Chapter 70- Evolution and consequences!
There is a reason why humans, despite being more advanced and carrying higher wisdom than their neighbors were not as powerful to climb the hierarchy and were stuck at the last stage ever since all the domains have been divided.
The reason was Earth’s evolution which was stuck in its first phase and the way things were going it would have taken at least half a millennia before the residents of this blue planet could have attained the necessary change for their betterment.
But from what Vanguard and other national organizations have been sensing these past few months, the otherworldly being is now readily able to cross realms and enter the human domain like they are strolling in a park.
Each ambush takes a hefty amount of resources to subdue and decent casualties get slaughtered the most unfortunate part is that those who get annihilated in the crossfire don’t even get to be remembered by their loved ones after their death.
It was like a helpless growing situation where humans can do nothing but to live on mercy on others. They have to accept the truth that they were weak and any other minute some unexpected being might decide to take over them.
Kaori undoubtedly hated such a life where she could never know what might become the reason for her downfall. Despite wanting to protect every person she holds dear, she knows it was impossible since she herself wasn’t qualified enough to go against most of the beings residing above them.
Such misery. Such desperation undeniably would bring temptation for the proposal Kei brought up.
“I possibly can’t thank you more if you really can bring the earth to its second phase. But tell me truthfully Kei…will it harm you in any way? If yes, then I firmly decline-“
“I will be fine Kaorin. Not like using my essence will do me any harm and this is something I have done in the past as well so you don’t have to particularly stress about that.”
Kaori sighed in relief as she rested her fatigued body on top of Kei. During her contemplation, she didn’t even notice when Kei brought her inside the bedroom. Snuggling closer to him she rested her hand on his chest as she took a relieving whiff of his fragrance.
It always calms her down.
Seeing how relaxed Kaori grew in his embrace, Kei thought to not say the consequences of his actions, but at the end he knew it would be more than disastrous to be silent on this.
“But there are some of the things you have to keep in mind, Kaori.”
Feeling his gentle caress on her head and the rhythmic heartbeat so close to her, made Kaori extremely calm as she only hummed in response without minding the complication of the matter.
“As soon earth begins its second evolution, there will be severe changes in its geographical structure. The catastrophic alteration would be implemented in order to bring out more of the life essence and make this planet compatible to store the maximized mana. In summary, there would be inevitable destruction and thousands of lives would be sacrificed.”
Kei felt her body jolting at his words as she shot her eyes wide in the realization that evolution would not only bring development to humanity but also great damage along the way.
It was understandable that if the earth suddenly begins to expand there would be no space to remain calm and the current peaceful lives would be omitted whatsoever.
But it was equally important for humans to be prepared for this change as well as sooner or later earth will go through its natural fruition, and at that time there would be no warning given beforehand. And what if before that period, some otherworldly beings decide to capture this plain and eradicate humanity altogether?
How much she thought Kaori could only think of one option.
“I…I need to discuss with higher-ups and-“
“Don’t.”
His firm and slightly scolding tone cut off her words as she saw Kei straightening his back and placing her in between his legs as he continued.
“We are talking about a planetary level of modification, Kaori. Once you tell them you are associated with someone capable of bringing planets to their evolution then your peaceful life would be ruined and so your family’s.”
“But how can I not warn them about this change? There are hundreds of measures we can prepare to lessen the potential victims.”
Kei understood her trouble and despite knowing that they couldn’t prepare in any way for this change, he decided to reassure the girl first.
“If it’s about that then I will take care of it. I will warn the higher ups but the rest will be up to them. And about the Beast realm then I have some connections with the tribal chiefs so I will try to halt their assault for the time being as well.”
Kei has lived a very long period in each of the realms in order to gain experience and keep himself entertained. He naturally had some major connections in all five domains and handling this much seemed nothing to sweat about.
He couldn’t save everyone but for his lover’s happiness, he could do at least this much.
‘Hmmm?’
Seeing Kaori’s head leaning down Kei tilted his head in confusion, but soon he realized the true emotion hidden behind her tears.
“…How can I even able to repay….*sniff*”
Kei sighed with a smile as he wiped Kaori’s cheeks as assured the girl in a warm tone.
“Being your boyfriend and soul mate it’s my duty to take care of you. So don’t talk about repayment and stuff, okay?”
Kaori weakly nodded as she felt sudden warmth spreading inside her chest as she thanked the god of fortune who let her be with this man.
But suddenly her shoulders went stiff before she tilted her head and looked at Kei with a chilling smile.
“Talking about soul mate…I somehow could smell an unfamiliar smell on Kei-kun. I wonder if you met Karen before me? And since you met her after a long time…I wonder if you did something with her that you haven’t done with me~”
“Eh? Kaori? I told you not to pry through our connections right? Right?”
Kaori turned deaf ear to his words as she pushed the man onto the bed before unbuttoning her shirt with a frosty smile spread across her lips.
“Fufu…now be a good boy Kei-kun and let me punish you~
