Chapter 11.1 - About Hai Ting 1 Part 1

Yang Han said, “Then you have to hide well. Don’t let the gym teacher catch you or you’ll have to do sit-ups as a warning.”

Xu Jia titled her head and said, “As they said, for the sake of beauty, why fear hardship and danger?”

Yang Han: “……”

She said, “Good luck analyzing the literature, I believe in you.”

Being reminded of this tragedy, Xu Jia whined, “Ugh.”

Unable to stay idle, Xu Jia pulled Yang Han along to run around the tracks as her strange outfit attracted a lot of attention. Xu Jia had a medium build, but just like any girls this age, she wore whatever she liked and couldn’t care less about the meaning behind the stares she received. As long as she thought it looked good, then it looked good.

Xu Jia was a ‘younger gong’ enthusiast. She poured out all sorts of her summed up experiences which included different types of gong and shou dynamic, desperately wanting to pull Yang Han into the same squad and happily waving the ‘younger gong’ flag together.

When they passed by the corner of the tracks, Yang Han saw Liu Zuo Ye by chance.

She was standing on the far side of the basketball court with her frequent companions, watching the boys play basketball. The girls around her huddled close together, giving support to the boys glistening with sweat.

She was leaning against the basketball hoop next to her, watching on indifferently without saying anything.

Suddenly, the basketball rolled to her feet followed by a taller boy calling out to her. Liu Zuo Ye slowly picked up the basketball by her feet, raised her hand and threw it.

It went in the basketball hoop steadily.

Yang Han: “……”

The boys blew a few whistles and cheered for a while. Liu Zuo Ye continued to watch from the side.

The rest of Xu Jia’s words were no longer absorbed by Yang Han. She thought to herself, if this person really came to her looking for trouble, what would be the fastest way for her to escape.

Yang Han poked Xu Jia’s shoulder a little, wanting to snap her out of her daze, but suddenly she let out a shriek.

Xu Jia took a step back to the side, turned her head around and looked at the guy who just brushed past them. “What are you doing!”

Yang Han’s attention was drawn over as she heard Xu Jia chastise the boy across them. The two male classmates standing beside him laughed cheekily as if they were watching a show.

Yang Han frowned as she saw the boy who raised his hand earlier on shrug his shoulders. He had two letters carved into his hair that was shaved all the way up to his temples and a flowery tattoo at the back of his neck.

At one glance, Yang Han knew this man was far from being someone decent. It wasn’t a discrimination against tattoos or this type of hairstyle, but this kind of image was forbidden by the school.

He chuckled at first then laughed frivolously, “I didn’t mean to do it!”

The other three people beside him slung their arms around each other’s shoulders and laughed together. Xu Jia’s face was red, up to her the tips of her ears too. Yang Han asked, “What’s wrong?”

Xu Jia said through gritted teeth, “He pinched me…”

Her hand was clutching the hems of her shorts near her hip area as she rubbed her fingers together angrily and awkwardly.

The tattooed man laughed again and said, “Oops, I accidentally touched it!”

His fox and dog-like friends coaxed further, “Now, it’s just an accidental physical contact. Don’t be so sensitive or no one would dare to pass by you in the future.”

People around them heard the commotion and looked over in their direction. Xu Jia’s ears turned redder at that. She tugged at the hems of her shorts and dragged Yang Han by her arm to get out of this place quickly.

Yang Han slowly took her hand off and suddenly said to the boy, “Aren’t you ashamed?”

The laughter ceased for a moment and the boy was no longer smiling. He twisted his eyebrows and asked, “What did you say.”

Yang Han said it again word for word. “I said, aren’t you ashamed?”

Xu Jia widened her eyes, tugging on her arm and called out, “Yang Yang…”

The tattooed man who was the head of the group turned irritable all of a sudden. “Did I touch you just now? This is none of your damned business.”

Yang Han scoffed, “Didn’t you say you accidentally rubbed against her instead?”

He replied firmly, “Who the hell told you ‘touching’ is always intentional? I only accidentally touched it.”

His friends beside him held him back and advised, “Forget it, ge. Don’t waste time getting mad over these unreasonable brats…”

Xu Jia looked at Yang Han next to her in awe.

Yang Han was a bit taller than her, but in front of these four boys who were all close to 180cm, she appeared a little weak instead. Yet, she still carried an aura on her that could not be easily underestimated or taken lightly.

Yang Han said to them, “Who exactly are the unreasonable ones here? Are you guys selectively blind?”

The three boys blinked and were about to speak when their big brother couldn’t stand it anymore and stepped forward, yelling at her, “You bitch, whatever did my brothers say about you now?”

As if they suffered a lot and were enduring it with a generous heart, the three of them shrugged their shoulders, accepting the tattooed man’s behavior as a righteous act against the injustice they faced.

The tattooed man pointed at Xu Jia and said, “Birds of a feather truly do flock together. The two of you are exactly the same, so fucking cheap. Isn’t she asking for others to look at her with the way she dressed up? Even if someone touched her, it would be entirely her fault, right?”

Yang Han had never argued with anyone this fiercely before nor did she expect to hear such words coming out of her peers from the same school. All the eyes around them had been drawn over by the argument as they watched the fire burn across the river.

Yang Han’s whole body was pumped with adrenaline laced with anger.

The boy spat out another sentence instead, “Who are putting on a show for by being angry? Selling yourself yet trying to act noble1? You really thought of yourself as a modern day chaste woman, huh.”

All of them clicked their tongues, turned their heads and walked away.

The crowd of onlookers grew bigger and bigger with different voices whispering among themselves.

Shang Xue, Fang Jia and Lu Yue Ming heard about it and rushed over. Shang Xue was still confusedly asking, ‘what’s wrong’.

Lu Yue Ming frowned a little, then squeezed through the crowd to get to Yang Han’s side. He glanced at the four boys from a different class and asked her with concern, “Did something happen?”

With a basketball in hand, Liu Zuo Ye paced over as well, watching the scene away from the crowd.

Xu Jia held on to Yang Han tightly and hurriedly shook her head, “It’s okay, Xiao Lu…”

Yang Han clenched her fist so tightly that her fingers almost dug through the flesh on her hand.

His last words completely infuriated her.

It was much stronger than the emotions stirred up by any statements she had heard before.

Yang Han suddenly rushed forward, grabbed the tattooed man’s arm and pulled it backwards violently, roaring, “Come back here and apologize to her!”

Lu Yue Ming and Xu Jia were stunned.

She used too much strength that her nails accidentally scratched the tattooed man’s skin. He let out a hiss, turned around angrily and slapped Yang Han.

“What the fuck is wrong with you!”

This slap was extremely crisp, causing everyone present to fall into a state of confusion.

Yang Han inclined her head sideways, subconsciously raising her arms to block. Lu Yue Ming rushed forward and grabbed the boy’s hand, putting a stop to his next move. “What are you doing!”

Anger rushed to his head and the tattooed man was still cursing non-stop. However, girls were complicating to start something with, so he turned all the fury in him towards Lu Yue Ming.

""

He swung a heavy punch out, but before it could land on anything, a basketball suddenly flew towards his face with extreme precision. The strength was very objective too.

He covered his nose and cursed, “Fuck!”

A lazy female voice came from the crowd—

“Sorry, my hands slipped.”

The fox and dog-like friends gathered around to defend their boss while Fang Jia and Shang Xue also stood behind Yang Han and Xu Jia.

It was truly an extremely messy scene.
