Raka let out a tired breath as all they search parties were called back to the base.

The base being the same town which had been run over by the 'rat tide' a few days ago.

He was not sure how safe the town was, considering how easily the mutant rats climbed over it and tore through any inhabitants living in here without stopping for so much as a moment.

He knew about it. About all the greasily details.

Because he was here when the rate tide came.

The horror of of that sight still gave him nightmares and he was not sure who the lucky ones were. The ones who died a quick death. Or the ones who had to live in this nightmare their world has now become.

The only reason they survived the rat tide was because of Ashok's early warning and Rahul's plan of crossing the bridge breaking it.

But despite the fact that Ashok had warned them about the upcoming danger, he himself was caught in the rat tide and went missing soon after that.

He had no idea if Ashok survived, but he knew that Rahul won't just let them go without at least searching for him.

Therefor, their leader had sent six searching parties consisting of five people each in order to search for his missing brother.

Most people in the camp were still rattled by the rat tide and wanted to get out of this area as quickly as possible but this one time Rahul put his foot down and gave the order that they won't move until they found Ashok or at least his corpse.

Raka himself didn't knew what he felt about his former team captain.

True, he was afraid of Ashok. No, scratch that. He was terrified of Ashok. Especially when he gained that weird evolution and started eating those monsters.

The first time he saw Ashok eating a mutant beast, he was so terrified that he almost pissed himself, but then Ashok caught up to him and gently explained that no, he would not eat him.

Not that he trult believed his words.

But still, Ashok was a good team caption. Despite the fact that Tribhuwan, Asha and Kesav died under his leadership, he knew that Ashok cared for his teammates.

And loath as he was to admit it, they only survived the rat tide because of Ashok's early warning so he owed his life to him as well.

That is why he didn't complain for a single moment when the order to search was given.

But now that the order to search had been cancelled, he didn't knew what to think.

"Do you think they found his dead body?" he asked to his teammate casually.

"Don't know. Don't care. But if those fucking rats were as scary as you told us, then it would better for us to leave this place as soon as possible."

"But didn't Rahul said that those rats won't come back here." He enquired and his team mate spat on the ground.

"As if. If our leader is so informed about everything then how the hell he lose his own brother. He just wants to search for his brother and is giving such stupid excuses because of that. Not that I condone him searching for his brother. But if he want to do it, then he should find a way to do it without risking our lives."

Raka just frowned at the blatant disrespect his team mates were showing to their leader.

'Did the news about the rat tide scare them that much or are they really just that ungrateful.' He thought ruefully. But then again, after the things he had done ever since the start of the apocalypse, it's not like he had any moral standing either.

'If they counted the sins of everybody in the whole camp, then I would probably be among the top ten if not the top three.' He thought ruefully with a sad smile. Not that his teammates could see his expressions beneath that helmet.

'Do not blame yourself Raka. The apocalypse truly brought out the worst in all of us.' The gentle voice of his AI rang in his mind and he smiled fondly at her words.

Riya was probably the only reason he was still sane and not turned into a suicidal maniac.

She was probably the only one who could still forgive him after all his transgressions.

He shook his head and stopped his line of thoughts at once. That line of thought only lead to more guilt and self-blame. Not something that will be of any benefit to him at the moment.

After half an hour, he and his team mates finally reached back to the base and he could see that most of the people here had already finished packing their belongings in large bags or inside their spatial rings.

He told his team mates to dismiss and went to report directly to their leader.

'And tell him about the growing discontent among his subordinates.' He thought with a bitter smile.

He went to the highest floor of the largest building in the town where Rahul's office resided and entered after giving his weapons and spatial ring to the guards outside the door.

Not that he would be able to harm a hair of Rahul's hair with all the weapons in the world.

He enter the room and saw eleven other people in the room. Five of those people were the team captions like him who had been sent to search for Ashok. The rest were Rahul, Gaurav, Jasvinder, Upma, Neha and the two bodyguards she recently acquired.

He had to admit that the way those two stood still inside their defensive suits was kind of creepy even for him.

In fact, they stood so still that he wondered if the rumors about those two bodyguards were true.

Rumors that stated that those two bodyguards were abnormals in reality and Neha had gained some kind of power to control them.

'Pfft… Superstitious people.' He thought and removed such thoughts out of his mind.

"Now that everyone is here, we can start with this meeting." Ashok said and was about to start when one of the captions cut him off.

"What about your brother Rahul. Are we not going to search for him anymore." The caption asked and Rahul frowned at that. He did not liked the way that caption interrupted Rahul but let it go for the moment since this was something that he wanted to know as well.

"Ashok recently send us a message from his Black Watch and informed us that he is heavily injured but alive and that he'll meet us at Agra so you don't need to search for him anymore."

Rahul nodded his head at those words. Even if Ashok was injured, he was sure that Ashok would be able to take care of himself.

That thought was just strengthened by the fact that Rahul did not mention Ashok's name anymore throughout the entire meeting.

He was not very attached to Ashok, but realized that this was a good news.

After all, it's always a good thing to have more powerhouses in the team.

He wondered how strong Ashok would have become when they meet once again as Rahul finished the meeting and dismissed them out of the office.
