Chapter 8: Into a happy dream with Omake-sama

In the space above the palm of my hand, where there should have been nothing before, a small fireball is generated.
The fireball lights up the dead leaves and tree branches that have had [dehydration] applied in advance, and begins to make a crackling sound.
I stabbed the meat of the naked nasty rat that I had hunted onto my favorite sharp and long stone over the fire, and waited for it to bake.
Looking up at the cloudless, purple sky getting darker and darker, beautiful stars, unthinkable in the previous life, are beginning to twinkle.
The air is clean, isn't it?
Enjoying the faint music of insects in the surrounding grasses, I quietly watch the flickering bonfire.
Although life in this world is often difficult, times like these are not bad.
I was able to survive another day.
Soaking in this satisfaction masks the anxieties of tomorrow while I wait for the meat to bake.
This is my base in the Naso Forest, the clearing containing Kaliva Great Tree.
Kaliva Great Tree is a massive tree that bears acorn-like nuts in the fall.
I am sleeping in one of the abundant caves dotting its trunk, which itself is wide enough that ten adults could not manage to hold hands around it.
Because it is a vacant cave, reachable only after climbing the trunk to some extent, it is prime real estate that avoids the beasts that crawl on the ground, has a good view, and is reasonably wide and warm.
When I found this cave, there was a big owl-like occupant, but it’s been killed already, so this is my house.
He was delicious…
By the way, the [ignition] I used earlier is one of the few magics I can activate.
Using magical power, it causes a chemical reaction to generate a small fireball... One of the types of magic called life magic.
Other than [ignition], the magic that I can use is [dehydration], which forces out the moisture in something like dead leaves, and [condensation], which collects water in the air to create drinking water.
I think that [body strengthening] and [presence concealment] are also types of magic but...
For humans in this world, they don’t seem to be classified as such.
Well~, it's just a classification decided by humans, and since the basis of these techniques is to manipulate magical power, in the end, I don’t think it’s a problem to call them the same.
