Chapter 36: Welcome to my house

Editor: EndlessSkyRain

“…that…”

We were almost at home when the merchant, An-chan, raised her voice quizzically.

“A child?”

The Kaichou also raised his voice quizzically.

Don’t think about it, feel it. The sensor has an effective range of up to a hundred meters. It’s possible to detect if you’re familiar with the magic power, but if there are many people (magic power) or obstacles (things with magic power), you won’t be able to tell, but it’s a sensor that feels like it’s more convenient to have than not.

When I looked in the direction where the magic power could be felt, Touta was about to come towards me while jumping around.

“Aah, that’s my brother.”

“Little brother?”

I don’t know why it was a question, but I said it was.

“……..Ah, that. What, the hell was that…….?”

“Wind Magic.”

So, simply, I’m telling you the truth.

“Magic? No, you still… look like you’re five or six years old…”

“Aah. You see, I’m five.”

“You’re using magic at five years old?! Ah, no, it’s happening right in front of me. This must be the truth, but I can’t honestly believe it…”

Well, that’s right.

The kids in the village also learn simple fire magic from around the age of twelve, and magic is just like learning. It’s common knowledge in this era that it’s something you learn at school.

“…Who-who taught you magic?”

“It’s me.”

I answer that honestly, but I don’t get a response. What happened?

“…be-be-Bei, where did you learn that?”

“It was self-taught.”

I didn’t get another response.

By the time I entered the grounds, I met up with Touta.

“Thanks for your help. Are you hurt?”

I asked Touta, who landed lightly on Rifael’s back.

“None. I’m super fine.”

He chuckled at his brother who mimicked his brother’s tone of voice.

Even though he was a super toddler, he was still five years old. He was still at an age when he wanted to be pampered, and it was a time when he wanted to be imitated. He was such a cute little brother.

“You’ll hear about it later. Tell Sapuru we’ve got a visitor.”

“Un.”

He jumped down from Rifael with a monkey-faced ease and bounced back to the house with a pitter-patter.

“…Ho-How did you know about magic…?”

“Well, you can’t find anyone to teach you magic in a place like this in the middle of nowhere, so you have to do it on your own.”

“No, magic isn’t something that you could just learn by yourself. What’s that?!”

“I’m an inventive person. If you can do it, you can do it. If I can do it, I can do it. Don’t be afraid to fail.”

“Dana, you’re…”

I’m an ordinary person among ordinary people. I don’t need to come up with theories later. You can twist it into something else. I made it because I had it. If you do it, you’ve done it. It’s good that we succeeded, isn’t it?

Meanwhile, we arrived at the corral and got out of the coach’s seat.

“An-chan, there’s a visitor?”

Sapuru and Okan came out of the house.

“Ah. There’s a great merchant under the sun, but he can do it like a peddler’s anchor. Also, have you started preparing dinner yet?”

“Un. I thought we’d have dumplings today.”

“Oh, dumplings. I can’t wait for it. Well, I’ll make a barley porridge. Just get the oldest one out of the granary. Okan, go and prepare the room for me. Touta, go and prepare the bath.”

Everyone was used to it since we were staying with the peddler, An-chan. I immediately got to work.

“Kaichou-san and others. I’m sorry, Kaichou-san, but can you just stay around and watch until we’re ready?”

“Ah, that’s all right. It’s all very interesting stuff, so take your time.”

Well, that’s why I invited you here, to see to your heart’s content.

“Anyway, welcome to my home.”
