“Mhm…” the ‘goodbye’ kisses were becoming more intense by the day.

Narias’s girlfriends wanted to leave the best impression they could, so each and every one of them weren’t satisfied with a kiss on his cheek anymore. Even Emilia, who Narias thought was shy and reserved at first, gave a prolonged, passionate kiss. She even licked his tongue with hers, leaving a dazzling, frosty sensation on both of their lips afterwards.

How… will I ever get used to it? Narias was about to think he could get used to it, but it looked like there was way more to come in the future.

“See ya’ tomorrow, partner,” Flavia grinned after Emilia pulled away from Narias, completely unfazed by the fact he was kissed by another girl just a moment ago.

“I’ll see you at the club after classes, Narias,” Ileena was more or less herself as well.

“Yeah, see you all at the…” Narias raised his hand to wave, with his head still spinning after Emilia’s kiss, but then realized not all of his girlfriends will show up at his student club tomorrow. “Oh, Emilia, you… you will probably have to go to your own student club?”

“I… well…” the Ice Princess lowered her head, almost regretting about the fact that she would.

“Hey, who cares about the Elite Whatever club, just join ours, Emilia,” Flavia saw no problem with it.

“…” Emilia brushed her snow-white hair to the side, looking away.

“Come on, Flavia, let’s go,” Ileena said, turning to go.

“What? But I honestly think she should. And why are you telling me what to do?” Flavia furrowed her eyebrows, but something in Ileena’s posture made her stop and think. “Oh, yeah, sure. Let’s walk back together. Bye you two.”

Ileena and Flavia walked away, leaning and whispering something in between themselves.

“Would you like me to walk you to your dorm, Emilia?” Narias offered.

“Huh? Oh, yes. That would be lovely,” the girl accepted his offer and a lively smile jumped on her face.

“You don’t have to join our student club if you don’t want to, Emilia,” Narias said after they walked for a bit.

“Ah… thank you, Narias,” she smiled at him. “To tell you the truth, I’ve been thinking about it for a while now. I would… love to join your student club and spend more time with everyone, and… with you too.”

“I enjoy spending time with you too, Emilia.” Narias smiled back at her. “And I love the Magic Research student club. We have more members now and all of them are good friends.”

“Yes, it is… fun to have friends,” Emilia said after a short pause in between her words.

“I had never told this to anyone, but… when I enrolled into Reina’s Magic Academy, I never intended to join a student club,” Narias suddenly said.

“What? Really?” It was a surprise for her to hear him say that.

“Yeah,” he felt a little embarrassed about it for some reason. “I didn’t even know about the Student Recruitment Day until one of my classmates told me about it. Or rather, I didn’t bother finding out about it. My classmate insisted I should go check it out. It was almost an accident that I have joined the Magic Research student club too. After walking around and checking the student clubs for more than half a day, I was losing my patience. None of the student clubs I checked seemed to be serious enough for me. Except for the Elite Magicians club maybe, but that club had some requirements that I… well, wasn’t qualified to join it. In all honesty, I would’ve rather stayed in my room and read books all day.”

“Yes, I can see you doing just that,” it made Emilia laugh.

“Hah, yeah,” Narias threw one hand behind his head, trying to laugh about it too. “I would’ve lost so much if I had done that, though.”

“Huh? What do you mean, Narias?” The Ice Princess asked.

“As you know, if I hadn’t joined my current student club, there wouldn’t have been any club at all. You need a minimum of three members for a student club to be active. If the Magic Research student club was disbanded, I would’ve never met Ileena, or anyone else who’s in our student club right now. I mean, I would’ve probably bumped into them at school, or during our lunch breaks, but we would’ve probably just passed each other by without even knowing each other’s names. I’m so happy Stefan talked me into going to the Student Recruitment Day. I probably should thank him the next time I see him. Hah,” Narias half-chuckled to himself, thinking about a Thank You gift for Stefan. “Huh? Is something wrong, Emilia?”

While he was telling her about his experience with the student clubs, and what could’ve happened if he had never showed up at the Student Recruitment Day event, Narias hadn’t noticed when Emilia became emotional.

Woah, woah. Did I say something to upset her? Why is she crying? Narias didn’t know what to do.

“Oh, I’m so sorry. I just… realized something while you were telling me about how you joined your student club,” Emilia smiled while her tear froze on her cheek, leaving a sparkling trail behind it. The Ice Princess suddenly wrapped her arms around Narias’s neck and kissed him so passionately he felt he was floating. “Thank you… for sharing it with me, Narias. And for giving me the courage to do what I truly want.”

