Kei's facial expression was completely different from his usual demeanor. His face was darkened for some reason as he visibly found it difficult to talk about his adoptive mother.
It didn't take long for Kaori and Karen to discern that something was wrong as the latter held Kei's hand fondly and spoke in a slightly hastened tone.
"It's okay, Kei-kun. You don't have to hurry."
Kei steadily glanced at the girl who helped him regain his composure. His left side was soon also held by a familiar warmth as he heard Kaori speaking in an apologetic tone.
"I am sorry for asking something like this…please don't force yourself if you are not ready yet."
Despite being together with the two who genuinely care about him and would never make fun of his emotions, Kei wasn't able to muster the courage.
Enough strength to tell them about that part of his past that he has told no one. Kei was sure that both Karen and Kaori would understand how he feels but he still didn't want to tell them about that day.
Maybe he was insecure?
Kei wasn't certain but thankfully the women around him were sensible enough to not pursue the matter.
Kaori and Karen sat silently with their hand holding the person they love as they gazed upon his changing expressions.
Soon Kei got out of his reverie and spoke in his usual tone while glancing at the two alternately.
"That reminds me, I still have yet to answer your confessions right?"
Suddenly Karen and Kaori's hold on him tightened as they heard him talking about the most breathtaking topic of the evening.
It was to be expected that two maidens in love who professed their romantic feelings for the first time in their lives, would feel nervousness and anxiety upon getting an answer.
"Wait! My heart is not ready yet!"
"Me too! Time please!"
Turning toward the opposite direction after letting go of Kei's hand, both Kaori and Karen covered their face while trying to calm their uncontrollable blush.
As Kei saw their exaggerated reaction he sighed before getting off the couch and kneeling with his face toward the place where he sat.
Taking their hands in his hold, Kei made the ladies look in his direction.
Both of them were reluctant but after glancing at his innocent expression along with his starry expectant eyes, their heart melted in an instant.
He is just too adorable to resist!
"Before I answer, can I ask you both something?"
Karen glanced at Kaori and found the latter doing the same with a slight frown of confusion.
"Yes, Kei-kun. Of course, you can."
Kei took a deep breath upon hearing their affirmation as with a downcast gaze he muttered under his breath with nervousness evidently blended in his tone.
"I-If I say this is my fake appearance and I look completely different, will you both still like me?"
Both of them felt like sighing in defeat as they heard how silly and clueless Kei really is when it comes to relationship matters.
"I don't know whether I was able to convey my feelings earlier or not but Kei, I want to let you know that my liking toward you is not because of your appearance. However, you look, or become I will love you regardless."
Kaori strangely wasn't shy when it comes to telling Kei what she truly feels. She meant exactly what she said and Kei also seemed to understand her emotions behind those words.
"Maybe you won't believe me since I haven't spent much time with you like this human. But Kei, I have seen three of your identities yet my heart fluttered at every one of them. If still, you think, it's your face or appearance I like, then I might need to do something about myself."
Kei shook his head since he was convinced that Karen wasn't a shallow girl to fall for a pretty face otherwise there were many out there who looks far better than him.
After a small pause, he finally resolved his decision as he let go of them and stood straight.
Soon his body started to configure and changes evidently started to occur all over his body.
"Please don't get scared guy… "
Contrary to his thoughts, after witnessing his change both Karen and Kaori's jaws dropped in shock as they gazed upon how Kei actually looks like…
