Lu AnLing did not plan on staying with her mother for long, mostly after she noticed that she was easily beginning to forgive her mother for what she had done in the past.
It was strange and most probably wrong, but Lu AnLing did not want to forgive her mother. At least not quite yet. The woman should wallow a bit in her guilt and truly understand her wrongdoings. Due to Lu Xiaoling's actions, in the past, Lu AnLing had almost succeeded in killing herself, after all.
But the more Lu AnLing spent time with the woman, the more Lu AnLing's heart began to hurt when she saw her mom with a crestfallen expression.
Tired and sad of seeing it, Lu AnLing said, "Uncle Shen and Jun were talking last time about Yuxi having a play date with Mei Xue, and Mingyu. I think we should do it soon. I want to get to know my daughter, and I'm sure Jun wants to also."
Hearing this, Lu Xiaoling nodded. "That's a good idea. I'll ask Shen when he will have time to take them to you. Or do you want to have it in the Lu family home?"
Lu AnLing shook her head. "It'll be at Jun and my home. No offence but, I don't plan on stepping foot in that house ever again. This I promise you. I don't plan on getting close to the relatives either."
As soon as Lu AnLing had said this, Lu Xiaoling nodded. She knew that when Lu AnLing made promises she always kept her word and there was no changing her mind.
Lu Xiaoling could not do anything but sigh. "Alright, but what about your brother and sister? Will you never see them again?"
"I'll keep in touch with them, of course. Duyi is my heart and Shuya, will always be my sister..." Lu AnLing said as she looked down at the wine glass in front of her mother.
It was a blood red liquid which reminded Lu AnLing of blood. And in her mind, Lu AnLing couldn't help but think,
'I won't turn my back on my siblings... they're my blood....'
"I'm glad." As she said this, Lu Xiaoling's expression softened. The woman was glad that her children had each other to rely on if anything happened and as the older sister, Lu Xiaoling hoped that if anything ever happened, Lu AnLing would take care of her siblings. Lu Xiaoling knew this was unfair to wish for, but she couldn't help herself.
In the end, she could not give them the love they needed but she hoped that they could give this to each other.
Hearing Lu Xiaoling, say this, Lu AnLing could hear a strangeness in her voice. It was as if Lu Xiaoling was washing her hands clean of Lu AnLing, Lu Shuya and Lu Duyi and the possibility of this, which Lu AnLing found in Lu Xiaoling's tone, annoyed the girl.
So Lu AnLing swiftly moved to point an accusing finger at her mother. How dare she think that she could just leave her younger siblings to her and not take responsibility as their mother?!
Lu AnLing was going to give Lu Xiaoling a pierce of her mind but then, without meaning to, Lu AnLing's hand hit the wine bottle on the table, which caused it to topple over.
As if the glass fell in slow motion, Lu AnLing and Lu Xiaoling looked at it with complete and utter horror as if came crashing onto the floor.
Then, they both heard a voice shriek.
Close to their table, a woman in a pale green dress who had been walking to the bathroom was staring down at the stain on her dress.
"Are you serious?!" Tang Yiling screamed with complete annoyance.
Knowing the owner of the voice, Lu AnLing froze for a second. She didn't even turn to face her because Lu AnLing knew that if Tang Yiling saw her face, the situation would be blown out of proportion. So Lu AnLing remained quiet.
Meanwhile, Lu Xiaoling stood up and apologized to Tang Yiling. The woman even offered to clean Tang Yiling's dress or pay for the dry cleaning but hearing this, Tang Yiling looked down upon Lu Xiaoling and said,
"No, just back away from me. You've done enough!"
Hearing this, Lu Xiaoling backed off. They had already caused a scene and Lu Xiaoling did not want a bigger one to unfold. So it was best to just do as Tang Yiling wanted.
But then, a short man suddenly appeared and then he looked at Tang Yiling with worry.
"Miss Tang, are you alright? Are you hurt!?" The man said with true fear in his voice.
Looking at the man, Tang Yiling frowned.
"Don't worry owner, I'm not injured but my dress is ruined!" Tang Yiling whined as she pointed to her dress. And then, she pointed to Lu Xiaoling. "She's the one who did this."
Hearing this, the owner turned to Lu Xiaoling with anger and then he said, "Apologize."
Proud as could be, Lu Xiaoling frowned. She had no problem apologizing if they had made a mistake but Lu Xiaoling had already apologized enough and so, she would not repeat herself.
Looking at the man coldly, Lu Xiaoling frowned. "I already did."
Clearly not liking her response, the man's face turned black and then he spoke once more, "You should Apologize to Miss Tang until she accepts!"
Hearing the name 'Miss Tang' once more, Lu Xiaoling frowned.
'So this is the so-called replacement daughter...' Lu Xiaoling thought as she examined Tang Yiling.
As she did this, she wondered why Tang Yian, who had been with the girl all afternoon, wasn't there anymore...
Meanwhile, Feeling Lu Xiaoling's eyes on her, Tang Yiling felt like bugs were crawling on her skin so her face suddenly twisted and then she said, "What are you looking at? Don't you have any manners?!"
'Excuse me? Oh hell no!' Lu AnLing's mind cried out.
Hearing this, Lu AnLing couldn't take it anymore. So Lu AnLing slammed her hands on the table and then she turned to Tang Yiling with hate-filled eyes.
"Who are you to speak to my mother like that?" Lu AnLing sneered. "She already apologized and to begin with, I was the one who dropped the wine bottle. And FYI, it was an accident."