“Yeah… no problem…” Narias, still being in a daze after such affectionate kiss, had no idea what Emilia was thanking him for.

“Ahm… sorry. I just suddenly…” Emilia let him go, turning her happy, flushed face away.

“That’s… ok…” Narias’s face was burning red as well.

They walked next to each other quietly until they reached the outskirts of where the girls’ dorms were. Not wanting to draw too much attention to themselves, or to put Emilia in an uncomfortable position, Narias simply wished her a pleasant the evening before turning around to go back to his own dorm. Emilia was standing there for a brief moment, her eyes sparkling bright as they followed a boy student walking away. The Ice Princess smiled happily to herself before turning to go.

{the next day}

Man, how could I have forgotten about it? Narias thought to himself, taking a ride to El’Roonst.

During the lunch break Flavia asked him about the Two-Sided Bone Needle. Narias was supposed to go to El’Roonst to take it to Madam Froxen, as well as to talk to her about the dress that he wanted to buy as a gift for his mom. Narias planned to go to his student club after the classes, but after Flavia’s reminder, his plans were changed.

The city wasn’t too crowded when he arrived. Not many people were going out shopping, or to have fun, during an ordinary weekday. Finding Norella’s shop at the Mazaar Shopping District wasn’t too difficult for him either. Narias was good at remembering its location after checking the map at the entrance. It took him a while to get to the shop, though. It was located in a very popular, lucrative area, and attracted a lot of visitors.

Huh? So many people… It was a surprise for him to see so many customers inside Madam Froxen’s shop, considering the other shops he had passed weren’t even half as busy. But very soon he realized the reason behind it once he started to browse the goods offered at the shop. This is… amazing. Such beautiful garments. They look extremely high quality and… wait… are these also magically enchanted too? Wow, no wonder the shop is packed.

“Good day to you, sir. My name is Pirela. I sincerely apologize for taking such a long time to approach you. May I be of assistance in any way?” A polite racoon-resembling beast-woman spoke to Narias.

So polite. She must be one of the staff working here. Narias thought to himself.

“Oh, yeah, hello Pirela. My name is Narias Talrone. I came to see Madam Froxen, but… it seems you’re really busy today,” he told the shop assistant.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Mister Talrone. Madam Froxen was expecting you. If you follow me, please,” Pirela motioned with her hand, inviting Narias to follow.

Huh? Madam Froxen was expecting me? It was another surprise for Narias to hear.

“Ah… yes. Thank you,” he snapped out of his surprise and went after the racoon-looking female shop assistant.

“If you please wait here, Mister Talrone. I will go inform Madam Froxen of your arrival,” Pirela said with a light bow before leaving.

This is probably a guest waiting room. Such refined taste… Narias looked around after he was left alone.

The room was decorated to a very high standard. The carpet, the furniture, the artwork on the walls and overall décor resembled renaissance style from Anthony’s world. Only here, it had this fabulous, magical touch and looked very extravagant. Narias was still admiring the rooms décor when he heard the door open and Norella Froxen walked in, accompanied by Pirela by her side.

“Mister Talrone, what a pleasant surprise it is to see you at my humble shop today. I feel so delighted you decided to grace me with your visit today,” the shop owner greeted him.

“Good day to you Madam Froxen. Please forgive me for showing up so unexpectedly,” Narias bowed down respectfully.

“But you are not intruding, Mister Talrone. Quite the contrary. I was looking forward to seeing you again,” Norella smiled at him.

“Really? But your shop is so busy, I thought it might be a bad timing,” he wondered.

“Thank you for your consideration, but you shouldn’t worry about it too much. That’s just a normal workday at my shop, you see. I take it you have come to discuss the matter about the gift for your mother? I must say, it is really admirable of you wanting to buy a gift for her. But before we go into detail, would you like something to drink? You must be thirsty, Mister Talrone?” Madam asked, hiding behind her fan right after.

“Oh, that is very kind of you. Thank you, Madam,” Narias was actually feeling thirsty.

“Right away, ma’am,” Pirela quickly responded after Norella Froxen waved to her.

Wow, she has her assistants very well trained. Narias noticed how quickly Pirela took the hint.

“The drinks will arrive soon. In the meantime, would you mind telling me more about your mother, Mister Talrone?” Norella wanted to know.

“My mom? Well…” Narias thought for a moment. “She’s very kind, and very loving. She taught me a lot how to communicate with people and always encouraged me to do my best.”

