the corner of the room and cleaned the table top. Then she opened the door and stepped outside.

“Do you have a minute?”

When she called out to Broso, who was standing by the door, he shivered a little, as if surprised, and turned to Lilia. The helmet obscured his expression, but he must have been puzzled.

“Let’s have a little talk. Come.”

After saying that, I went back to my room. Broso came into the room immediately. He was looking around the room with trepidation and was acting suspiciously. Smiling at the situation, I tapped my finger on the table to get his attention. Pointing to the chair in front of me, I said,

“Sit there.”

Broso obeyed meekly and sat down in the chair Lilia had indicated. Lilia also sat down across the table from him. She stared at Broso and moved her head to look away.

L–Well, it’s easy to understand when you look at it like this.

S–Ahaha. That’s right.

At first, he seemed unapproachable because I couldn’t see his face and he didn’t speak, but when I confronted him like this, I realized that my impression was wrong. It seems that he is not a difficult person to get to know.

Lilia smiled faintly and said.

“Calm down. I’m not going to do anything to you.”

Broso turned his attention back to Lilia.

“I just called you here to thank you. I’m not asking you to show your face or speak. It’s just that…All you have to do is nod or shake your head when I ask you something.”

He seemed to be a little troubled, but eventually Broso nodded firmly.

“First of all, yes. Thanks for the escort. I’m sorry you have to be out and about every day. I’m sure you’re tired from having to be on your toes all the time.”

When he said that, Broso shook his head vigorously. Lilia laughed and continued.

“I’ll ask you to continue for a while longer.”

Broso nodded firmly, and Lilia nodded in satisfaction.

“Broso is from this town, right? Did you get to meet your family properly?”

He nodded again and the air seemed to have softened somewhat. Somehow, I think it was Broso smiling at me.

“Broso seems to be trusted by my brother, and I think your family must be very proud of you.”

This time, he didn’t show any reaction. When Lilia tilted her head, Broso shook his head slowly. She was a little surprised by that.

“Your family was against it, wasn’t it?”

When I asked him that, Broso nodded gravely. I know that everyone has their own values, but I can’t help but find it surprising.

“I’m sorry you had to hear that. You can go home now, Broso.”

Broso tilted his head, and Lilia said, holding back a little laugh.

“I’m not going out again today. Go see your family.”

Broso stiffened for a moment, and then quickly shook his head vigorously.

“I’ll try not to be too late in the future, and since you’re here, spend some quality time with your family.”

Broso bowed and quietly left the room.
