“”””Migyaaaa! MIGYAAAAAAAAA!”””

In the continuous drizzling rain.

Across the meadow that was usually used as a magic training ground, the three-eyed demons, Topopoloks, were staring at me from the edge of the forest.

They were belligerent, dangerous creatures that would attack people.

As far as I noticed, there were probably a lot more than a hundred of them.

There might be many more of them in the deeper part of the forest.

Their cries were so loud, and it drown out the sound of the rain.

Beyond the gray cloud, the sun rose, steadily lighting up the surrounding area. And along with that, rose the feeling of hopelessness that I felt after noticing the difference in power.

On one side, me, alone.

Donning the tattered reaper wolf outfit I received from my mentor, which is at the end of its lifespan. I stood with the mansion on my back. My body was still covered with mud and blood.
…… I resolutely glared back at the third-eyed monsters.

I won’t let anyone pass this point.

Behind me, there was someone that recognized me as a friend.

Even for a dirty vagabond like me. There is something that I wanted to protect.

I don’t care if your burrow were destroyed or something.

I would not let it slip if you’re going to hurt something I care about.

…… Prepare yourself.

“MIGYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!”

A being that was slightly larger and with a longer horn than the other, perhaps the leader of the group, cried.

“””Migyaaaaaaaaa!”””

Then, after a moment of silence, the other Topopoloks joined in and screamed in unison.

And they started running toward me.

The herd that roared while approached me was like a tsunami wave.

But I should never get intimidated.

First of all, I need to be the one that initiate!

Full power [Body Strengthening].

Grab a handful of dirt from the ground and [Solidification].

Then, [Stone Throwing].

…… Gyun-!

“Migyaa ……!?”

Leaving the sound behind, the gravel released by me pierced and killed the long-horned Topopolok and several others that were in its line of fire earlier.

Without a delay, I released [Intimidation] toward the surrounding area.

“Mi-Migya!?”
“Migyagyagya-!?”
“Miimigya! Migyaaa!!”

Topopoloks that could not withstand my [Intimidation] pressure become confused and stop their footsteps.

However, the momentum of the stampede-level swarm couldn’t be halted with just this.
Leaping over the confused Topopoloks and trampling them, the rest of the horde pressed forward.

Now, from here is the actual battle!

I initiated a barrage of stones with [Infinite Pebbles].

I continued to kill the approaching Topopoloks from left to right, as if cutting through them.

The gravel can penetrate and kill several of them at once, so it is reasonably efficient.

As long as my feet keep touching the ground, there was no worry about running out of ammunition.

With a bit more training, I might become a human machine gun!

Long live the world of swords and magic!

<But, Emmy! Because of the muddy conditions caused by the rain, extra mana is being consumed for [Solidification]! This situation won’t last forever!>

Oops, here comes the unexpected weakness of [Infinite Pebbles]!

It is weak against rain!

Sorry, a quick revision! There is a limited ammo! When I run out of mana, I will run out of ammo!

<If we don’t keep replenishing our mana, we won’t be able to stop that swarm!>

Even if I was told to replenish my ma-….!?

“Migyaagh!!”

Suddenly, one Topopolok jumped at me from a blind spot!

This guy …… a Topopolok Assassin!

It erased its presence and moved ahead of the herd!

But, as usual, you are so stupid!

What’s the point of having your presence erased if you screamed before attacking?

Just like last time, I grabbed the Topopolok Assassin by the neck as it leaps toward me. Grabbed its neck, squeezed it, and then finish it off.

In the slightest interval just now, the wave of Topopoloks has advanced forward a little.

[Infinite Pebbles], continue.

My magic power is decreasing!

And somehow I was getting hungry!

<Of course that would happen. You’re consuming so much magic at such a rapid rate, it’s only natural that you’re hungry!>

…… Hmmm?

So, Omake-sama does that means…

If I get full, will my magic power be restored?

<Yes! It may take some time! But I think Emmy can digest and absorb magic power much faster than normal people!>

I see?

I see, I see…

I glanced at the corpse of the Topopolok Assassin that lies around my feet.

Replenishing mana. It is possible.

From all over the place.

*slurp*

Ah, I’m drooling.

***

A few minutes after the battle between Emmy and Topopolok Stampede began.

At this late stage, the Topopoloks at the front were terrified of the little black-furred human that opposed them.

Their brethren, who had been alive for so long, were easily killed by the rocks released by the human. And the ground was covered with their corpses.

Afraid. I want to run away.

That was their honest feeling.

But their big boss at the back of the herd would not allow such weakness.

