Chapter 8






Jin chuckled at her remark and Ruby just giggled.

"Hey!" Jaune exclaimed with an annoyed look.

"Ahh! I'm sorry!....Ruby. Call me Ruby."

"My name's Jeff.....I mean Jin."

Soon, the trio were walking around Beacon Academy. They were in area that are filled with scenic trees, arching architecture, and a winding road alongside a circular pond.

"All I'm saying is that motion sickness is a much more common problem than people let on!" Jaune ranted.

"Look, I'm sorry! Vomit Boy was the first thing that came to mind." Ruby said while giggling.

"Oh, yeah? What if I called you Crater Face?" Jaune said to her causing Jin to laugh a little.

"Hey, that explosion was an accident!" Ruby said before turning to Jin who was laughing at the nickname.

"Sup.....Crater Face....HAHAHAHA!"

Ruby just groaned at this. She just hoped that Yang never hears this.

"Well, the name's Jaune Arc! Short, sweet, rolls off the tongue, ladies love it!" Jaune said with full confidence.

Ruby looks skeptical while Jin just gave him deadpan look.

"Do they?" The twins asked in curious/questioning tone.

'Boi, you ain't got charm like mine!' Jin mentally sneered.

"They will! Well, I-I hope they will.....I think my mom always says that.....Never mind." Jaune said while feeling awkward. Jin just patted his back in comfort, which Jaune appreciated.

Ruby giggles, a short, awkward silence takes place before she spoke again. "So....I got this thing!" Ruby pulls out Crescent Rose and stabs it into the ground.

Jaune jump in surprised, "Whoa! Is that a scythe?" He asked.

"It's also a customizable high-impact sniper rifle!"

"A-wha...?"

Ruby cocks the weapon while smiling. "It's also a gun."

"Oh. That's cool!" Jaune said before turning to Jin, "How about you?"

Jin just pulled out his Red-edged black Katana, and Jaune was surprised at seeing the weapon sparking with some kind of red energy.

(Authors Note: It looked like Project Yasou Sword from League of Legends, but with different colors, and the same goes for his sheath. Just look it up to get a good idea on what it looks like.)

"Woah…..That's a cool sword!" Jin nodded at his compliment before putting the sword back into the shiny black sheathe on his left waist.

"Jin calls it 'Mythic Edge', I helped him in designing that weapon." Ruby explained to Jaune. Jaune just nodded and Jin looked at Ruby.

'Yeah, and I had to steal some of the materials from Atlas in order to make it look like this. Oh boy! I enjoyed that heist!'

"So what've you got?" Ruby asked Jaune.

"Oh! I, uh..." Jaune unsheathes a blade "I got this sword!"

"Ooooohh!" Ruby said awe while Jim was appraising the blade.

"Yeah, and I've got a shield, too!" Jaune said as he gets his scabbard, he raises his arm and it expands into a shield.

Ruby touched the shield, "So, what do they do?"

Jaune fumbled with the shield as it retracts off his arm, expands, and retracts again before properly holding it and finally shrinks it down for good. "The shield gets smaller, so when I get tired of carrying it, I can just... put it away..."

"But.....wouldn't it weight the same?" Jin asked.

"Yeah, it does..." Jaune said dejectedly.

"Well, hehe, I'm kind of a dork when it comes to weapons, sooo....I guess I did go a little overboard when designing it." Ruby said as she caressed her Scythe.

"Wait.....you made that?! Yourself?!" Jaune said as he pointed at Crescent Rose.

"Of course! All students at Signal forge their own weapons! Didn't you make yours?"

"It's a hand-me-down. My great-great-grandfather used it to fight in the war."

"Sounds more like a family heirloom to me!" Ruby said with a few laughs before continuing, "Well, I like it! Not many people have an appreciation for the classics these days."

"Yeah, the classics..." Jaune said while sheathing his sword.

"Besides it might be a good thing Jaune." Jin suddenly talked with his eyes closed.

"Why do you say that?" Jaune asked curiously.

"Some weapons that has been passed down has some kind of secret message from their ancestors, or have some great powers hidden in them. You never know! Your sword might be some kind of a Holy Sword or something." Jin said, Jaune brightened up upon hearing this.

"Hmmm." Ruby looks around and said, "Hey, where are we going?"

