Vanessa retrieved the inhibitor from her pocket and injected it into Yanna. The pressure around Yanna slowly faded, and her breathing began to slow down.

Once they regained their strength, Yanna took the bag.

"Are you feeling better now?" Vanessa asked, noticing how much Yanna was sweating after taking the inhibitor.

"Don't worry, I'm fine now. How about you?"

"I'm fine," Vanessa replied.

Yanna nodded, holding Vanessa's hand and leading her to the next location.

Vanessa looked at their joined hands and didn't let go. She felt happy, although she knew that most of her fans would not approve.

It was already past noon when they found the second bag.

"Do you want to rest first?" Yanna asked.

"No, let's go back to our Turtle shack now. We can continue tomorrow morning before sunrise."

"Alright," Yanna agreed.

On their way back, Yanna and Vanessa managed to hunt a white-tailed deer, which excited Yanna. After returning to the Turtle Shack in the afternoon, they checked inside and outside to ensure no one had come.

"Vanes, can you take care of these things? I'm going to prepare our dinner," Yanna requested.

Yanna put the bags inside and quickly went to skin the deer with her knife. She couldn't wait to cook the meat since they mostly ate vegetables, fruit, and fish.

Vanessa nodded, entered the shack, and opened the bags. She organized their findings and checked how many points they had earned. Satisfied with their progress, she wanted to share the good news with Yanna. However, she noticed Yanna was still busy outside.

Instead of disturbing Yanna, she decided to observe a little rabbit that they had caught. It was a tough decision since both she and Yanna liked the rabbit, but they couldn't keep it as a pet. They had agreed to let it go since it was better for the rabbit to be in its natural habitat.

As she watched the rabbit run away, Vanessa felt a twinge of emotion. She stared at the spot where the rabbit had disappeared for a while and let out a sigh.

"Did you let it go?" Yanna asked.

"Yeah, we can't take care of it right now anyway," Vanessa replied.

"You did the right thing. We had a great time with it, and nature is its home," Yanna reassured her.

"I thought you would be sad. You always played with it," Vanessa said.

"I am sad. It was a new experience for me. I never thought I would have a pet, even for a short while. But we can't take care of another life yet, and we will leave sooner or later. We can't get too attached," Yanna explained.

Vanessa, who felt a mix of sadness and curiosity, listened intently to what Yanna was saying. She turned her head to meet Yanna's gaze and realized that Yanna's words held no deeper meaning.

'She said we can't take care of another life yet. Does that mean we can in the future? Wait, does she have feelings for me? Should I ask? No, what if she doesn't feel the same way? Besides, I'm the omega. Shouldn't it be the alpha who takes the initiative in such situations?' Vanessa wondered silently.

Yanna sensed Vanessa's inner turmoil but decided to let her be and focused on carving the deer.

Yanna prepared the seasonings and made steaks from the meat. By the time she finished cooking, it was already dark.

Yanna looked around the shack for Vanessa and found her sleeping inside. Yanna sat beside her and gazed at her face.

Yanna noticed that her heartbeat was fast, which made her wonder if she was unwell. It was not impossible considering the events of the day. Yanna had witnessed how terrifying it was for her to almost lose control and the instinct of alphas to mark omegas during estrus. It scared her, as she didn't want to bring harm to Vanessa.

Vanessa was the first person Yanna had met in this world, and she didn't want to jeopardize their relationship. She resolved to learn how to control her pheromones and maintain some distance from Vanessa for both of their sakes.

As Yanna absentmindedly traced Vanessa's face, from her forehead to her eyes, down to her nose and lips, her finger lingered on Vanessa's lips. She remembered the sensation of Vanessa kissing and biting her neck, causing her face to redden. Yanna quickly retrieved her hand and stood up, not sure what was happening to her, and walked out of the shack.

Just as Yanna left, Vanessa slowly opened her eyes, gazing at Yanna's retreating figure. She had been awake when Yanna entered but pretended to sleep. Though she wasn't sure what Yanna was thinking, Vanessa was certain that she had stirred something within Yanna, even if only briefly. This realization was an accomplishment for Vanessa, as she had doubted her charm. Every time they got close, it always seemed like it was only her who felt affected.

Yanna was so mature and dependable, which made Vanessa feel like a child in her presence. But no matter how wonderful a person may be, they always have vulnerabilities.

She got up and went outside but didn't see Yanna. She froze and remembered the times when her sister had left her. She took a deep breath and reminded herself that Yanna is different.

Just as she went around, Vanessa saw Yanna gracefully emerge from the glistening lake. Yanna's slender figure showcased the effortless fluidity of her movements, leaving a trail of sparkling droplets in her path. Vanessa was enchanted not only by Yanna's physical beauty but also by her inner radiance that seemed to illuminate her surroundings. Her heart skipped a beat as Yanna effortlessly brushed her wet hair back, revealing a glimpse of her captivating eyes.

When Vanessa regained her composure, she found Yanna already standing in front of her.

"You didn't wake me up," Vanessa remarked.

"I wanted to, but you sleep so well. You must be tired," Yanna replied, trying to act nonchalant. However, her red ears gave away her true emotions.

Vanessa couldn't help but smirk as she noticed Yanna's telltale sign.

'She's good at acting,' Vanessa thought to herself.

"Anyway, it's time for you to take a bath now. I'll stay here to keep watch, and we can have dinner later," Yanna continued, attempting to change the subject.

Vanessa chose not to expose her and simply followed Yanna's lead. However,

she made a mental note of how adorable Yanna looked while trying to deceive her.