Although Topopoloks did not speak like humans, they were highly intelligent and were social creatures.

The order from their superior must be heard. And betrayal was not a choice.

The boss’ cry of “Go ahead! Kill!” echoed through the battlefield.

There was no turning back.

Resolve oneself and glare back at the black human.

Then, all of a sudden, that human began to move differently from before.

The human, who had been moving both arms at blinding speeds and throwing pebbles. She changed to releasing pebbles with one arm, but her other hand picked up something.

“””!!!!!!!!!!”””

When the Topopoloks saw this, they were shaken.

It was the corpse of the hero Topopolok who moved first in a surprise attack to kill the black human.

The march of Topopolok came to an unexpected halt.

…… And then they shuddered.

Snap, crunch, munch munch. …… Gulp.

On the temporarily quiet battlefield, only the sound of chewing mixed with the falling rain echoed.

Topopolok’s acute hearing picked up the sound, something they didn’t want to hear, perfectly.

The sound of a black human biting, wolfing down the remaining of their hero.

Humans were a race filled with wisdom. A race that could use magic. A race to be wary of.

But, if you eat their flesh, you would become stronger. And their meat was delicious.

That was the information about the human race that the elders of the flock had once imparted to the young Topopoloks.

And inside that passed down knowledge, there was no mention that human could be such terrifying monsters.

They had not been taught that humans were capable of such fierce behavior.

Our village was buried in the soil, flooded by water, and it has perished.

From now on, we will go to the world of humans. And we will make it our home.

The humans along the way, we will outnumber them and kill them. All-you-can-eat humans!

The Topopoloks jumped for joy when they heard this from the big boss before the march.

Inside their minds, humans were nothing more than prey.

Never in their imagination that they would be the one getting hunted.

Time passed, about 10 seconds.

In no time, the black human has finished devouring the hero. And the remain was tossed carelessly.

And then.

“…… Not ENOUGH!!!!!!!”

She let out such a cry and her body disappeared in an instant.

No, she moved so fast, their eyes couldn’t follow her.

Before they knew it, the black human was standing right in front of them.

…… It was the beginning of a new nightmare.

The black human swung her right arm, then she swung her left arm.

And just like that, the heads of their brethren flew around the place.

Muddy water splashed, blood danced, and heads trashed.

In the blink of an eye, all the lives around the black human were reaped, and there were nothing more than corpses around.

The black human held two of their slain brethren in her right arm, two in her left arm, and one in her mouth.

Once again, she moved in an instant.

She moved back to the position she was before.
At the front of a human nest, that the black human seemed to be guarding.

There, without using her hand, the black human dexterously chewed the fallen brethren in her mouth. She then resumed shooting with both of her arms again.

Once again, at a tremendous rate, the brothers on the front line began to be killed.

No more.

No more!

No moreeee!!!!

Fear gripped the thoughts of the Topopoloks’ herd.

Orders from the big boss? Don’t care!

That human is a monster!

There’s no way we can compete with that kind of monster!

One after another, the Topopoloks begin to run backwards toward the forest.

Small rocks quickly pierced those who exerted up the courage to fight the human, and they were hunted to death.

Just a small black human, alone, against an uncountable herd of Topopoloks.

By all accounts, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that Topopolok should have won this battle.

Yet, it was the little human who won the battle, and it was the flock of Topopoloks who lost.

Yes, the flock of Topopoloks lost.

They lost.

The Topopoloks’ …… ‘flock.’

… However, “she” has not given up on victory yet.

Crushing the feeble comrades who tried to retreat back to the forest under her enormous feet, “she” slowly advanced forward.

“She” has a dream. A dream of creating a prosperous and comfortable paradise, a new village.

“She” has determination. The will after having reigned as the strongest member of the group for many years.

“She” has responsibility. “She” was responsible as the leader of the group, and as the one who brought her comrades to this battlefield.

And,

Above all.

“She” has…

Thud!!

The battlefield was devoid of small fries,

In front of Emmy, that was holding corpses in her hand, that tried hard to recover her mana.

There stands a Topopolok with a mottled pattern. It was as big as some small cabin. A big, no, a colossal Topopolok.

Author Notes:
Just a little additional information.
Certainly, the sheer numbers of this stampede pose a threat. However, if a few intermediate-level mages were present, they could somehow deal with them using wide-area spells. Burning them, for example.
Nevertheless, a nearly 7-year-old girl using mainly the [Stone Throwing] spell to repel the stampede is truly remarkable.

You did well, Emmy.
The boss’ battle is up next.
Hang in there for one final push!