"Oh, I don't know! I was just following you around." Jaune replied.

"Don't worry, I know where the ceremony is being held. Just follow me." Jin said as he lead the way and two followed him.

The trio arrived at Beacon Academy's giant auditorium, filled to the brim with people. Ruby looks around until she hears Yang's voice.

"Ruby! Jin! Over here! I saved you a spot!" Yang called out as she waved her a hand for the twins to see her.

"Oh! Hey, W-we gotta go! I'll see you after the ceremony!" Ruby said as she ran towards to Yang.

"Smell ya later Jaune." Jin said as he followed Ruby.

"So, you two, how's your first day going?" Yang asked as she looks at the two, only to receive a glare from Ruby and a poker face from Jin.

"Oh, nothing much! Except to that fact that Ruby exploded." Jin said in a casual tone.

"Yikes! Meltdown already?" Yang asked.

"No, I literally exploded a hole in front of the school! And there was some fire, and I think some ice...?"

Yang was smiling broadly and asked, "Are you being sarcastic?"

Ruby just scoffs and continued, "I wish! I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage, and then she yelled at me, and then I sneezed, and then I exploded, and then she yelled at me again, and I felt really, really bad, and I just wanted her to stop yelling at me!"

"Um Rubes?" Jin said as his eyes landed at Weiss, who was behind her. But Ruby ignored him and Weiss was now glaring at Ruby.

"You!" Weiss yelled at Ruby, who quickly jumped into her Yang's arms.

"Oh, God, it's happening again!"

"You're lucky we weren't blown off the side of the cliff!"

"Oh, my God, you really exploded..." Yang said with a surprised look on her face.

Ruby gets down from Yang arms and looks at Weiss, "It was an accident. It was an accident!"

Weiss just holds up a pamphlet titled 'Dust for dummies and other Inadequate Individuals' to Ruby "What's this?"

"The Schnee Dust Company is not responsible for any injuries or damages sustained while operating a Schnee Dust Company product. Although not mandatory....." Weiss rambled on with a long policy speech, and to Ruby, it was really fast and her voice was squeaky.

Jin and Yang just look at Weiss in slight awe at how Weiss memorized that stupid policy.

"Uuhhh...?"

"You really wanna start making things up to me?" Weiss asked.

"Absolutely?" Ruby replied.

Weiss handed the pamphlet to Ruby and said, "Read this, and don't ever speak to me again!"

"Like that's gonna help." Jin muttered under his breath, but unfortunately Weiss heard him and turned to his direction.

"YOU!" Weiss yelled angrily at him.

"Nice to see you too." Jin said in a sarcastic tone, which only pissed her off more.

"I'm going to-....."

"Look, uh, it sounds like you three just got off on the wrong foot. Why don't you start over and try to be friends, okay?" Yang said as she cuts Weiss off.

She knew that Weiss was just going to scream at her brother and her brother would only try to piss the girl off more and she really doesn't want to see that. This would just cause a headache for her.

"Yeah! Great idea, sis!" Ruby said as she puts the pamphlet away before clearing up her throat and reaching out her hand for a handshake.

"Hello Weiss! I'm Ruby! Wanna hang out? We can go shopping for school supplies!"

Weiss speaks with a sarcastic voice. "Yeah! And we can paint our nails and try on clothes and talk about cute boys, like tall and dark handsome over there?"

Weiss pointed at Jin, who just look at her with a raised brow.

"Really?!" Ruby asked in suprised.

Weiss just gave a glare and replied, "No."

"Wow, I never thought I was able to capture the interest of you, Princess." Jin spoke out.

"Quiet you! And what do mean by that?" Weiss asked and Jin gave her an amused smile.

"You describe me as a tall and handsome guy. Are you perhaps interested in having a date with me?" Jin said with his playboy smile.

'He's in his playboy mode, I wonder how this girl will react. Hehehe, she's gonna have a really 'fun' time in this school.' Yang thought while having an amused face.

Ruby was uncomfortable in how her brother was looking at Weiss and her face slowly turned into an annoyed expression.

Weiss had a good look on Jin's smiling face and then at his moderately open chest, her face then turned red as she letted out stuttering sounds.

"W-Wh-W-Wha-Wh-a-t..."
