By the time breakfast was ready, everyone had woken up, so it’s breakfast time!

Since Senpai eats at the castle, she complained, “Aww, I envy you! Your food looks delicious, Maito! I want to eat your food too! Aww, so jealous!” and went over there.

The castle’s food is mostly bread-based, so she must have been quite envious. I’m sorry about that. I’ll make some small rice balls for snacks. The fillings will be kombu seaweed simmered in soy sauce and flaked fish.

During breakfast, we discussed the information we acquired last night, and we had quite a productive discussion about “Transfer” sealing.

The main problem is how the enemy will come here. If they have some sort of upgrade to “Transfer” that allows them to suddenly warp right to us, it would be quite troublesome. But there’s no doubt that they will come in some way like that.

I learned that surprise attacks are strong in this world.

…I couldn’t ask for more details, so there are still many vague parts, but it seems that Fukuyama-kun’s “Transfer” is like an advanced version of it. With that skill, he can specify a distance and direction to teleport, or even specify the exact location.

In other words, there’s a possibility they could warp right into the throne room, not just the castle, maybe even without setting foot in the town.

…However, if they plan to come in a large group, it’s not as simple as just a single individual teleporting.

From what I’ve heard, the MP consumption of “Transfer” is roughly proportional to the weight and distance of what is being transported. So they might have to get closer before using it. I’m not sure how many people they intend to transport, but judging by the number of physical life of heroes recovered from the temple, it’s likely to be over 20 people.

And it seems they requested the dispatch of the temple knights, so it looks like they won’t shy away from increasing their numbers.

In that case… it’s becoming quite difficult for us to come up with countermeasures.

Since it’s a one-shot deal with a sudden ambush, we want to do everything we can to prepare and increase our chances of success.

Knowing when they’ll come, how they’ll come, and how many of them there will be would be really helpful, but unfortunately, we don’t know all that.

Regarding when they’ll come, we can get a rough idea by observing the movements of the nobles. We know they’ll probably warp here, so we have some idea of the route. As for how many of them will come, we can imagine it’s going to be quite a large group.

But that’s about the extent of our knowledge.

…Actually, there is a way to find out more about these things.

In other words, if we pay a visit to Fukuyama-kun’s house, we’ll probably be able to learn a lot. Carelessly enough, Fukuyama-kun even told us where he lives!

…So, today’s mission for Hariu is reconnaissance over there.

My suggestion of going as Maito (the little sister) was quickly rejected.

Well, I understand. Twice bitten, thrice shy, and if I come close to death again, I might just die for real this time. No objections there. Besides, I have the task of mass-producing the sealing nets for “Transfer” to handle!

In the worst case scenario, Hariu can hide in the shadows and pass unnoticed if anything happens. After all, as a “Ninja,” he should be fine as long as he stays hidden in the shadows, and unless the opponent has a skill to detect him, he should be safe. With that reasoning, Hariu was sent alone to the southern area of Deichemoore.

To ensure a quick return in case of emergencies, Toriumi is on standby at George-san’s place.

The Elixir-making team as well as Toriumi and Hariu went to George-san’s place to inquire about the ingredients for the Elixirs.

Katori seems to be busy repairing equipment that melted during the Glida fight.

And then there’s the matter of… well, fighting indoors with humanoid optical weapons is a bit, well, quite challenging. So he seem to be working on making some improvements.

As for the remaining Suzumoto and Kadomi-kun, they are doing some muscle training in the room where the Cause is floating. They seem to be getting bored and are playing Shiritori while doing sit-ups, which is surreal and kind of funny.

Now, I’ll get back to mass-producing the nets.

I’ve been thinking about how to handle these “Transfer” sealing threads more effectively, and as a result, I decided to coat them with potato starch. By doing so, magically, the stickiness subsided, and I could weave them more smoothly.

Once they’re woven, I just need to clean off the potato starch residue with the “Cleaning” skill, and they return to their sticky state.

With this method, I might be able to handle weaving fabrics too. Currently, I’m working on weaving the nets using a makeshift loom.

The conclusion is… yes, it’s possible.

With this method, creating a large carpet-like object and laying it in the Throne Room would indeed make it impossible for the Queen to escape.

But I really should have thought of this method earlier. I was foolishly struggling to weave it the other day.

Ah, no, no, no, the reason I came up with the idea of coating the threads with potato starch is definitely not because I suddenly craved for tempura-fried tofu or anything! Absolutely not!

Listening to Suzumoto and Kadomi-kun playing Shiritori endlessly, I continued weaving and successfully created the floor covering by the morning.

Through careful weaving, the Gel Thread, despite its adhesive nature, turned into a relatively presentable object.

Now, I just need to “Dye” it according to the purpose. “Fire Resistance” seems like a good candidate, as being immune to fire would be the most troublesome thing.

