He wasn't disappointed, though, when he didn't see that person there and the bridge is empty. After all, he already expected this'd happen.

He sighed as a bitter smile formed on his lips. "I really should get used to this." He muttered as he scratched his head. "Expecting nothing, no disappointments, too." He said and sighed.

He was about to leave when he heard a voice.

"... Wanyin."

Jiang Cheng sharply turned and, together with the moon unveiled by the clouds, Lan Xichen appeared in the middle of the bridge, standing with his exceptionally bright smile on his face, his snow white robes looked as if glowing because of the moonlight.

He felt his heart stopped, his whole world stopped and he held his breath. His whole world began to move when he saw him slowly walking towards him.

But, just as how slow the man is walking towards him, it's how fast Jiang Cheng's heart is beating.

Lan Xichen stopped in front of him. "I believe you remembered." He softly said, staring at Jiang Cheng's surprised face. "This is where we first met, that's why you are here, too... am I right?" he asked and chuckled when he saw him flushed.

Jiang Cheng, embarrassed, looked away. "I just happened..." he said, then glanced at Lan Xichen. His face went redder when he saw him smiling brightly at him, obviously seeing he's teasing him.

He lowered his head to hide his embarrassed face.

"But – " Wei Wuxian said as he sipped his drink. " – I think they're really not that close." He said.

Jiang Cheng raised his head and blinked. "What do you mean?" he asked, puzzled.

Wei Wuxian put down his cup. "Who would stab his own bestfriend - ?" he asked in a matter-of-fact tone.

"Me." Jiang Cheng seriously answered.

Wei Wuxian's eyes went wide and he gaped at him. He looked at him, hurt. Lan Wangji's usually cold face turned colder as he grabbed Wei Wuxian's hand tightly, his hand shaking.

"I'd seriously stab you." Jiang Cheng said. "But – " he said, then paused. " – I'd stop before I could strike you." He said and looked away.

Wei Wuxian's eyes went wide, surprised. He then smiled, understanding what Jiang Cheng meant. Lan Wangji's shoulder relaxed as he gently held Wei Wuxian's hand.

"No matter how mad I am, but that anger can't overcome my trust towards you." Jiang Cheng said. "I... once I'd struck you, I'd only feel guilty and awkward if ever we'd meet again, so..." he said, didn't continue.

"Jiang Cheng..." Wei Wuxian said.

Jiang Cheng looked away, his cheeks red. "Well, that's what I think, anyway." He said. "That doesn't mean that's what that guy is thinking, too – " he told them, referring to Lan Xichen.

The two looked at each other, didn't speak anymore. Silence fell on them.

"But – " Wei Wuxian said after a while.

Jiang Cheng looked at him.

Wei Wuxian put his finger on his chin, thinking. "I think... if Lan Zhan's the one who made a mistake, ZeWu-Jun would never hit him... right?" he asked and looked at Lan Wangji.

Lan Wangji nodded in confirmation, his face so serious.

Jiang Cheng frowned. "So what are you saying?" he asked. "That Jin Guangyao doesn't matter that much to that person?" he asked, his forehead knotted.

"That's not it." Wei Wuxian said. "What I'm saying is that – " he looked at him. " – Jin Guangyao may be close to ZeWu-Jun, but not to the point he could forgive him even though he made grave mistakes – " he explained.

The knot on Jiang Cheng's forehead only got deeper. "I really don't get it, nor you – " he told him.

"You won't ever get Wei Ying – " Lan Wangji muttered, his voice low as he coldly gaze at Jiang Cheng.

Jiang Cheng frowned. I don't have any plans to get this airhead, either – he thought.

But, Wei Wuxian continued, didn't notice the two's expressions (since he's really an airhead). "I mean, Jin Guangyao may be ZeWu-Jun's sworn brother, but he's not of the same level as Lan Zhan – " he explained.

"But of course. He's (LWJ) his brother - !" Jiang Cheng told the obvious fact to him.

Wei Wuxian frowned. "Of course I know that!" he said, feeling wronged. "You don't understand – " he told him.

"That's because you're not explaining it well – " Jiang Cheng sighed.

Wei Wuxian's eyes narrowed as he pouted, now really is wronged. "What I'm trying to say is that – "

"Jin Guangyao is important, but not too much to the point brother could overlook his wrong deeds." Lan Wangji said.

