She thought they would guide her towards the administration building, she even suspected that they would guide her towards the student council...

They didn't.

"We will settle most of the remaining paperwork here." Said Agatha while motioning at her to take a seat at a big table.

Michael had sat himself already and was reading a book, the crazy old man grunted while he walked to a wall and just pretended to be the cool old guy.

Agatha was just smiling at her while getting some folders from...God knows where, did she have a [Inventory] skill too?

Actually, how did that work? She could still access her [Inventory] but most of the things seemed to come from her [Soulscape] instead of from a [Skill]...

She would ask someone later, "Let's take a seat Eli-Eli." Said Rossie from her side who pulled her towards a chair while sitting herself at her side, she was still hugging proctectively her arm while glaring daggers at Michael.

He still pretended to not notice her, but she could see sweat forming on his forehead...Like really... what kind of image did they have of Rossie?

"So...Any reason why we came here instead of an administration building?" Elizabeth said while taking her place in front of Agatha.

This left them with Agatha facing Elizabeth while Michael faced Rossie...

"Yes, a few reasons." Said Agatha while pushing a folder her way, "First of all, Miss Singh wouldn't be permitted (Normally) to accompany you in the process if we did it in the administration building."

"Not that they would be able to stop me," Rossie said glaring daggers at Agatha.

"Indeed," Michael said too.

What? Why wouldn't they let Rossie in? She was harmless!!!

...Mostly° harmless...

Probably...

They wouldn't be able to convict her of anything!

"And secondly, this way we can prevent most of the gossip from the geezers at the [Council], since [Odyssey] ascended they have been trying to make an apostle for themselves. Mostly by going after [Talented] magic users, trust me, you don't want that." Agatha said while grimacing.

Oh right, she had asked her if she was one of those..."Yeah no, not planning to have [M...]...Not planning to have a [god] looking over my shoulder 24/7." Elizabeth said, she almost said [Mother] aloud.

That would be hard to explain, especially as she didn't have an excuse to use it that way, she could assume some people would refer to her [Mother] as such by implying she was the [Mother of Magic] or something like that.

But she just didn't have the background for that, she didn't have the records to justify that kind of piety after all.

"I can imagine, it's okay. [Gods] have different metrics than us, she won't peek too much into your life unless you are interesting to her." Agatha said in an offhand manner.

Somehow she didn't believe her, "I have been trying to get that [Title] but my [Magic] doesn't seem interesting enough for [Odyssey]." Michael said from his side, "And while yours seem interesting you should be okay for now, maybe after you make it to A-Tier like Miss Agatha."

So Agatha was an A-Tier?

She couldn't remember what level she was before, maybe around the fifties?

She remembered that her [Appraisal] had only returned [Magical Girl] before, so perhaps she got a good [Job] and managed to keep her level?

"Not important right now, for now, please fill these out," Agatha said opening the folder she had put in front of Elizabeth before.

It was... A form.

A normal registration form, "Name...Residence...Guardians...Age...Job...?" Elizabeth went over the spots she would need to fill while willing a pen to rise from the shadow she was projecting on the table.

So she didn't notice Rossie glaring at Agatha, "What do I put on legal guardians? Since it seems I don't have parents anymore." Elizabeth asked.

"...You don't have parents anymore? Our records state that you never had ones though?" Agatha answered back.

"Oh that's right, Rossie told me about that...So what do I put?" Elizabeth said not acknowledging Agatha's comment and also not elaborating more on that.

"Leave it open." "Put my name." "Put your name." Three different answers from three different people.

Of course, only one glared at the other two.

"Rossie I love you, but why would I put you as my Legal Guardian? We are the same age...I think." Elizabeth asked Rossie while smiling at that.

It was kinda cute to know that Rossie wanted to take the step forward and make her stay more comfortable, but she wouldn't burden her with that. Besides the legal guardian position would only give one advantage to Rossie in this case, which would be to grant her permissions in legal documents.

