I was much calmer when I learned that many people were cooperating with me in the matter of my family’s home.

To be honest, it’s not surprising that the palace was a place where it’s not strange to hear people saying that they would place someone from a family that had caused or was likely to cause such trouble alongside royalty.

…Hmm? I rather wonder why there aren’t people like that here.

I’m sure there are one or two of them. Maybe they were talking behind my back and I just couldn’t hear them?

Well, I don’t mind, though, because Primera-sama said she’s willing to let me be the head maid for a long time!

I’m not quitting!

So, my morning as a head maid was early.

I woke up, got ready, and checked Primera-sama’s schedule for the day.

Then I also checked the breakfast menu and ingredients and then went to the cook in order to check the other ingredients and seasonings.

Of course, it’s not that I was doubting Primera-sama’s personal cook, but there have been actual cases of ingredients, seasonings, and even cutlery being poisoned in the past, so it’s only natural for the princess’s head maid to be careful.

Well, I think Primera-sama was in a relatively safe zone.

It’s not that girls don’t have the right of succession in this country too, but we had the firstborn son, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince. Moreover, since he’s been an excellent young man, it’s far from a battle for the succession to the throne.

Moreover, the siblings were very close, so there’s not much to say about it.

There was only the matter of who Primera-sama will be married to. However, that wasn’t a big issue.

Our nation is not a small country that has any feuds with other countries, nor is it so small that it has to seek the protection of other countries, but it is a moderate-sized country with fertile soil, a mild climate, and a strong cavalry force.

If someone was going to be the husband of a princess, for instance, a prince from another country, it’s preferable to be from an equal or superior nation. That is. But if that happened, it would create a strong link between the two superpowers, upsetting the military balance. This was a very concerning matter.

It’s also a well-known fact that if an ideal person would be chosen from within the country, a partner who can be the right hand of His Royal Highness the Dauphin– who will later become king, I think His Majesty was expecting Dean Dane to be that person.

I hope that Dean Dane will become a great knight, and eventually take on the position of a great general, supporting each other in the same way that His Majesty and His Royal Highness’s brother do now.

I digressed from my routine.

The next thing to do was to make preparations for today’s event, starting with the princess’s rising.

… I nodded to everyone to make sure that I had received responses to the three letters I had sent out.

I must ask the princess to forgive me for leaving my seat for a bit this evening.

Walking through the castle was always nerve-wracking, but today, I think it’s special.

In front of me was a massive door.

The apprentice knights in charge looked suspiciously at the fact that I was an official visitor, However, I properly identified myself and started my business, I could not help but inform the gentleman inside.

“The Prime Minister will see you now. Please come in.”

“Excuse me.”

As I was led inside, an elderly man bowed politely to me.

He was the person who was currently serving as the Prime Minister’s secretary, and he knew me, of course.

I also picked up my skirt, slightly bent my knees, and returned a ladylike bow. He smiled softly.

Meanwhile, a cold, almost chilling sound of voices came from behind them.

“You’re welcome. Bianca told me about you.”

“..Not from His Royal Highness the King’s brother?”

“Do you think you can give that man a decent explanation?”

“I don’t think she’s as incompetent as you make her out to be.”

“Well, I don’t care about that guy. I’ll tell you what you want to know now. Sit down…by any chance, can you give me the papers?”

People would call him Prime Minister, but he did not like to be called by his position.

He liked to be called Ernest Belle Elk, especially by those who wish to be close friends with him.

But if a stranger was to do so without permission, that person’s favorability would drop to the freezing point.

If it were a game, he’d be a troublesome type of guy to capture. But there’s another target in his household, who was an assassin.

I wonder what kind of life would it be like to have an assassin staying by my side, or if that’s what the duke’s family was like, but I decided it would not be good if I thought about it too deeply.

I’ve asked Grill-sama to prepare the necessary items in advance so that Primera-sama can enjoy them freshly.

“Hey, Grill.”

“Come here.”

This elderly man, Grill-sama, who was actually his secretary, was also one of the long-time stewards of the Duke of Trimmer’s family.

As for me, I’m grateful for the fact that I can learn from this very capable man’s manners just by watching him.

Amazing! He’s my senior!

I also asked for sugar, milk, and eggs. In other words, it was the ice cream that had been so well received by the Primera-sama.

It was finished with magic in front of my eyes, and when it was placed in a beautifully crafted bowl, Grill-san placed it in front of His Excellency the Prime Minister with elegant movements.

Hey, hey, the Prime Minister’s mask was coming off.

“Mmm … cold sweets, mmm! The sweetness of the– I’ve got a good amount of sweetness in my mouth. And you can enjoy it melting in your mouth…”

This wasn’t a gourmet show, so he didn’t have to evaluate it so carefully.

But I was relieved to hear that he liked it. He wasn’t so busy that he didn’t have time to do anything else, nor do I feel any friendship with him. There was none!

If there was, it’s because of my passion for dolce and his wife’s request.

I thought I was going to water down the man who was overjoyed from the first bite, but I and Mr. Grill looked at each other and nodded at the same time.

“Duke, if you don’t mind, could you give me some feedback on that cold pastry with another twist?”

“Mmm. This?”

“Yes, I have prepared a pot of strong tea for you to drink.”

“Tea.”

The Prime Minister’s eyes twinkled. Well, I guess it’s good to see.

I don’t know if it’s okay, I just felt like it seemed to be a feeding frenzy like this.

Of course, I would not voice out such thoughts, and I would never show it in my attitude.

Yes, yes, ahead maid was always calm and would do what the Lord wanted her to do, so I was sure Grill-san could see what he wanted now, but all I could do was chant the Heart Sutras in my mind.

Well, the tea affogato was much appreciated, and the ice cream was difficult to make because of the magic involved, but I promised to bring it to him at a tea party with his wife again, allowing me to do so.

I was told that it was the Talbot Company that had set my father up.

It seemed that the people behind it wanted Primera-sama to be married off to the Chargrin royal family and somehow revive their declining finances.

Well, that’s why they were getting ripped off all over the place, though. Where’s the trifecta?

As for the Talbot Chamber of Commerce, apart from receiving business rights in the Kingdom of Chargrin, they could not be charged with a crime since they were just doing money lending business in a gambling den.

Well, that’s true…..

But there’s no way to hide the fact that Viscount Van Diemen frequented the Grand Duchess’s place. It was suggested that we should make a plan because it is a fact that there is no such thing. By the way, I heard that I don’t have the right to veto it.

It was something of a reality that confronted me that made me want to peel my eyes away and scream out.

“At the Primera-sama’s birthday party later this month, Viscountess Yulia Vandeid, we’ll have you make your social debut.”

What a surprise!

I was going to have to make that social debut I have been avoiding for so long?

Primera-sama heard me speak as I returned with a deathly look on my face, and she gave me a smile that made the flowers bloom.

Apparently, she’s happy that my debut in the social world would give me the right to call her name openly.

Right, Primera-sama? That was only possible when I stood before Primera as the Viscountess, right?

I could not call her by her name when I was standing beside her as a head maid, could I?

I couldn’t say such a thing to the delighted Primera-sama… I could only quietly put a rug around the bed in case I fell off by mistake, thinking that later on since I would overthink things. Then I realized that I was only going to be lounging around on the bed.
