Wow, we have seven people in our student club now, but I honestly didn’t expect for Vivia to join. She… definitely had it rough after she was kicked out of the Sweet Puppies club. No other clubs she tried to apply to wanted to accept her. I never thought Vivia was a bad person, but since she was with Zhanna and Slurina… Narias was thinking to himself, making his way to the school in the early morning. He was walking by himself this time. Ileena said she wanted everyone’s approval, but in the end, it looked like I was the one making the decision. Although, Ileena said Vivia filled out the application form and provided some other information to show she was serious about it. I suppose we’ll wait and see. I just hope everyone will get along.

“Yooo’, buddy!” It was a while since Narias was ambushed by Stefan. “What’s with the depressed look? You should be flying above the clouds after what you did.”

“S… Stefan, hi,” Narias’s daydreaming was broken in an instant.

“Maaan, you are something else,” his classmate threw a sour stare at Narias.

“What?” Narias was confused.

“What do you mean ‘what’? You’re the talk of the school now, at least among the first-year students. Beating the Fanged Whitemane Wolf and all. I still can’t believe it. I feel so bad now, I should’ve joined your team,” Stefan threw his shoulders down, honestly feeling sad about it.

There was a reason I didn’t invite you in my team, you know. Narias frowned to himself at the same time.

“It is we not I who beat the Fanged Whitemane Wolf. I went there with a team, remember?” Narias told Stefan.

“Yes, yes. Of course. Say, wanna go to the Magic Dungeon with my team next time?” Stefan showed the sweetest grin.

Not you too. Why am I not surprised, though? Narias shook his head with a sigh.

“Sorry Stefan, but I have a team of my own,” Narias answered.

“I know, I know. But you’ll think about it, right buddy?” Stefan sounded like he had his next sentence ready, whatever Narias was about to say. But he didn’t. Narias simply turned away and continued towards the school.

The classes were back to how they were before the Magic Dungeon exploration test started. The teachers were back at being the teachers again. When students started going to Professor’s Zeanlor classes again, some of them admitted they’d rather be in the dungeon fighting monsters instead. Ranga Dreknor and Estella Alifur didn’t hold back during the practical training classes either. Especially Estella, since she had the luck of going with the student groups who underperformed.

Mrs. Rosy Orienta was as sweet as she ever was, but now her classes included some extra practical work, so students couldn’t just goof as they did before. And Belinda Salroze? She was the same strict teacher as she always was. Most of the time, that is. She wasn’t putting Narias on an interrogation pedestal anymore. There were many more suitable students, who weren’t that much prepared and made the teacher enjoy her time drilling them with questions.

Narias was would catch Belinda flush once in a while when their eyes would meet, catching a blush of his own back. It didn’t happen very often, but when it did, the Dream World fantasies would flood in and the class would have to write an unplanned test about whatever topic would pop into the sexy, athletic female teacher’s mind.

And of course, Narias would go to his student club to meet his friends and train after the classes.

“Hello everyone,” Narias greeted his club members after yet another day at school.

“Yo’, partner,” Flavia was quick to hop closer to him to say hi.

“Hello Narias,” Ileena said, but didn’t get up from her table. She had a few books and a notebook open in front of her, working on something.

“Hello Narias. How was your school day today?” Emilia greeted him politely.

“It was great. Professor Zeanlor taught us about the importance of mastering our basic spells. He said we wouldn’t be able to grow as spellcasters if we cannot do something as simple as master basic spells. And Belinda Salroze tried to teach us about mana channelling. It is so much harder than I thought. She also showed how her Lightning Ward spell works. It was incredible. Oh, sorry. How was your day, Emilia?” Narias asked after telling her about his day.

“It was ok. I had a class with Mrs. Orienta which I found very useful,” the Ice Princess answered.

“Hi everyone,” a tiny, cheerful girl entered the club room.

“Hey, Nicky,” Flavia greeted her. “Yo’, Growly, what’s up?”

“Hi. Good,” everyone was used to how Growly talked by now.

“Did you two come together?” Flavia wanted to know.

“I’ve met Growly on the way here,” Nicky answered with a smile.

“Yeah,” Growly confirmed it, rubbing his cheek with one finger.

“They are working really hard on renovating the kitchen. Did you see that rubbish pile outside?” Nicky changed the subject.

“Tell me about it. And they threw the whole kitchen out. How will we cook now?” Flavia waved with her hands.

“I’m sure they will put a new one for us, Flavia,” Emilia reassured her.

“They better. Hmph,” the bunny girl crossed her arms. “And why is it taking them so long?”