Like marrying before being a legal adult.

....Oh...

"...Rossie....?" Elizabeth said while turning to look at the pink-haired girl who was hiding her face in her arm.

"...Pretty please?" Said the pink-haired girl still hiding herself.

"No." Cut the mood Agatha in one swift motion, "At best we could put Mister and Missus Singh as legal guardians, making you two sisters."

"NO!" "NO!"

Both Elizabeth and Rossie said at once, astounding Agatha and Michael.

"I mean, no. I wouldn't want to impose Rossie's Parents with that, besides Mama & Papa probably would rather I strike on my own." Elizabeth said with a smile, she knew her [Mother] had lived alone a few years before going to the other world where she got her [Magic].

And that her [Father] while he hadn't lived away from his family, he had worked the field from a young, so she was sure that her parents wouldn't mind if she went without a legal guardian for a year and a couple of months.

And if they wanted her to get one they very well could send an [Oracle] or something...

No?

Nothing?

"See, so might as well leave it as is." Said Elizabeth when no [Divine Oracle] descended.

"Not sure how you got to that point but fine, the MPI will take care of your legal needs while you are a student." Said Agatha while snapping her fingers.

Her pen flew out of her hands and wrote [Agatha Moonstone] on the legal guardian spot before returning to her hands... Wasn't the MPI going to be her legal guardian?

Why did Agatha write her name then?

"You can call me [Mama] if you want, [Odyssey] has been nagging me to take care of you. So might as well make it official." Said Agatha quite carefree.

She...

What?

Rossie didn't seem to know how to react as she had moved from a glare to a dumbfounded expression. Michael pretended to not care, but he had put down the book he had before and grabbed another...And started pretending to read, she knew he was pretending as the book was upside down.

"...I will refrain from doing so. But thank you nonetheless, Miss Agatha." Elizabeth said recovering from the shock.

Agatha seemed to arch an eyebrow while looking to the side as she started to swap away notifications, so she took that moment to grab her pen and start writing on the forms.

Name? Elizabeth Starbright.

Age? She was... sixteen?

She checked on her phone for the date and did some math in her head, her status stated that she was 16.9 years old.

And indeed she was three months away from her birthday...

She had missed her sixteen birthday...

"Eli-Eli?" Rossie seemed to sense her change of mood as the girl prodded at her.

"Oh nothing, just thinking that my birthday is close," Elizabeth said while writing both her age and date of birth.

"That's...not your birthday..." Said Rossie as she seemed to search for something in her pouch, after messing around while trying to not let go of her arm she finally managed to pull a paper.

"Here." Said the pink-haired girl while passing her a "Birth Certificate?" Mumbled Elizabeth while taking it.

It was her birth certificate, it was a few weeks off, "The [Status] screen is online with this date, not with this one." Said Elizabeth while pointing at the date she had written.

"Oh...Curious, we will need to fix that one then." Said Agatha while taking the birth certificate and taking a picture of the date she had written on the forms, "Are you sure about it? I don't doubt the [System] but if we change it now, it will be a hassle to change it later if you try to use the old one."

"Yeah go for it, I didn't even know they were using that one." Said Elizabeth, she had used the correct one all her life after all. Why had they put another one though?

And why was it a couple of weeks off?

It seemed intentional as if that date was important. So she filed it on her [Memory Palace], she would check what had happened on that date later, maybe it was important and someone had left it for her to notice.

For now, she had more paperwork to file...

Residence? She wrote the apartment address where she had been living with Rossie.

The pink-haired girl at her side smiled at that, not like she could write her former address at [Avalon], so why was she getting all happy about it? Cheeky thing.

Job? That one was tricky..." Do I need to write my [Job] or what I [Want] to do ?" So she would ask.

"You can write your actual [Job], you can also write what you aspire to become. We do check your actual [Job] to be sure we are giving you the best possible education. So we would appreciate honesty, and the information is safe under the guarantee of [The Tinker]." Agatha answered.