By the way, here’s something I recently learned:

When equipping gear with “Fire Resistance,” the resistance is transferred to the wearer. In other words, you don’t need to cover the entire body; the resistance is applied to the person.

However, unlike effects like “Defense Increase,” which scale with the covered area, “Fire Resistance” has a binary effect. It either works fully or not at all, depending on whether there is a sufficient area of coverage.

And as for the equipment itself, in other words, when it’s in its non-equipped state like clothing or fabric with “Fire Resistance,” it becomes inherently “Fire Resistant.”

So, it’s essentially non-flammable fabric. Like a fire mouse leather garment.

Using this, we can create a non-flammable carpet, you see.

… Other ideas I’ve considered are using “Defense Increase” to enhance durability or “Magic Nullification” to become more resistant to magic in general.

Yeah, being destroyed by magic is also a concern. Hmm, this part might require further discussion.

Now that everyone has returned, it’s time for lunch.

Hariu and Toriumi are heading out again after this. Good job, you two.

For lunch, I felt like having tempura-fried tofu, so tempura it is. Along with rice, miso soup, and some saba-like fish simmered in miso.

… Satisfying!

As usual, during the meal, we all provide our respective updates.

“I checked out Fukuyama’s place, but there was nobody. The living arrangements seemed to indicate someone should be there, so they’re probably out. I’ll check again this afternoon.”

Oh, I see. Well, at least we confirmed they aren’t a complete recluse.

… I’m a bit worried about Fukuyama-kun’s mental state, but as long as he’s engrossed in something, he should be fine for now. The fact that he’s not a complete recluse is reassuring, probably.

“We found out that the ‘Azure Sky Seeds’ are not plant seeds but rather gemstones. They seem to occasionally appear in jewelry stores in the capital, so George-san and I will check it out this afternoon. As for the ‘Ashes of the Abyss,’ we’re completely clueless.”

Well, at least we’ve made some progress on our side.

“The ‘Ashes of the Abyss,’ huh? Wonder if they’re underground or something?”

… Sorry, I got this image of the Kanto Lome layer in my head. It’s probably something completely different.

“You didn’t know where the High Priest got them, right?”

“Want to check again?”

“Nah, it’s okay. If not, then they must have sourced it from somewhere or had it in the temple from the beginning.”

Right, the temple.

… Since we went to Ariane-san’s place yesterday, I should have asked about it! Sorry! I’ll go ask again when it gets dark!

“On my end, I made good progress. Toriumi’s armor and Kadomi-san’s armor are fixed, so I’ll check and confirm them later. Also, I made the equipment that Hariu requested.”

“Oh, thanks. So, what’s the deal with Katori’s equipment?”

“Hmm, since it needs to be usable indoors, it’ll probably end up being like powered armor.”

How about you stay away from there for a while? Weren’t you using regular weapons like bows and guns for a period?

“I made the carpet. We’ll decide on the ‘dyeing’ part after we get the results of Hariu’s reconnaissance, is that okay?”

“Yeah, that sounds good. Oh, by the way, Maito-san, I’m going to make a device to produce the nets, so can I have a few of them?”

“Sure, take as many as you need. With mass production becoming possible, it should be fine.”

Katori looked pleased as he started thinking about something, and I’m guessing it’s something filled with dreams and romance, yes.

“We were excavating words starting with ‘pu.'”

“…And we did some ab exercises.”

Yeah, while I was diligently weaving the fabric, they were playing shiritori the whole time.

The fact that pragmatism came out before words like ‘pool’ or ‘plastic’ was pretty impressive.

“…And the moment you realized it’s not ‘Puala Lumpur’ but ‘Kuala Lumpur,’ the despair was intense.”

“Oh, so that’s why Kadomi-san suddenly seemed so down. I was wondering what happened.”

Hmm, the contrast between the previous report and this conversation is quite something!

In the afternoon, everyone went back to their individual tasks again.

“I’m back.”

“Ah, welcome back, the Elixir-Making Team. How did it go?”

During snack time, the Elixir-Making Team returned. After refueling with MP, Toriumi went to wait at George-san’s place. Well, we have Hariu there, so it’s okay.

“This is the ‘Azure Sky Seeds,’ it seems.”

President showed us a transparent and intensely blue gemstone with a flattened teardrop shape. Each one was about the size of a thumbnail, and they were scattered in the bag.

…Acquiring such a large quantity must have been quite a challenge.

“George-san is amazing. He talked to the owner of the jewelry store, and they gave him these.”

…I can almost imagine George-san’s sly smirk. What kind of leverage does he have on them?

“We also bought various other things, so let’s distribute them later, okay?”

I wonder if he really bought them at regular prices?