“The workers want to make sure it will be safe for us to use it once they are done,” Emilia explained.

“Cooking food is nice. But must be safe,” Growly agreed.

Flavia is as impatient as ever. I must say, her cooked food is really good. Oh, man… that just reminds me. I promised to come to her place after we come back from the dungeon, so she could cook for me. Damn, not again. I’m a total moron, and Flavia is too nice to remind me about it. She might even think I don’t want to come. While listening to his friends talking, Narias suddenly remembered his promise.

“So, Ileena, want to train with me again?” Flavia wanted to occupy herself with something, so she wouldn’t think about the kitchen.

“Sorry, but I wanted to talk to everyone about something today,” Ileena had a serious expression on her face.

“Really? What is it?” the bunny girl wanted to know.

“I want to talk to everyone I said,” Ileena adjusted her glasses.

“Great, so, what is it?” Flavia repeated her question.

“Flavia, Vivia is not here yet,” Nicky reminded her.

“Vivia? Where is she then?” Flavia looked around.

“Everyone has different classes. She might’ve been held up,” Ileena explained.

“Hello. Sorry I’m late. We had a practical training with Miss Alifur today. She had us stay and practice until the last second,” Vivia showed suddenly, being slightly out of breath too.

“Hah, Miss Alifur is cool,” Flavia grinned.

“She’s… really scary,” Vivia sighed deeply.

“Ok, now that everyone is here, I’d like to discuss something important,” Ileena closed the books in front of her and moved them to the side.

“That sounds serious,” Nicky knew it won’t be a short talk.

“It’s about the Magic Dungeon exploration,” Ileena wasn’t beating around the bushes. “As you already know, the dungeon exploration is now open for everyone who has passed the exploration test. Which means, the students are free to form their own groups and go to explore the Magic Dungeon, with a scheduled permission from the academy of course.”

“Heck yeah. We’ll go kick that Fanged Whitemane Wolf’s butt again, or… teeth,” Flavia laughed after correcting herself.

“It won’t be that easy,” Ileena commented.

“Why not? We have defeated it with just four of us. And it was the one with five adds,” Flavia argued.

“That’s not what I meant. Let me get right to the point,” Ileena adjusted her glasses. “When you went to the Magic Dungeon, the academy provided most of the supplies. You have bought some extra items, but it wasn’t that much and it didn’t cost a lot. Going forward, the academy won’t supply us with anything. We’ll have to pay for everything ourselves.”

“Ok. I don’t see a problem with that,” Flavia really didn’t.

“Really? Let me ask you a question then. How much money do you have?” The club’s manager fixated her eyes on Flavia.

“Hey, I have enough to…” the half beast bunny girl was about to say something, but then put a silly smile on her face. “I… I have to wait until I receive my next allowance from my parents.”

“What about the rest of you?” Ileena wanted to know.

“You know about me, Ileena,” Emilia smiled.

“I… I have bought a gift for my mom, so…” Narias was in a similar situation too.

“I have a little saved up,” Nicky said.

“I can buy food,” Growly offered, instead of telling how much money he had.

“How much do we need?” Vivia asked a question of her own instead of answering Ileena’s.

“I did some calculations, and for only bear minimum, we would need this amount,” Ileena opened a piece of paper and slid it forward for everyone around the table to see.

“Eeh? Really?” Flavia exclaimed.

Wow, she broke it down by how much each item costs even. Amazing. Narias was impressed with the calculations.

“That number doesn’t include any extra stuff we would want to take with us. And I don’t even want to talk about the magic items, accessories or armor that could help us fight the monsters,” Ileena told everyone.

She thought about everything. Incredible. Narias was amazed with Ileena’s planning.

“What do you suggest, Ileena?” Narias asked, probably knowing his girlfriend had thought of something already.

“We need to make some money if we want to explore the Magic Dungeon properly,” was her answer.

“Wait, you want us to get a job?” Flavia asked, slightly perplexed.

“That would be rather difficult,” Nicky commented, tilting her head to the side.

“That’s not what I meant, sigh…” Ileena shook her head. “We can sell the Magic Crystals and other valuables we find inside the Magic Dungeon. So, my suggestion is, we should go explore the Magic Dungeon to find treasure instead of trying to reach the lower floors underprepared. This way, we could make some money we could use to buy the necessary supplies, and save on some extra equipment that we could buy in the future.”

“Wow, you really thought it through, Ileena,” Nicky was impressed.

“That’s so clever,” added Emilia.

