Chapter 4: (47) Moonlight

In the jet-black sky
Sprinkled with silver paint on it.
Autumn, the constellations are fluttering, and on the ground there is a rustling wind.

The high school uniforms have changed to winter clothes
And the students with stuffed collars are getting off the bus to the school, looking serious.

The heat of the daytime, like a formidable enemy
It disappeared as if it were a lie.
I’m sure I’ve lived the day to the fullest.
As I walked along the path with a light rhythm
The nostalgic smell of dinner
was leaking from the silhouettes of houses here and there.

There have been times when I’ve wanted to cry, but
Someone who let me live without dying
If you call it a god, then to you
This clear drawing of the starry sky
I clasp my hands together in the sweet longing to give my thanks.

I don’t mind being fooled for a little
It’s not like I’m trying to protect these lips.

I walked through a field of soot and came to a riverbank.

The quiet flow of the water
softly, softly, softly, softly
A faint whisper of silvery white.

The sound of soot swaying in the wind
Crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch
A faint whisper of gold.

They’re playing a duet.

The years that have been so even
Ordinary or unorthodox, praise or anguish
Joy, anguish, tears and laughter
I had thought that I had just slipped through the cracks as a human
But tonight I got an answer that it was not that way at all.

In the jet-black sky,
I draw a circle with white paint
The moonlight shines on the ground, a breeze rustles in the mist.

I tried the moonlight,
Come on, let it rain again tomorrow.
