Disbelief of Sharkun, Admiral of the Louria Kingdom

Previous Chapter: Short Story Series 1, Part 1: Japan and the Quila Kingdom

Sharkun, Admiral of the Eastern Conquest Navy, Louria Kingdom

Explosions, fires, and screams reverberate within the scene of the battle.

The Japanese fleet, which had easily fended off the waves of Wyvern Knights from the Louria Kingdom, now turned its overwhelmingly strong fangs on the Lourian navy.

For almost every loud bang that resounded across the ocean, a friendly warship would burst into flames and sink.

Fuck!! You monsters!!!

At this rate, the Louria Kingdom’s main fleet of 4400 warships and 140,000 men would all be annihilated.

“Is this the end…”

When he returns to his country, he’ll be labeled as incompetent and then sentenced to death. However, despite that, he decided to accept it to save much of his men.

“All forces, withdraw! I repeat. All forces, withdraw!”

The order to withdraw was passed down to all allied troops via magic communications.

The flagship Sharkun is on was starting to turn when he was suddenly beset by a sensation of something pushing against him. When he regained consciousness as he swallowed seawater, the scene of his flagship splitting in two and sinking unfolded before his eyes.

As the Admiral of the Louria Kingdom Eastern Conquest Navy, Sharkun, floats in the ocean, he watches his allies withdraw from the scene.

As soon as they had started retreating, it seemed that the enemy had stopped their attacks, and by the time the allied fleet had long retreated, they were picking up survivors from the sea. Since I am an admiral, they’ll likely take me to be tortured, and once they have gotten information from me, they will have me executed to boost the morale of their troops. That’s how it’s done in my country. It would have probably been easier for me if I had just withdrawn right away and faced the death sentence.

“What the hell… However…”

I was won over by curiosity. What kind of country is Japan like; the country that had cornered our navy? What kind of weapons do they use? If I will be lucky, I may be able to see one end of it for myself.

Sharkun was rescued by a colossal ship that came close.

Weapons still carried by Sharkun and other soldiers were confiscated, then they were made to sit on the ship’s deck. Standing in front of them were men they thought to be soldiers of Japan, looking over them as if they were examining them.

It seems that they have transported the wounded to some other place and that they were sorting out those who they will spare and who they will kill.

“Is there a person of leadership among you?”

One enemy soldier spoke up.

All the allied soldiers simultaneously cast their glances on Sharkun.

I guess I couldn’t hide any longer…

“I was in command. I am Admiral Sharkun, Louria Kingdom Eastern Conquest Navy.”

The enemy soldier’s eyes widened.

“Well then, please come this way.”

Sharkun, accompanied by other escort soldiers, went inside the ship. It’s common sense for sunlight to not shine into the interior of a ship, but this ship’s interior was pleasant and as bright as midday. I had no doubts that Louria’s warships were made from special technologies, but I finally realized that this was a magic ship.

We went into a room and inside a person was sitting who seemed to be the commander of the Japanese navy. The person went towards Sharkun and greeted him with a salute.

“I never imagined that I would be able to meet the great admiral of that large fleet. In an actual war, we would treat you as a prisoner of war, but the Japanese government considers you armed insurgents. I cannot say at this point how you will be treated, but I can guarantee your safety up until you have been transferred to Japan.”

Sharkun was relieved knowing that he won’t be subjected to torture in the meantime.

“Your country is so strong… To be able to possess a magic battleship such as this… I recall that superpowers don’t sell arms to countries outside the civilized areas. Where in this world did you manage to purchase this?”

Sharkun thought that the ship was purchased from a superpower. A superpower opposing the Parpaldia Empire may have sold it to them to use in a proxy war.

“Hm? This destroyer was manufactured in our country. Besides, I don’t understand what you mean by “magic battleship”… However, I’m sure there are other countries in this world who have ships like this destroyer.”

“Balderdash! There’s no way a country from outside the civilized areas could manufacture such a ship!”

“If you say so… Well, you will soon be transferred to our country. Once you have seen our country with your own eyes, please do make your judgment then.”

Sharkun still had much to ask, but his questions were forcibly stopped.

Someday later, a partial except the best-selling book in the Rodenius continent, War Chronicles of the King of the Sea

Upon being transferred to Japan, the first sight that greeted me was a conglomeration of high-rise buildings penetrating the heavens. Running along with structures that seemed they were not made by men and far eclipsing those from the superpowers were high-speed vehicles called “highway buses” that ran overwhelmingly faster than a horse’s full speed. Despite running at such high speeds, the shaking was limited and it was stupendously pleasant to ride on.

I was eventually admitted into an internment camp. The camps were nothing like those of the Louria Kingdom. The room was clean and furnished with air-conditioning. This wasn’t just special accommodations for an admiral like me, the other crew members were living in similar rooms. The meals were excellent and for a truly developed country like them, it was known for them to treat their prisoners of war with the utmost gentlemanliness.

I was relieved to hear that torture was prohibited by their laws, and upon gathering information on this country’s military power, I realized the truth that we have recklessly challenged them to a fight.

This country, Japan, will soon emerge into this world. It is sufficiently imaginable that when that time comes, they will collide with this world’s common sense and its established superpowers.

This world’s ignorance will become its tragedy by attacking this country.

The conflict between the Louria Kingdom and Japan concluded and after I was questioned numerous times, I was released from internment.

I thanked the gods many times over for this life and for the miracle of being able to live and go home.

The Louria Kingdom Navy Admiral, Sharkun, went home after the conflict with Japan had concluded, and in his later years, he had made a name for himself by being the central figure in establishing a strong naval fleet.
