It was quiet inside the room.
Ning Zhi rolled over and she seemed to still be able to taste Lu Jue’s breath on her. He was learning too fast. She could barely breath earlier.
Her lips tingling with a little pain. It was the first time that she had realized that he was no little puppy, he was a little wolf cub!
And his wolf’s nature was starting to show.
The next day, Ning Zhi recalled what had happened during her last trip and she quickly looked for the news.
The news articles had altered once again. This time, the only fatality was Professor Yuan. There was no Fang Yuzhou nor was there any injured pedestrians.
Ning Zhi had more or less expected that and, as such, she was not too surprised when she read that.
She couldn’t be happier knowing that she had saved Wei Xing’s girlfriend. Much like how she had saved Lu Jue’s grandmother. A small action from her had saved someone’s life. That made her happy from the bottom of her heart.
At the laboratory, everyone could tell that Wei Xing was in a very good mood today.
“What’s the occasion today?” Someone couldn't help but asked Wei Xing.
“It’s my girlfriend’s birthday tomorrow and we are going out to celebrate after work.” Wei Xing smiled in a sunny and foolish way with his teeth showing.
“Here I thought you have some major event going on.” His colleague teased him.
“My girlfriend’s birthday is a major event to me. I am glad that she was born.” Wei Xing rubbed his head. “That being said, there is something even more important. It will turn into a major event if I succeed.”
Next to him, the married male colleague immediately got what he meant. He patted Wei Xing on his shoulder and said, “Oh boy, are you going to be proposing?”
Wei Xing’s smile became even more silly. He didn’t rebut him as though he had passively confirmed the statement.
“Good for you. I wish you luck. We will be waiting for your wedding invitation!”
“I sure hope so, Brother Cheng. Afternoon tea is my treat if I succeed.”
“Don’t worry. I am sure you will succeed.”
Lu Jue’s ears were perked up during the entire conversation, especially the part about Wei Xing celebrating his girlfriend’s birthday with her. His lips pinched. He didn’t know when Zhizhi’s birthday was.
After work that day, Lu Jue had on him his red backpack and took the elevator down accompanied by Wei Xing.
They had just reached the front door when a petite silhouette came running up to them and threw her arms around Wei Xing.
“You are off! I was just debating whether I should wait for you inside,” said Fang Yuzhou coquettishly as she put her arms around Wei Xing’s waist.
There was heavy foot traffic on the street and Wei Xing felt a little shy. He stroked his girlfriend on her head and said, “Give me a few more minutes. I can’t take off just yet.”
“Okay.” Fang Yuzhou let go of her arms considerately and held his hand instead. She loved having their fingers intertwined.
Next to them, Lu Jue’s lips were pressed shut and finally relaxed when he saw the black car pulled over in front of him.
Zhizhi was here to pick him up.
The door opened up and Fang Yuzhou saw a pretty and familiar face, “Big Sister Zhizhi.”
Ning Zhi was taken aback a little. She saw Fang Yuzhou greeting her affectionately from outside the car.
Fang Yuzhou was a few years older than Ning Zhi but, as Ning Zhi had saved her and also appeared to be more mature and quieter, Fang Yuzhou couldn't help but called Ning Zhi Big Sister every time she saw her.
Seeing the bright smile on Fang Yuzhou, Ning Zhi’s eyes curved. “I’m so glad to see you.”
Fang Yuzhou, from the outside of the car, was very emotional when she heard Ning Zhi said that.
Ever since she had met Ning Zhi, she had been idolizing her. Ning Zhi was like a goddess to her and was more important than any other idols of hers.
If it wasn’t Ning Zhi who got her out of Professor Yuan’s car, she probably would have died in his car that night.