So she didn't need to answer it...But they would find out anyway.

If [The Tinkerer] was the one to check she understood why they were sure about it, she doubted that one of the [Twelve]...Or are they [Nine] nowadays?

She doubted she would be able to escape their notice if they focused on her, so better be honest... And so she wrote [Magical Hero] on it.

What she found interesting was that the shadows seemed to move as she was writing it, somehow the letters became...Obscured, as if shadows danced around it.

"Ohoh...[Magical Resonance]? That is one [Rare]." Agatha said while examining what she wrote.

"[Rare]?" Asked Michael from his side, he was squinting at her paper as if he wasn't able to read it.

"[Magical...]Something?" He said, so he had been able to read half of it?

"Eli-Eli is special like that," Rossie said on her side pushing out her lovely chest as a proud wif...As a proud friend! Yes, damned cheeky thing worming out the ideas she had in her heart.

"Yes yes, Miss Starbright. A [Rare] job is one that has an effect on the world. Mister Shepherd for example has a [Rare] job. That he is only able to read half of it is proof of it..." Agatha said while reading it, she got the impression that the woman was struggling but could read it... "We aren't sure about if there are or not degrees of [Rarity], but at the very least this one proves that your [Job] is [Higher]tier than Mister Shepherd."

Interesting...Not that it mattered to her as she only got some skills from it anyway, her status points were set in stone, and unless she found a job that granted her more points she wouldn't get much benefit from it.

"Should I tell you what it says?" Asked Elizabeth while looking at what she had written.

"No." "If you wish."

Again two voices at once, had this become a thing?

"As Miss Singh said, it isn't required, we only need you to leave a track of sharing the information. If the [Geezers] can't read it then that is on them. Never ever state it using verbal components. Write it or ask them why they can't read it." Agatha said with a smile on her face.

"Yes, a [Job] can be used to infer how many status points total you have Eli-Eli, we need to safeguard that information," Rossie said on her side.

Rossie...She would tell Rossie later what it was, she deserved at least that much. And much more if she was able to give.

"Now Mister Shepherd, I will not ask you to share your [Job] with Miss Starbright, since that is private, but be aware that you got information that is privileged," Agatha said on her side.

"Can you get Miss Singh to look elsewhere?" Asked Michael while sighing and grabbing a piece of paper.

"I do not care, at all whatever your [Job] is." Said Rossie while hugging her arm more strongly.

"...Please still look away," Agatha said on the side.

"...Fine...Eli-Eli if he writes anything that isn't his [Job] like a series of ten numbers please don't read them and tell me immediately. The same applies to any string of letters that have an @ on it." Rossie said while placing her face against her chest as if to emphasize that she wasn't seeing the piece of paper.

"...That should be good enough," Agatha said eyeing weirdly at Rossie.

What?

She wasn't seeing like this. What else do they want from her Rossie?

Also, she wasn't enjoying the feeling of Rossie's breath on her chest, no sir. Dunno what you speak about.

"...Here." Michael seemed unsure about how to react so he just wrote a single string.

She could feel magic within those words, almost as if the letters held runes within them [Sage Apprentice] it was...Simpler than she expected.

"Oh...That seems more normal than I thought." Said Elizabeth without thinking.

Michael seemed to take that as a cue and crumpled the piece of paper and threw it upwards, the piece of paper caught on fire and turned into ash in mere seconds.

"...That should be enough Miss Singh, you can stop," Agatha said towards Rossie.

The pink-haired girl didn't dwell more on her chest (Sadly) and unburied herself from within, "Hmph." She however humphed towards Michael as if she had achieved a victory over him.

Which was weird, since the true winner of this series of events had been Elizabeth, not that she would complain about it "So with that out of the way..." Elizabeth said grabbing once more her pen and moving to the next part.

Skills? It asked for her skills?

"Do I write my [Skills]?" She asked unsure what to put.

Somehow she doubted they wanted to know the level of her [Young Body] skill, or her [Beautiful] skill.

