Sidrain sat in a chair in front of the window. As soon as he drew his sword, the house fairies let out a cry and all breathed a sigh of relief, bowing down on the floor together.

“Sidrain En Letaire,” he introduced himself, a hint of confusion in his voice. It was strange to have to introduce himself to these spirits, but they were the ones who lived with Iris after all. He didn’t want to leave a bad impression.

As Sidrain discreetly sheathed his sword, the fairies cowered in fearn. Leiden cautiously met his gaze and said, “Promise. Iris. Sidrain. Help. Spirit. Contract. Debt. Me. Pay. Iris. Medicine. Me. Make. Leiden. Jimyojeong. Iris. Help.”

Debt? What did that mean? Seedrain’s expression softened as he tried to understand the meaning behind Leiden’s words. Leiden flinched, feeling like he had said something wrong. He had no more to add, but he was afraid that this man’s mood was worsening. Leiden fidgeted uncomfortably and added.

“Leiden. Loyal. Help. Please… ” Leiden’s voice was barely above a whisper, yet the house fairies let out a chorus of sobs. Sidrain wasn’t sure what Leiden had just said, but whatever it was, it had struck a chord with the group. He could tell they were pleading for help, but it wasn’t until later that he fully understood the situation.

Sidrain engaged in a heated, incomprehensible discussion with Leiden and the house fairies, trying to piece together the story through Leiden’s broken speech. He eventually came to understand that Iris had made a contract with the spirits for reasons unknown, and was now struggling to pay her debt. He couldn’t remember exactly when the contract had been made, but it was likely during their first hunting trip. The odds were strangely in his favor, but it seemed that Iris had intervened in some way.

Was she worried about him? Was she worried that he wouldn’t win? But why should she be? He was a skilled dragon hunter, a true champion of Testalia. No one could match his prowess in the hunt. But for some reason, Iris had been undoubtedly worried. What could have been the reason?

Sidrain lay next to Iris in the moonlit room, studying her pale complexion. Elena had revealed that she was pregnant, and attributed her condition to her diet of only fruits. Despite her love for meat, Iris had been forced to abstain from it while working, according to the house fairies.

But what was it that worried her so much?

Iris wrinkled her nose as she lay there, her hand resting on the palm of her other hand. “Sied…” she murmured without opening her eyes.

“Yes,” Sidrain replied, his voice close to her ear. He placed his hand on her back and interlaced his fingers with hers, providing a comforting touch. A faint smile appeared on Iris’s face as she seemed to drift off to sleep.

“Iris?” Sidrain called her name softly, and she responded with a soft, “Yes…” as if she was pleased and reassured by his voice in her dream. Sidrain carefully pulled her into his embrace, and she slept peacefully in his arms. Her happiness was evident, and it made his chest tight. The mere fact that he was there, that he responded to her call, brought her happiness in her distant dream. It was a feeling that drove Sidrain crazy.

As she slept, Sidrain couldn’t help but think, “You’re really like a devil, Iris Elenah,” and Iris let out a soft laugh in her sleep, though it was unclear if she understood his words. Sidrain ran his hand through her soft golden hair as he watched the moon shining far away.

He knew he needed to sleep, but the excitement and happiness coursing through his body made it hard to close his eyes. It felt as though he had taken some kind of drug. Though exhaustion weighed heavily on him, this happiness was too precious to let go of, and he didn’t want to give in to sleep and lose it. He just wanted to hold Iris close.

For someone else, this might have been an annoying early morning. A woman being pestered for attention would have likely fallen asleep and been left alone to deal with the early morning, but for Sidrain, it was perfect. He pulled Iris closer and watched the day break, whispering in her ear, “Shall we have a baby?”

He expected an immediate response, but Iris remained silent for a moment. Sidrain picked up that it might have been a serious question.

Iris muttered in a sleepy voice as she nestled into his arms. “Okay…” And then she fell asleep again. Sidrain hugged Iris tightly without realizing it. Whether Iris knew and responded or not, now he was just happy. All the happiness in the world was snuggled up in his arms.