“I’m sorry, but I have a few questions,” Vivia said. “How do you divide the items that you find inside the Magic Dungeon? And how much money each person has to contribute? Or is everyone responsible for themselves?”

Those are some valid questions. Narias thought.

“We haven’t been to the dungeon as a club yet, so we don’t have those rules set either,” Ileena answered.

“But it would be good to know in advance, wouldn’t it?” Vivia asked with a smile.

“I agree on this one,” Nicky agreed with her.

“How did your group decide to divide the loot during your run, Narias?” Ileena asked him.

“Oh, aah… We came up with it on the spot. We agreed we would divide the Magic Crystals equally among everyone in the team. As for the other items that we have found, they went to the person who found them,” Narias explained.

“I believe that sounds reasonable,” Ileena commented.

“But that would put some people at a disadvantage financially, wouldn’t it?” Vivia asked, but then felt some intense stares directed at her. “Sorry, I’m not trying to sound pessimistic or greedy.”

“I kinda understand what she means, Ileena,” Nicky said, adding a charming smile on her face.

“I… realize that, but…” the club’s manager tried to think about it. “What do you suggest in this case, Vivia?”

“Me? Well…” Vivia felt being put on a spot. But since she was the one to start the conversation about it, she had to come up with something. “Ah, I mean, I understand that everyone has to be responsible, but it will certainly be easier for some people… Not that I suggest someone should pay for the others.”

That’s a fair point. Growly certainly has an advantage over somebody who can’t recognize how the ores look inside the dungeon. But forcing him to pay for somebody wouldn’t be fair either. Narias was thinking really hard about it. Suddenly, an idea struck his mind. Hey, what about…

“Hey, how about we create our student club’s Bank?” Narias suggested without thinking what he had just said.

“A… bank?” Emilia put a finger to her lips.

“That’s… an interesting idea,” Vivia said, but the look in her face was one of confusion.

“A bank? Why do you want to build a bank here? It’s like… we need a river or a pond. Do you want us to dig one, partner?” Flavia was equally perplexed.

“Huh?” Growly simply tilted his head to the side.

“I believe Narias meant something different, Flavia,” Ileena was surprised but not surprised.

“That’s Narias for you,” Nicky chuckled.

Eek! That’s right. They don’t have ‘Banks’ here. Dang it! I’ve done it again. Narias finally realized why everyone was staring at him with big, fishy eyes.

“Would you mind explaining what you mean in more detail, Narias?” Ileena asked calmly.

“Aah… Sure,” Narias tried to laugh about it, with not much luck. “What I meant was, we could… aaa… create a… money saving place… like a… treasury. Yeah, a treasury. Then we could… contribute to it, and… use the money to buy supplies for the Magic Dungeon exploration. I called it a Bank, because… it keeps the water inside… a river or a pond. You know, keeps it safe from… escaping. So, we can have a Bank to… keep the money safe…”

What a lousy explanation. But that was the best I could come up on the spot. I’m definitely gonna get in trouble for this one. Narias was sweating.

“Woah, that is so smart,” but Flavia was instantly impressed.

“I would’ve never thought about it. Now I understand why the river banks are so important,” Emilia admitted, thinking about it.

“That is… a really clever suggestion,” Vivia said.

“Money Bank. Sounds cool,” Growly was impressed.

“For real,” Flavia caught how Growly called it and thought it sounded cool too.

“That makes total sense,” Ileena sounded like she expected to hear what Narias had said, but in reality, she was just trying to hide her astonishment, just like everyone else. “Could you… could you explain to us in more detail how it would work, Narias?”

They… are ok with it? Phew… Narias let out a sigh of relief.

“Well, it’s just a thought, but…” he gathered his thoughts. “Well, the Bank…”

“Money Bank,” Flavia jumped in when Narias made a pause. “It sounds cool, ok?”

Growly grinned when she said that.

“Ok, Money Bank,” Narias smiled, not wanting to start an argument. “So, all of us could contribute to our club’s Money Bank and when we go to the Magic Dungeon, we could use the funds from it to pay for the supplies that we’d buy.”

“So, we just put some money in the Money Bank and take it out when we need it?” Nicky wanted to confirm.

“Yes, that’s about right,” he answered.

“And how much would every person need to put in, and how often?” Vivia wanted more details again.

“Oh, how much and…” Narias had to think about it again. Everyone waited quietly while he was pondering about it. “Ok, how about we do like this? Since the intention is to have money to use for the Magic Dungeon exploration, I think we should contribute to the Money Bank with the money we earn from the Magic Dungeon itself. Of course, everyone is free to contribute extra, but it wouldn’t be a requirement. As for how much each person would need to put in, well… Aaah… I think… and to make it fair, how about each person contributes a portion of what they earn instead of a fixed amount?”

