Chapter 442: Out of nowhere.

China Agriculture University was the best agriculture university in the country.

It also happened that the country was also an agriculture oriented country.

So the school played a very important role in the lives of people.

No matter how the ranking was selected, China Agriculture University definitely did not fall out of the top ten universities in the country.

However, they lacked a bit in terms of popularity.

The best students usually preferred to go to the big three or famous schools with long histories and easy jobs at the end such as Jiaotong University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China or the Normal Universities.

There was a time that the students that enrolled in the school were so scarce that they had to lower their admission score otherwise there weren’t many that were willing to come.

It was a bit better these last few years.

Rich people paid more attention to quality of life.

So they were more concerned with what they ate and drank.

Agriculture, especially ecological agriculture, became a priority.

Who knew how much food was branded as ‘ecology’ and ‘environment friendly’ and then the price was increased one fold, two fold or even higher.

It was shown on the internet that students from agriculture universities went back to their hometowns and became multimillionaires by farming and breeding cattle. It inspired many students from poor backgrounds to want to get rich through agriculture.

The top brass in China Agriculture University was very happy to see that and wouldn’t refute those rumors. On the contrary, they wanted more of those stories so they could get even better students.

So the admission office had become quite busy in recent years.

There were only a dozen people at the beginning to more than 50 people now and they were especially busy during May to August.

It was still alright now.

It was January and the Spring Festival was approaching so there weren’t many things for them to do.

Duan Kang was also thinking about where to go for his vacation after a year of hard work.

Duan Kang was 32 years old and was a doctoral student in China Agriculture University. Although he studied agronomy, he was competing for a job as a small employee in the admissions office.

That was enough for Duan Kang.

It was a formal teacher role and it got all the benefits from the school. Not mentioning the Huajing residence register, you could buy a house with the provident fund loan, also buy a car with good interest rate and more importantly, there was three months of vacation each year.

Duan Kang felt already content.

It wasn’t bad to be a small employee for life as at least the responsibility and pressure wasn’t that big.

Duan Kang’s job was very simple as after every important competition, he would send text messages or emails to the students with good prospects to the benefits of joining China Agriculture University and tempted them to call back so they could learn more.

So he must pay attention to the competitions.

For example, China’s domestic math, chemistry, English, young scientist project, essay competitions etc…

As long as they could enter the final stage of those competitions, Duan Kang would send it to them. After all, there was no idiots anymore at that level.

In the past few years, the number of students he had sent messages or emails to wasn’t few thousands but up to ten thousands.

But very few people responded to him, less than one-tenth.

In the end those that came to study in China Agriculture University were only a few of those one-tenth.

Since he started his job, the number of top prospects he had recruited didn’t add up to more than 100 people.

But the school was satisfied with those results and many of those students were used as bragging rights. Such as when the winner of xx competitions came to our school for duty. Their school was getting more and more renowned as well as getting more and more popular with the students…

Duan Kang blushed when he heard those.

He didn’t even recruit a champion, how embarrassing was that.

Obviously, it wasn’t China Agriculture University’s turn to get any champion.

Were the other big schools stupid?

Didn’t they also have someone dedicated to send messages just like Duan Kang!

Another example was the big three directly just called and asked if they wanted to enroll.

With them having such a stance, who knew when it was their turn to get the students.

Of course, those were just normal thoughts.

The current Duan Kang’s mind went to his vacation.

He wasn’t married yet or being bothered by a girlfriend. He just wanted to enjoy the single life for a few more years and not get married and have children so early, and be occupied by family matters.

*Ring*

His mobile phone rang.

Like many people, Duan Kang had many phones.

In fact, he had three.

Once was a work phone, which was known by his colleague at work and for people to contact for work related matters. One was a personal phone, which was known by his family, classmates and friends.

The third one was also for work but it was given to those promising students.

It was his third phone that rang.

Duan Kang quickly came back from his thoughts and saw it was a call from Lin’an.

“Hello, this is Duan Kang from the admission office of China Agriculture University.”

He politely presented himself first.

With so many years of experience, his attitude has always been good.

All the good prospects he recruited were due to how he acted so he mustn’t give those that hesitated a reason to back out due to negligence or bad attitude.

In fact, more than a dozen students decided to study in China Agriculture University due to Duan Kang’s persuasion.

“Hello Teacher Duan, this is Chen Huan from Virtuous Middle School in Lin’an. You sent a message after the IMO, right?”

A clear voice from a boy was heard over the phone.

Duan Kang instantly tapped the words ‘Lin’an’ and ‘IMO’ on his computer excel while saying, “Oh, it’s student Chen Huan, you… uh!?”

His polite reply suddenly stopped.

He couldn’t find the name correctly on the phone, such as Virtuous Middle School or Chen Huan since those names could have similar pronunciation but different words.

So Duan Kang went to search ‘Lin’an’ and ‘IMO’ to see the detailed information.

Only two people fitted that criteria.

One was Lei Xiaode from Second High in Lin’an.

The other was Chen Huan from Virtuous Middle School in Lin’an.

Both of them were outlined by a red front as the priority geniuses.

There was no need to guess that the person that called him was Chen Huan.

Duan Kang was shocked, how could a genius like that call him?

Then…

Then he recalled who Chen Huan really was!
