Chapter 476: Auspicious Opening.

9am New Year.

The Yongxing Supermarkets’ five stores’ gates were crowded with people.

For various reasons, Yongxing Supermarkets cancelled their morning grocery hours and decided to open at nine.

This could save a lot on costs and unify the services so it wouldn’t be fragmented.

Because it was the first day after the New Year and the day of the reopening, everyone was curious about Yongxing Supermarkets who made a lot of promotions recently.

As the largest supermarket brand in Zhejiang, everyone knew that Yongxing Supermarket closed its 32 stores in the other cities in the province.

Many elderly, even middle-age people, exclaimed with emotions.

In the past thirty years, Yongxing Supermarkets had accompanied them in their daily lives and were like a familiar partner.

It would make people uncomfortable if every store closed down.

Fortunately, the five stores in Lin’an were just being renovated and not closed down.

Yongxing Supermarket started to advertise as soon as in the twelfth lunar month.

It was on TV stations and flyers.

There were always a lot of discounts in an reopening.

For example, 50 cents an egg, fragrant rice for a pound of rice, 3 yuan for a pound of apple or 12 yuan for a pound of pork, which were all very interesting offers.

In the small farmers’ market outside and at the time of the Spring Festival, which of the above items mentioned wasn’t 30%, 50% or even two times pricier?

Not to mention there were also daily use products that were also very cheap in the supermarket.

Even if they didn’t buy any, couldn’t they just go and take a look, wouldn’t that be like a pastime?

With that mindset, there were at least five thousand people at the gate of each Yongxing Supermarkets.

It could only be said that there were a lot of Chinese people.

Of course Zhang Duocai and others considered the huge number of people.

They used those circular iron railing to separate the crowd while the people queued. It was in order to not have any trampling incidents as it would bring horror to the bliss.

Two story building with 12k square meters was enough to accommodate that number of people.

Then the supermarket opened at 9am and many people rushed, many of whom were elderly.

If the people from his previous saw the sight, they would joke they were all Super Huang Feihong.(Some Martial Artists and Folk Hero, you can google it for more info)

The elderly came with a goal and went straight to the area where the good they wanted was.

Before long, there was a long queue in the area where the eggs were sold.

The second most packet place was the fragrant rice, the third was the pork and the fourth was the milk where it was 7 yuan a liter.

There was no trick for Yongxing Supermarkets and it wouldn’t be only that cheap because they bought a lot.

Except it was ten eggs per box, they could have as many boxes as they wanted.

Whenever they bought a lot, any free employee nearby would help them move the items and check out.

There were also products that came in packages.

For example, the pack of mineral water was very cheap and it was 80 cents per bottle on average but they must buy a pack of 12 bottles and they didn’t sell by unit.

Cola was also very cheap as retail stores sold it for 2.5 yuan each bottle and it was 1.5 yuan here but they had to buy by pack of 12 and they also didn’t sell by unit.

But the people also couldn’t complain that the store cheated them as the advertisement also clearly stated that fact.

Everyone also found out that Yongxing Supermarkets were different from the usual supermarkets.

The other had rows of shelves with products presented dazzlingly.

Yongxing Supermarkets had their products stacked up on the ground or on huge carts, which looked quite spectacular.

The quantities of each goods were also larger.

For example, Lays’ potato chips in other stores would usually be 70 grams packages, 120 grams. Here, it was 185 grams, 225 grams and there were even bigger ones, it could probably fill them for a meal.

But there were many flavors that the other stores didn’t have, for example, the mustard honey flavor, salt baked cheese flavor etc… So people who liked potato chips couldn’t help but want to grab one with them.

It was worth noting that those packs were larger than the other shops but their price wasn’t much more expensive than those.

The price of the 225 gram pack was priced at 8 yuan while the 120 grams pack at Family-Mart and 7/11 were priced at 9.9 yuan!

The price was cheap, the tastes were unique and the portions were plenty. This was the general state of the goods in Yongxing Supermarkets.

A group of youngsters came to buy some snacks and only realized at the checkout that they spent two or three hundred yuans.

The youngsters weren’t the main clientele.

The main clientele were the middle aged and elderly.

The elderly were checking if there were any good deals in the vegetable and fruits section as it was the Chinese New Year’s after all and it wasn’t surprising for the price to double.

Yongxing Supermarkets didn’t increase the price and it was even cheaper than usual.

The important point was every vegetable or meat in the supermarket had a display screen that showed the source of the products, such as where it was produced and who processed it and so on.

These weren’t only on the display screen as the price tag also had that information.

It was very formal so they could know where the products came from when they bought it back home and they could trace the origin if anything was wrong.

It was the first time those elderly saw such meticulous preparation.

And they were also told when they bought those products to please come back and return the goods as soon as possible if there was any problem with it.

The supermarket took the initiative to mention so it made those customers feel more at ease as it was the first time they saw such a responsible attitude.

The place the middle aged people went was the clothes, hats and shoes sections.

Yongxing Supermarkets made the advertisements so they came to buy a batch of off-season clothes.

For example, the summer sandals would generally be sold for 100 yuan for the pair but it could be now bought for 50 yuan.

It was February now and they could wear it in three months so why not buy it now?

It was the same for clothes.

Summer T-shirt was 15 yuan a piece, 5 pairs of socks for 10 yuan and 30 yuan for a pair of pants…

Those weren’t some miscellaneous goods without brands but were all products from known manufacturers and logos on it so they were guaranteed quality products.

It was so cheap that people thought they could just pick it up.

They could buy a whole set of summer clothes and shoes for what they spent on a single cloth before, it was too worth it!

Then when they went to check out, they found out they bought three or five hundred yuan worth of goods.

Why was it the case?

Wasn’t it said the price was for a single purchase too?

However, would they wear the same set of clothes all the time?

They obviously had to buy one or two more sets to change to!

The colors were different so people didn’t say they were only the same clothes!

At 12, there were a total of 12 cash registers and each of them had a cashier at the front and back but the queue was still 30 meters long.

From 9:30 am since the opening of the shop, the number of staff had never been reduced.

There were always people checking out but there were even more people coming in.

It was a lot of work to register the items and cashing for the customers.

Most people would have been overwhelmed by the non-stop work.

But the cashier there never stopped smiling even if the shift was switched twice.

This gave a sense of novelty and satisfaction to the customers that were used to seeing rigid cashiers.

Moreover, the shopping bags were given free of cost and they would actively ask if one was enough and if the customer wanted one more, which gave satisfaction to those cheapskate customers.

An old woman even asked for ten bags so she could separate the products in each bag.

The young staff not only agreed to it with a smile but even asked a nearby staff to help the old woman separate her purchase in separate categories and helped her carry it out of the stores.

There were many examples of it.

This made many customers that bought a lot less distressed about their spending.

The employees of Yongxing Supermarkets were so caring, shopping there was like a treat!