“A portion of what they earn? Yes, I believe that would be fair,” Emilia agreed.

“Yeah, totally,” Flavia was in agreement as well.

“And what portion would you suggest, Narias?” Ileena was the one to ask it this time.

“Oh, well… I don’t think it would be fair to ask for too much. I mean, I understand everyone would like to keep some money they make for themselves. But at the same time, if the amount is too low, we’ll never have enough funds to buy what we need. So, how about one third of what we earn from selling the items we find inside the Magic Dungeon? Or if it’s too much then…” Narias suggested, but then thought one third of what you earn might’ve been too much.

“I’m fine with it,” Flavia agreed again.

“I’m happy with it too,” Emilia said.

“I agree,” Growly had no problems with it either.

“We still get to keep two thirds and that’s twice as much as we will give away. What do you think, Ileena?” Nicky asked.

“Yes, I believe it is a very reasonable amount. We’re talking about a portion of what each person will earn after selling the loot that they find inside the Magic Dungeon. And it doesn’t matter how much money each person makes everyone will be contributing the ‘same’ amount into the Money Bank. Are you happy with it, Vivia?” Ileena wanted to know.

“Ah, yes. This sounds really fair,” Vivia agreed.

“Great. Now, one more question. Where should we keep the money? Honestly, I wouldn’t want to keep the money here at our club. We don’t have a secure enough room or a locker to keep it safe. Nor I would want to keep the money in my room for personal reasons,” Ileena asked, explaining her reasoning.

“I wouldn’t want to take the responsibility for it also. Sorry,” Nicky smiled.

“I apologize, but I can’t keep it in my room either,” Emilia said politely.

“I… will kindly decline as well,” Vivia added.

“It should be you, partner,” Flavia didn’t even bother to decline.

“Eh? Me? But…” Narias was actually surprised about it.

“Of course. It was your idea and all of us trust you with it,” Ileena said.

But I wouldn’t want to keep the money in my room either. It definitely wouldn’t be safe. Narias was scratching his head.

“Ok, but… it wouldn’t be safe to keep the money in my room either, so… Oh, I know. How about I talk to Miss Sweetbell about it? I’m sure the academy has facilities to keep their own money safe. Maybe we can agree for them to keep our funds with them too? But they might charge us a fee for it…” Narias had a great idea, but realized it might not be the best idea.

“It’s settled then,” Ileena cut in front of everyone else putting a ‘stamp’ on it. “I’ll leave it to you, Narias.”

“Yeah. Way to go, partner,” Flavia grinned excitedly.

“What would we do without Narias?” Nicky chuckled, but didn’t try to hide it this time.

“Here,” Growly surprised everyone by placing a handful of coins on the table.

“Huh? What are these for, Growly?” Narias wondered.

“One third of money I made,” his friend answered.

“Ah, wait. You don’t have to pay now. We just agreed on it a moment ago,” Narias didn’t want to accept it.

“No. Dad scolded me for taking everything for myself from our run. He said I didn’t go alone. I went with a team. I should contribute to the team. My dad is right. I want to pay,” Growly was serious, and reasonable.

“Aah… sorry, but I had spent all the money I earned and then some…” Flavia was poking her fingers, feeling uncomfortable about it.

“Yeah. That purchase was… a little expensive.” It seemed Emilia was in a similar situation.

“I… I will contribute in a few days,” Ileena’s cheeks were burning from the embarrassment.

“Hey, hey. You don’t have to. Besides, you didn’t even go to the dungeon with us, Ileena,” Narias had to stop all of them.

“Don’t worry. I know you paid for the Whitemane Leather Armor. I didn’t pay, so I pay now,” Growly was ok being the only one giving money now.

“Thank you, Growly,” Emilia thanked him.

“Thanks, Growly,” Flavia was happy, and relieved.

“Can we train now?” Growly was itching to do something other than sitting in his chair.

“Oh, sure. I’ll train with you today, Growly,” Flavia was feeling pumped all of a sudden. “Or was there anything else you wanted to talk to us about, Ileena?”

“No. That is all,” Ileena answered.

“Great. Let’s go, Growly,” Flavia jumped from her seat.

“Yeah,” the furry bear boy followed her.

Phew. That was intense. Now, I guess I’ll have to go talk to Miss Sweetbell tomorrow. Narias finally felt at ease.
