Xiahou Shangyue looked at the figure of the Crown Prince. Tied tightly to the chair with thorny vines, his body was dotted with bleeding wounds. His eyes were bloody and his skin was pale.

The Crown Prince glared at her but his voice was gone. He could only groan out some unintelligible noises. Shu Yidan had cursed him silent sometime after he had pushed her down.

Her destined love didn't enjoy the screams of the man he was green-hatting. What a pity…

This mighty man was beaten into a dog by her destined love. And now, with the talisman tightly held in her fingers, he would become a literal dog that would be loyal to her!

"How the mighty have fallen… You, the mighty Crown Prince born from the Queen Dowager and me, the lowly princess descended from a palace maidservant who the King fancied. My mother died as a child, so the King was obliged to take care of me… but it was impossible for me to rise in this Imperial Family. If you had ignored me, you would still be high and mighty. But a single mistake can lead to everlasting regret.…" Saying this, Xiahou Shangyue shook her head.

She was still weak in personal strength and authority - her only advantage was the backing of her 'destined lover' Shu Yidan. But this advantage was enough to crush the Crown Prince in one blow!

As long as she was able to enslave the Crown Prince, she would gain enough authority to rise beyond her miserable past! She could gain enough strength to battle for the throne!

A flick of a finger and a drop of blood covered the talisman held in her hands. Carefully she struck the talisman upon the Crown Prince's forehead. The man glared at her with crimson eyes, but Xiahou Shangyue didn't turn her eyes away, instead glaring right back.

After all this was the last time she would be the focus of such intimidating intent from this man. His fate as a man was soon to come to an end, and his destiny would now be of a dog under her foot!

His red eyes glared at her but the force of the glare began receding… until his eyes turned blank white. The Crown Prince was put into a state between life and death.

Shu Yidan flicked a finger at her, and a paper flew into Xiahou Shangyue's hands. "Start chanting this."

Xiahou Shangyue looked over the paper for a moment. She knew that fudging the chant would naturally lead to problems, yet after a few glances she casually tore that paper apart.

Without referring to the paper, the chant began, "Heaven and Earth, Vast Without End. Six Samsaras, Where Spirits Rest…"

A seven-stanza long chant resounded, with steady tone and perfect vocalization. The talisman planted on the Crown Prince's head shined like a star before crumbling apart.

"Done. Crown Prince will be more obedient towards you, and you can force him to obey your commands by using some techniques… You cultivate the martial path so I'll give you True Qi-based spells. Look at this, here…" Shu Yidan flicked his hands forming complicated seals.

"You get that? If you use the seals along with True Qi, you can control the Crown Prince like a puppet." Xiahou Shangyue nodded at that.

"I never thought that True Qi could have such an exquisite use… After all, it is only vulgar in comparison to the path of Immortal Cultivation." Xiahou Shangyue looked enviously at Shu Yidan saying this.

"True Qi is quite limited in scope… mostly because the Martial Cultivation Path was cut off. In the past era before Heaven's End, the cultivation civilization primarily trained in the Martial Dao – even this world was named Divine Might." Shu Yidan said with a sigh.

"…Heaven's End, huh?" Xiahou Shangyue sighed as if she knew what that meant. "And what is the current name of this world, then?"

"Naturally, this world is named Heaven's End Remnant." Shu Yidan said with a smile. "It has been 20,000 years since the Divine Might World fell and the World Will scattered."

"…20,000 years since the end of the disaster that sent the Divine Might cultivation civilization into extinction – the attack of the Totem World. At that time, the Eternal Venerable Mother descended with a white lotus at every step to bring salvation to the world - mending the heavens and sealing off gods. There are no gods in the world, only the White Lotus is worthy of faith." Saying these words, Xiahou Shangyue sighed.

"…Where did you learn this?" Shu Yidan glanced at Xiahou Shangyue as if revaluating all he knew about her.

"From a book." Unwilling to expose the source of her knowledge, Xiahou Shangyue kept mum.

"All right then, keep your secrets. Anyway, what do you know about cultivation?" Shu Yidan asked her.

"Immortal Cultivation is the only one that matters, and my royal bloodline makes cultivating that impossible." Xiahou Shangyue immediately replied.

"Do you know the reason why? I'll explain anyway: the reason is karma – too much karma makes it impossible for one to cultivate on the Immortal Path. And you are a descendent of royalty and thus, have inherited the karma from your ancestors. All hope isn't lost, though." The Shangyue who was despondent at Shu Yidan's words perked up.

"What do you mean?" Xiahou Shangyue asked with a hint of longing.

"Gods cultivate with faith energy, and faith energy originates from the karma that comes forth. But humans cannot become Gods in this world. However, there is one person lacking Godhood, can command the faith of all men." Shu Yidan said with a mysterious tone.

"Who?"

"The Emperor!" Shu Yidan's reply caused Xiahou Shangyue's mouth to gape.

Looking at her face which seemed surprised, Shu Yidan couldn't let his bad taste surface.

"His grief causes the country to mourn and his anger brings forth rivers of blood! He can kill without drawing a sword! Only the Emperor can command the faith of the common men and gather it!" Shu Yidan embellished his words before sighing.

"The path to become a God has been cut off but there is still a Path to become the Emperor. But this path can only be tread on by a single person!

If you dare to take this path, you will have to cut off the paths of everyone who will compete with you! You will have to lead armies and unify the kingdoms! You will have to become the crushing despair of those that oppose you and the beacon of hope for those that stand behind you!"

Shu Yidan smiled before completing his reply. "So, then. Do you dare?"

In reply, an imperial momentum arose from the body of the young teenage girl. It was as if the aura could press down on armies and make the common people bow to their knees. It could even make children cry!

"Of course! Since there is a path to immortality, why wouldn't I take it?

In this era, no one can dream of becoming the Emperor – all the countries will be unified under me!

All the common people will give only me their faith!

Since it is the path I embark on, no one shall dare cross my way!

Meet God, Kill God! Meet Buddha, Kill Buddha! In this era, only I shall be the Emperor!"

Shu Yidan couldn't help but lick his lips. This woman's reply was a little too much like a protagonist. Too bad he never read those types of novels...
