At my question, the three men nodded and packed their stuff.

Unlike when I entered the side hallway leading to the bunker, I am not too afraid this time because Enoch, Kayden, Ruzef, and Eunji are with me. With them, nothing in the world to be afraid of.

“Can’t you break through the cave and open a way with magic?” I asked Kayden.

He shrugged in regret. “Magic is not omnipotent. As you can see from the use of the magic tool a while ago, the cave could collapse completely.”

In other words, there is really no way.

Moreover, the cave collapsed moments ago, causing the bonfire to be nearly extinguished.

‘I really need a flashlight this time.’

I checked the telescope and flashlight that I had put away earlier. The word Alea was engraved on the side of it. That means this has been modified.

However, no matter how hard I pressed the on button, it didn’t work. But I still take it with me just in case.

At that time, suddenly a green light flashed from inside.

I raised my head in surprise. Likewise, the three men also looked that way. The light coming from far away got closer and closer.

There are dozens of lights, not just one. Fireflies are flying in the cave, shining.

“Wow…… so beautiful.” I looked at them unconsciously, fascinated.

“Where do they come from?”

“Should I grab all of them and use them as a lantern?”

Unlike me, who was purely admiring, Enoch and Kayden were talking with dry emotions.

But then, the fireflies gathered together and suddenly rushed toward me.

“Ouch! Don’t come!”

Fireflies are beautiful, but I hate bugs! I immediately started running away from them.

“Margaret!”

I heard the three men calling for me, but I couldn’t stop running and soon reached the cave entrance again.

I ducked down and rolled on the floor to avoid the fireflies rushing at me. The flashlight I was holding suddenly fell to the floor.

Enoch who ran after me immediately pulled my arm and hugged me, then stepped back. Subsequently, Kayden and Ruzef stood in front and protected me from the fireflies.

Luckily, the fireflies stopped rushing at me and are flying in circles at the entrance of the cave. To be precise, they are flying over the flashlight I dropped.

“What are they doing?” Kayden muttered with a puzzled face.

They were flying in circles for a long time, emitting green light, as if they were contemplating something.

-hiss.

I heard Eunji hiss calling me from under my feet. When I lowered my head, the kid tilted his head.

He looked at me once, then at the bugs, and then flicked his tongue. As if he wanted to eat all those flying bugs.

Only then did I remember that Eunji could eat monsters. Suddenly my confidence soared. All right. As long as I have Eunji, I have nothing to fear!

I said to Eunji with a more relaxed face. “Would you like to wait a moment? Let’s see what they are doing.”

Eunji calmly turned again to the fireflies as if he understood what I was saying.

-buzz.

They made flapping sounds and flew over the flashlight as if they were having a discussion.

‘Why are they flying over the flashlight…?’

In the moment of doubt, they suddenly rushed at the flashlight as if they had finished the discussion.

“What…?” Kayden muttered confusedly.

I watched them get sucked into the flashlight.

What is going on?

I was so shocked that I was at a loss for words. Eventually, as they were all sucked into the flashlight, the surroundings became quiet.

-flash.

Then a light came out from the flashlight. Inside the convex condensing lens of the flashlight, I could see small condensed fireflies flying around. That seemed to be the light they were giving off.

“Wait here.”

Enoch patted my shoulder once and moved forward. He picked up the flashlight that had fallen on the floor and looked at it, then walked back to me.

“This writing seems to be the ‘Alea’ you talked about,” Enoch said, pointing to the writing on the side of the flashlight.

“Oh… yes. It was given to me by Jenas.”

Jenas gave me this flashlight and said something.

“This is a gift.”

“You said you won’t go with me. But why are you taking such good care of me?”

“I hope you survive, Meg.”

“Why?”

“Too bad everyone died so easily.”

He must have definitely said that.

Did he know that this situation would come?

“It’s fishy that Jenas gave you this,” Kayden muttered, looking at the flashlight with a puzzled face.

Eunji slithered up my leg, wrapped around my forearm, then snooped in front of the flashlight with a curious face.

Then, the fireflies in the condensing lens saw Eunji and made a fuss. They seem scared.

“Eunji, step back a bit.”

Eunji looked back at me with a dissatisfied face.

I added, “They are scared.”

Eunji glanced into the condensing lens once and then at me.

This might sound like I’m warning my immature kid, but I’m really worried about these fireflies. I gave Eunji one more warning, and he reluctantly slithered down to the floor.

“It’s like a mother and her kid,” muttered Ruzef who had only been watching.

I smiled faintly while shaking my head when I saw Eunji pouting and not even wanting to look at me.

“I don’t think we need a lantern anymore,” said Enoch, looking down at the flashlight and rubbing his chin.

I pressed the on/off button on the flashlight. But it doesn’t look like it can be operated with a button.

Is this flashlight like a lantern with fireflies light that doesn’t need batteries or anything like that? That’s good.

“Let’s get moving first,” said Enoch.

We walked into the cave again with the firefly flashlight.

However, the cave is bigger and deeper than expected. In addition, we got into trouble because the path forked.

“A crossroads?”

“Eunji knows this kind of stuff, right?”

Kayden seems to have remembered the first time he met Eunji and he showed us the way.

I looked at Eunji who was following me. Then Eunji who met my eyes snorted and looked away. What? Is he in puberty?

Confused, I looked at Kayden. He, too, had a puzzled face.

“He must be sulking,” Enoch murmured in a funny way.

Then the light from the flashlight went out. In an instant, everything went dark.

“Huh? What’s wrong?” I tapped the flashlight.

Ruzef asked, “Could it be that the fireflies are dead inside?”

“I don’t know.”

I waved the flashlight in response to Ruzef’s question, and suddenly the flashlight came back on.

“Huh? It’s working.”

But it wasn’t long before the light went out again. I don’t know why, and as I continued fiddling with the flashlight, a sudden thought occurred to me.

I pointed the flashlight at one of the forks in the path. When I pointed it to the right path, the light turned on, and when I pointed it to the left path, the light went out.

“This flashlight seems to show you the way,” said Kayden.

I looked at the flashlight as I listened to him. I could see fireflies leisurely flying around in the lens.

“I guess so. So we go to the right?”

Is it true that Jenas gave me this flashlight to help me?

“It could be a trap.”

Enoch looked at the flashlight with a worried face. I looked at Eunji again who was glancing at the flashlight with a curious face, but when our eyes met, he looked away again.

I squatted down in front of Eunji. “Eunji, I am sorry.”

Eunji flinched at my apology. He gave me a side glance and looked away again.

“I was wrong. I was just worried about Eunji.”

Hearing my words, Eunji slowly looked at me. Then he tilted his head as if to ask, ‘Really?’ He was so cute that I covered my mouth to keep from laughing and nodded vigorously.

“I love Eunji so much. You know that too, right?”

Then Eunji jumped up with a completely excited face. He slithered around me and quickly slithered to the fork in the path.

He stood still in front of the path to the right where the fireflies had pointed and then turned to me, flicking his tongue.

How cute.

I got up smiling with the flashlight in my hand. Then I met the eyes of three men who were looking at me with somewhat subtle faces.

“I never thought I would be jealous of a snake,” muttered Kayden while scratching his head.

Enoch and Ruzef remained silent.

I was a little shy remembering the conversation I just had with Eunji, so I didn’t respond to Kayden’s words.

So we went deeper into the cave.

At that time, no one knew that this was a path directly connected to the mother of monsters.
