Len, the maid, knocked excitedly at the door.

Len was Duke Lecardo ‘s maidservant before she became Yernia’s exclusive maid.

Yernia opened the door without taking off her necklace.

The designer carried her gown himself, worried that it might be destroyed.

“You’re so beautiful!”

Len closed her hanging mouth.

Yernia’s white dress fluttered every time she turned and she liked it.

Strangely, it didn’t go well with the necklace.

However, they still asked her to wear it so she did it out of sincerity.

The celebration hadn’t even started yet.

She was just trying the dress on before the party in case they found something to fix.

Impressed, Len twirled Yernia in her gown eagerly before she left.

“I’ll call the Marquis!”

A little later, Cassian knocked on the door.

What would Cassian say when he saw her?

She considered herself pretty the way she saw it now but she hated herself for looking forward to Cassian’s reaction.

She just wanted to look good next to him as his wife.

That was it.

Yernia opened the door.

“The dress is here—”

Yernia’s words got cut off when Cassian glowered at her as if he wanted her to shut up.

He kept staring at her in silence.

“Is it weird?”

He wasn’t laughing, so it was clear he wasn’t in the mood to tease.

He was solemn as he continued to examine her.

Yernia glanced at the half-shut door, feeling like she had to close it so she could get changed.

Before she could close it herself, Cassian suddenly pushed his palm against it.

Startled, Yernia’s hand reached for the knob.

“Pretty.”

“What?”

“You’re so pretty.”

Why did his words make her heart pound?

Yernia smiled.

“I know.”

Cassian looked at Yernia with a piercing gaze and she didn’t find it uncomfortable.

She scratched her cheek for no reason to cover the corner of her twitching lips.

“Why are you here?”

She asked even if she knew that he had come to see her.

His compliments made her feel good, but she would get embarrassed if he kept looking at her like that.

Why was Cassian standing before her when he could just go after seeing what she looked like?

Duke Lecardo wasn’t in the mansion at the moment.

He must be busy with his work.

“I came here just to see you.”

“You should go to work.”

“With you? I can’t seem to get my hands on things.”

Cassian strode inside and closed the door.

Yernia stepped back.

“I’m busy, Cassian. I have to hang portraits on the walls and get the flowers ready. I don’t have time to play with you.” Yernia said firmly.

She could guide him in the evening after the celebration was over.

No matter how tired she was today, she was determined to send Cassian back to his room after her guidance.

“I’ll hang out with you for a while.”

“Whatever. There are times when you don’t feel like working, too.”

Yernia added a reason for his actions.

She left Cassian and went to the dressing room.

She didn’t want to change her clothes while he was here—-not when his admiring glances were burned at the forefront of her mind.

Cassian’s intense scrutiny of her gown made her shy, so she thought it would be better just to change her clothes.

After changing, Yernia saw him seated in front of the desk.

“You haven’t seen the necklace.”

“Oh, I got it. Jennan gave it to me as a present.”

The letter was open in Cassian’s hand, and he dropped it to the ground.

The letter, which almost landed on the desk, fell to the floor by a hair’s breadth.

Yernia bent down to pick up the letter, but something caught her waist at that moment.

Her body floated, and soon, she was seated at the desk.

Cassian stared at Yernia’s round eyes while her upper body was bent.

“It doesn’t suit you.”

“You mean the necklace? Fair enough. What’s wrong with you, anyway? You surprised me.”

Cassian blocked her from trying to crawl underneath the desk.

Locking Yernia between his arms, he settled a hand behind her nape.

She stiffened.

Cassian unfastened its hook skillfully and fisted the necklace in his hand.

Then, she heard something break.

What did he just do?

“What are you doing, Cassian?”

“Oh, no. I made a mistake.”

“Mistake?”

It seemed intentional to call this a mistake.

“I can’t seem to control my power these days.”

When Cassian opened his fist, the necklace’s jewels broke into pieces.

A scar appeared in his hand as if the jagged crystals dug into his palm.

“It appears like I didn’t receive enough guidance from you.”

“…….”

“I’ll fix this necklace and give it to you. I’m sorry.”

Cassian put the broken necklace in his pocket.

Was it a mistake?

She frowned in confusion.

Why would he suddenly grab the necklace like that?

Still, Cassian wouldn’t hurt his hand if it wasn’t a mistake.

In a worst-case scenario, an Esper’s lack of guidance could turn him into a rogue.

It was dangerous for him to be out of control.

Cassian pulled another necklace out of his jacket.

This time, it was made of pearls.