"Oh that one, yeah just put the skill you have more confidence in. Most mages go for the flavor of [Bolt] they use. Mister Shepherd here put his [Aegis] shield variant, just go with feeling." Said Agatha using Michael as an example. "Miss Singh has [Heal] on it, so you can put a normal skill if you wish too."

And finishing her example using [Rossie], so Rossie used her [Heal] as an example huh...As expected from a [Healer].

So what to put...Oh, Elizabeth knew exactly what to place "[Mana Manipulation]?" Asked Agatha with question marks on her head.

"Yes, that is the skill I have more confidence in." Said Elizabeth with a smirk on her face.

She just hoped someone argued with her about it, that was the foundation of everything she could do. "It's the most versatile [Skill], no matter what you do, you need to use [Mana] and [Manipulate] it. So yes, [Mana Manipulation]."

"I mean...She is right...But most offensive [Spells] have mana manipulation imbued in their formulae...And most [Skills] manipulate the mana on their own. So no one has that skill." Michael said on the other side.

"I have it." Said her always loyal Rossie from the side.

"Same, [Odyssey] pestered me for almost a month when I ditched it," Agatha said thinking about it.

"Is it important? If [The Mother of Magic] wants you to have it...Should I pick it up?" Michael wondered, he didn't seem to want to grab the skill.

"You are fine like that...Michel." Rossie seemed to not like Michael.

"But then again..." And Michael seemed to not want to interact with her Rossie for some reason.

Should she mediate between them?

She...Wasn't feeling that weird connection she got with Rena, nor could feel any weird tentacles coming from Michael toward her or Rossie...But when she dived trying to find the same mental model she had with Rena she found the presence of Michael.

He had this presence similar to a [Grimoire], but no longing came from him, just a serene feeling of wanting to read and study. So she left it alone and returned to the real world.

"The [Skill] works quite well for me, and while it's true I can do anything the [Skill] does, it does serve me quite well as a helper." Elizabeth decided to be honest with him for now.

"...You what?" Agatha asked on the other side while looking at her.

"...What level is your [Mana Manipulation] skill Eli-Eli?" Rossie prodded at her.

"It became level 7 after the fight with Michael." So she answered truthfully, if Michael or Agatha had asked she would probably ignore them.

"...And you got the skill at level...?" Agatha asked this time, well, it didn't hurt to answer at this point, did it? "I think it was at level either 5? It wasn't lower than 3 that's for sure."

"Okay... Yeah, I will make sure you are my student." Agatha suddenly said.

"...Eli-Eli should be able to choose her teacher," Rossie grumbled under her breath.

"Do you think she will get a better teacher than me? Really?" Asked Agatha while looking at Rossie.

"...But she still should get to choose, not that it will change anything no matter what teacher she gets." Her pink-haired lovely and adorable Rossie answered back at Agatha. "She IS a genius after all."

"I can see that, but if she comes to me, I can make sure she gets all the books without the hassle." Agatha countered.

"Books?" Asked Elizabeth, why would she need books?

"Well yes, to get the spell formulae, like for the [Barrage] and the [Teleport] thing you did...Where did you get the formulae for those anyway?" Michael asked.

"I...made the formulas while preparing to sleep after the day of the test got decided...?" Elizabeth said, she didn't make them while preparing to sleep of course. But made the spells while sleeping, she had used the time to sleep efficiently by diving into her [Soulscape] and rebuilding her previous spell nodes.

But she couldn't say them that, or they would ask her how she was able to dive into her [Soulscape] when it seemed no one could do.

"She..." That however didn't seem to be the right answer as Michael stumbled saying that.

"...Made them...?" And Agatha finished that phrase while looking at Rossie as if to ask her something.

"Yes, she made them. Eli-Eli is a [Genius] like that." And Rossie said while puffing out her chest again.

Hmm...Should she try and sink her face there? Rossie had done so already that to her, so it would be fair. Right?