The two looked at him.

"Lan Zhan! You really understand me! As expected!" Wei Wuxian happily said, smiling brightly.

"Mn." Lan Wangji nodded, his ears turning red.

Jiang Cheng blew out an exasperated sigh. "What's the point of us talking about this, anyway?" he asked, tired.

Wei Wuxian frowned at him. "Aren't you the one who asked about ZeWu-Jun in the first place?" he asked.

Jiang Cheng grimaced. This guy who always forgets important things remembered the insignificant question I asked earlier? He thought as he mentally shook his head. He only remembers useless things. He added.

"So? What you're trying to say is...?" he asked to finish this topic.

This time, Lan Wangji's the one who answered, seeing the talk really got long. It's almost sunset now.

"Brother never got mad." He said. "He only will if you've wronged, not only one or two but many people, too much." He told him, then paused. "Jin Guangyao may be his sworn brother, but what he did are all wrong. That's why brother, he..." he said.

Jiang Cheng just silently listened, not reacting nor commenting.

"But – " Lan Wangji said. " – if people who are too close to him was the one who did wrong things..." he said.

This time, Jiang Cheng looked at him. "Isn't Jin Guangyao so close to him - ?" he asked.

Wei Wuxian frowned. "As I've said, not that much – " he said.

A vein popped in his forehead. "You shut up." he told him. "I mean, how close should one be to him for him to - ?" he asked.

Wei Wuxian cut him off. "Like family or the most important person in his life - !" he answered, impatient. "Like his other half!" he added. "Geez, you're really such an airhead - !" he told Jiang Cheng and blew out an exasperated sigh.

Dark lines covered Jiang Cheng's whole face as his veins popped in his forehead. Lan Wangji, sensing danger, immediately pulled Wei Wuxian away.

"It's already late. We'll be returning to Gusu – " he said and immediately flew away, Wei Wuxian dangling on his hand.

"... how dare he tell me I'm an airhead when obviously he's the one!!!" Jiang Cheng roared, echoing on the walls of the Lotus Pier.

After an hour, he calmed down. The two's words now starting to enter his mind.

"He only will (get mad) if you've wronged, not only one or two but many people, too much." Lan Wangji said. "Jin Guangyao may be his sworn brother, but what he did are all wrong. That's why brother, he..." he said.

"I mean, Jin Guangyao may be ZeWu-Jun's sworn brother, but he's not of the same level as Lan Zhan – " Wei Wuxian explained.

"But – " Lan Wangji said. " – if people who are too close to him was the one who did wrong things..." he said.

"Like family or he most important person in his life - !" Wei Wuxian said. "Like his other half!" he added.

Jiang Cheng's face went serious. "So only his family or..." he muttered. "I'll never be one of them (family/other half)..." he said and sighed, a bitter smile on his face. "Ah." He said when he realized something. (A/N: like the author rn XD).

Doesn't this (not stabbing their loved ones) make him similar to that man (LXC)? (A/N: yes. It's so freaking obvious and we know it too well. You two are perfect for each other – mmph! *white cloth covered the author's mouth)

When they met again, after he found out Lan Xichen went to Jin Guangyao's grave that's why he disappeared, and not even telling anybody – even his own brother (LWJ), where he went to, his thoughts were confirmed.

Jin Guangyao, even though he's not as important as a family to Lan Xichen, but Lan Xichen still held him deeply in his heart. He's devastated that, not only as his sworn brother but even as the one who struck him (JGY), he was like an invalid when he got back after a week.

And so, he decided not to interact with Lan Xichen anymore. He's always hurting every time he'd see his face, since the bitter thoughts are eating his heart, making him unable to face him, nor even talk to him (LXC).

After all, he already fell in love with him.

But – he thought, his face went serious as he looked at Lan Xichen who's staring at him. I may have fallen for him, but it's not as if he...

He lowered his head, hiding the pain that crossed in his eyes. "Didn't I already tell you?" he asked as he raised his head and looked at in his (LXC) deep but warm eyes.

He took a deep breath to calm his raging and rebelling heart, clearly doesn't want for him to say the words. But...

"We're already strangers." He told him.
