The most famous divorcee in Letaire was none other than Lisal, the cousin of Sidrain.

Lisal, the Duchess of Resena. There were often people who didn’t realize she was a woman, but she was indeed a woman—a woman who, had she not been born as one, would have become the queen consort and the ruler of the kingdom, rumors said. She was a duchess, a general, and an idol of the court ladies. As a master of the dark arts, she had been married three times, and each time her choice of partner was vastly different. The first was a poet of extraordinary beauty, with whom she amicably parted ways and maintains a friendly relationship to this day. The second was a duke, a political alliance. And the third was the king of another country. With the ability to conquer a kingdom, had Sidrain ruled, she would have been the one to conquer it. She conquered her husband’s realm, severed his head, and presented the kingdom to her cousin, Sidrain, who was also her brother-in-law. Of course, she secured her own gains along the way.

How did the relationship between this sorceress and Queen Rosemary unfold?

Certainly, it was the worst of relationships.

“What brings this old hag here?” Lisal asked, dismounting from her clanking armor as she gazed at the queen who had come to greet her. Of course, by protocol and courtesy, it was appropriate for the queen, who was her cousin and sister-in-law, to come out to welcome her after the war. However, they had never done so before, and Lisal had never expected it. Honestly, she wished this insane cousin of hers would stay out of her life.

“You seem unusually graceful today,” Scarlet, one of Lisal’s subordinates and a court lady, remarked.

Lisal’s retinue was known for its mixture of men and women. She didn’t discriminate much when it came to her subordinates, and her army was frankly a bit chaotic. Nevertheless, their combat abilities were unmatched, mainly due to Lisal’s personal charisma.

“Grace has nothing to do with it.”

“Oh, you said beauty is a matter of taste, didn’t you?”

Lisal appreciated beauty. She had refined tastes, but since she only saw soldiers and subordinates day in and day out, she had become more focused on allure. That’s why she found the queen’s appearance appealing. Appearance. And the substance beneath it was truly the worst. Lisal had once openly remarked that the queen had saved her life thanks to her looks.

Lisal glanced briefly at Rosemary. The queen, who usually roamed about with soldiers, had inexplicably appeared with her maids and court ladies, and she looked tidy, perhaps due to her attire, which seemed more proper than usual.

With a clanging sound, Lisal approached, and the queen gracefully lowered her eyes in accordance with protocol.

“Welcome, Your Grace,” the queen said, bowing gracefully with a gentle smile.

Why is she so courageous all of a sudden?

Could it be that you’re planning to strike me from behind?

Lisal furrowed her brows. As she briefly glanced at Scarlet, who caught her gaze, Scarlet seemed uneasy and rolled her eyes, although she still performed a proper bow to the queen.

“As an envoy of the king, I warmly welcome Your Grace’s victory,” the queen said, bowing humbly while maintaining her serene smile.

So, why are you so courageous all of a sudden?

Little did they know, hidden beneath the dress, was there a gun, perhaps? This thought crossed not only Lisal’s mind but also the minds of all the knights in the vicinity. Despite residing in Sydrain’s kingdom, Lisal’s subordinates regarded her as their true ruler. They remained on high alert, closely observing the actions of the queen.

Elena suppressed her laughter. It was a natural situation, but Lisal’s overt wariness appeared amusing to her.

Iris, on the other hand, became depressed as she became overwhelmed by Lisal’s fierce and obvious vigilance. She didn’t know what to do. She decided to do her best to conclude this reception. All she wanted was to be done with this terrifying duchess and never have to encounter her again.

She discreetly sighed and cautiously walked beside Lisal.

Why is she staggering like that? Has she already succumbed to dementia at such a young age? Is she truly going mad? What happened? Why is she like this?

As much as she despised her, the queen was undeniably beautiful. But when the thought crossed Lisal’s mind that perhaps the queen had gone mad, her heart couldn’t find any joy. She was merely a twenty-three-year-old child. In today’s world, one might argue that twenty-three is not young, but Rosemary was undoubtedly still a young girl. Her father, Viscount Samain, grew to despise Rosemary deeply after her birth resulted in her mother’s death due to complications. While he treated women as mere commodities and engaged in promiscuity, he showed no affection to his own daughter and harbored only resentment. It was ironic that Rosemary bore the closest resemblance to her father, Samain. Both in appearance and personality, she mirrored him. Samain was notorious for his perversions, and Rosemary was no less.

Education encompasses more than just academics; it includes moral upbringing. Without the attention of parents, moral education is easily neglected. Rosemary was born with inherent problems, and those issues flourished under her father’s neglect.

Could she really be going insane?

It would be quite problematic if the queen of a kingdom truly lost her sanity.
