Hearing Kang Jun's straightforward words, Lu AnLing was worried that a fight was about to erupt.

The girl didn't know Secretary Rong but anyone would act in anger after being talked to in the way that Kang Jun spoke to him.

Also, the man seemed to be very close to Elder Kang. So if Secretary Rong didn't act out, Lu AnLing was sure that Elder Kang would.

But to her shock, Secretary Rong nodded and walked to the door. Meanwhile, Elder Kang said,

"Jun, could I speak to you in my office?"

Hearing this, Kang Jun turned towards Lu AnLing. When he did this, Lu AnLing beckoned him to go.

As soon as Kang Jun had left, Lu AnLing told the children to wait for her a second and then, Lu AnLing went after Secretary Rong.

As soon as she had heard his voice, Lu AnLing had had a strange feeling like she had met him once before. She did not know where, but his appearance and voice were something she remembered at the back of her mind.

Running over to him, Lu AnLing said, "Excuse me!"

Hearing this, Secretary Rong stopped in his tracks, right in front of the door. The man then turned to face Lu AnLing, face to face.

"If you want to apologize for him, it's quite alright," Secretary Rong said politely.

Lu AnLing shook her head. "No. That's not it..."

Lu AnLing was not going to apologize for Kang Jun's manners. The man was like that and knowing Kang Jun, he most likely had a reason for acting the way he did, so instead, Lu AnLing got right down to business.

Frowning slightly, Lu AnLing said, "Have we met before?"

Secretary Rong did not freeze or seem awkward. The man just smiled and said, "Maybe we've passed each other by once or twice. But I don't think we've ever truly met in the way you're referring."

Listening carefully to the man's words, Lu AnLing nodded. What he was saying was making sense but she could not shake the feeling that she had met him before. However, before the situation got a bit strange, Lu AnLing smiled.

"You're right... I'm sorry for the bother." Lu AnLing said calmly.

Secretary Rong shook his head. "It is not a bother, you're Kang Jun's wife and for that, I am at your survive."

Secretary Rong bowed slightly and then he pulled out a business card from his pocket and said, "Please call on me if there is anything you need."

Taking the business card, Lu AnLing no longer knew what to say or do, all she could do was allow him to leave.

After this, Lu AnLing went back to the children who obediently waited for her, as she had instructed of them. Lu AnLing then spent her time with them until Kang Jun finished talking with his grandfather.

When Lu AnLing saw Kang Jun, she asked for Rong Lihua to go bathe the two kids and then the girl brought Kang Jun to their room.

The room which they had at the Kang manor was much much larger than the one back at Kang Jun's house. But even so, the two did not use the extra space since they spent most of their time on the bed and this time was not any different.

Without saying a word, Lu AnLing brought Kang Jun to the bed and they both sat down. Without giving the man a second, Lu AnLing looked at him and asked,

"Did you get in trouble?"

Saying those words to Kang Jun felt a bit strange since Kang Jun was a man, not a child. No one could truly get him in trouble when it came to the way he acted with others but for some reason, today, Lu AnLing worried.

Seeing her slightly darkened face, Kang Jun took her hand in his.

"No. He just asked me to explain myself." Kang Jun said calmly. "That's all."

Kang Jun knew that Lu AnLing would not ask the same of him but to get everything out in the open, Kang Jun spoke once more. "I don't want anyone I don't trust in this house."

"So, you're going to kick your grandfather out of the house too?" Lu AnLing said with her eyebrows raised. The girl knew that Kang Jun didn't fully trust the old man. He was Kang Jun's family and he seemed nice but nice never meant that a person was trustworthy.

Lu AnLing had learned this the hard way with Madame Tang...

Kang Jun laughed. "No. I won't kick him out. I don't think my grandfather is untrustworthy. He simply doesn't know anything. Maybe when he was young he was sharp and intelligent but in his old age, my grandfather has become fairly soft..."

Hearing this, Lu AnLing just slowly nodded.

Wanting to get her mind off this situation, Kang Jun then said, "Did you contact your mother, yet?"

Lu AnLing looked at Kang Jun in the eyes and then she said, "Yes. She had a business trip this week, but we'll be sure to meet soon."

Listening carefully to her words, Kang Jun frowned slightly. "You seem a bit reluctant..."

Hearing this, Lu AnLing immediately looked up to Kang Jun with slight guilt. Seeing this, it was obvious that Lu AnLing had kept something from him.

Frowning, even more, Kang Jun's head throbbed slightly. He wanted to ask her straight if there was something she wasn't telling him but for some reason, he was afraid.

It took him a small while, but then, he said, "Are you afraid of telling me something?"

He did not know how to ease himself into a situation so he spoke how he usually did.

Hearing this, Lu AnLing looked away and froze, but realizing that it would be wrong of her to keep this from him, Lu AnLing said,

"If Yuxi is our daughter, should we really take her back?"

Hearing this, Kang Jun wasn't quite sure what to answer but for some reason, he felt anger and sadness wash through him.

What did she mean?

If the daughter that they had believed was dead was actually alive, of course, he would want to bring her to his side!

But was this a selfish though? Was Lu AnLing seeing something he wasn't? Trying his best to be calm, Kang Jun looked his wife in the eyes and asked,

"Why do you ask that?"