“She must be such a caring woman,” Madam Froxen smiled, covering her face with a fan again, so only her eyes were visible.

“Oh, sorry. That doesn’t tell you much about how she looks, does it?” He realized Norella probably wanted to know more about his mom’s appearance.

“It tells me quite a lot, actually. Still, you are absolutely right, Mister Talrone. I would need to know your mother’s measurements if I were to craft a dress for her,” the hostess commented politely.

Suddenly, a knock was heard from the other side of the door. After Norella invited the person to come in, Pirela showed up carrying a tray with a hot tea. She served it to Narias, then to Madam Froxen next, then bowed respectfully and left the room without saying anything.

“Please, Mister Talrone,” the shop owner invited him to have a taste.

“Thank you, ma’am,” he picked up his cup.

Huh? What? This tastes like… mint? Narias was taken aback by a familiar taste from a long time ago.

“Is the tea not to your liking, Mister Talrone?” Norella asked carefully after witnessing his unusual reaction to the tea’s taste.

“Oh, no, no. Not at all. It tastes really nice. It’s just that… the taste reminded me of a drink from a long time ago,” he explained.

“A taste from a long time ago?” Madam Froxen looked at him with a suspicious curiosity.

“I meant, a few years ago. I suppose… it just feels like it was such a long time ago,” Narias had to quickly think of another explanation to reduce suspicion.

“Does it? Well, I am happy to hear you enjoy it, Mister Talrone,” the hostess had a sip of her own tea herself.

“Oh, that’s right. I almost forgot about it,” Narias reached inside his pocket. “Do you think this would be of any use to you, Madam?”

“My, my, a Two-Sided Bone Needle. It would surely make my work easier,” Norella’s eyes sparkled with a delighted excitement.

“Make your work easier?” he asked.

“Please, do forgive me, Mister Talrone. I meant, I would be interested in buying this magical tool off of you,” the white fox hostess told him.

“Oh, that’s great then. I don’t know how much it is worth, though,” Narias admitted.

“No need to worry, Mister Talrone. I will pay a fair price for it. Or I could put the money for the needle towards the payment of your mother’s dress instead?” Norella suggested.

“Actually, it was Flavia who found this Two-Sided Bone Needle inside the Magic Dungeon. So, the money is supposed to go to her. She… forgot she had it with her when we visited your shop at the Crafter’s District last week,” he explained.

“I see. In that case, I will pay for it with coins, so you can pass the money to Miss Flavia instead,” Madam Froxen had no objections with it. “Now, I still need the details about your mother’s measurements, but from what you have told me, it seems like you don’t know what they are, Mister Talrone?”

“Ah, yes. Sorry, I guess I…” Narias rubbed the back of his head, feeling a little disappointed he won’t be able to buy a gift for his mother. Not a dress gift, at least.

“Don’t feel so down, Mister Talrone. I believe I do have a solution how we can learn what your mother’s measurements are. Hmm…” for some reason, Norella Froxen had a suspiciously cheeky smile and her eyes showed an excited sparkle too.

“We can?” Narias wondered, becoming excited as well, but was also curious how.

“Yes, indeed. However, as it is a slightly delicate matter, I would need to ask for help from some of my girl assistants. Which also means, they would need some time to prepare. Would you mind waiting for a short while, Mister Talrone?” Madam Froxen explained.

“That’s no problem at all, Madam,” he answered, becoming hopeful buying a dress for his mom was possible after all.

“Wonderful. One moment, please,” Norella Froxen was pleased to hear him say that. She turned to the side, where another small table was and reached for a bell placed on it. At first, Narias thought that the bell was part of the room’s décor when he was looking around earlier, but Madam Froxen rang it twice after picking it up.

“Yes, ma’am,” Pirela showed up soon after.

“Could you please prepare the stage room, Pirela? Number six, please,” was all Norella said.

“Right away, ma’am,” the racoon-looking girl assistant acknowledged, bowed down and quickly left.

Huh? Was it me or Pirela became a little excited about it? Narias caught a glimpse of Pirela’s excited smile at the end.

“It will take only a short while to prepare, Mister Talrone. In the meantime, I’d be delighted to learn more about how you managed to come across the Two-Sided Bone Needle. If you don’t mind telling me about it, that is?” The hostess was very sleek with her words.

“Oh, actually, it was Flavia who found it. Well, maybe not entirely on her own, but…” Narias started his story.
