Chapter 14

***

When Adelaide arrived, Boraca jumped out of his golden chair and greeted her with a bright face.

“Oh, you’re here! Adelaide!”

“Good morning, Master.”

“Yeah, yeah. Good morning, of course! You’re so…….”

His lustful eyes swept Adelaide up and down again. It looked like saliva was about to fall out of his open mouth.

Drip. He really drooled.

“You’re so pretty.”

How can demons be so consistent?

Adelaide smiled softly, holding back the patheticness that filled her throat.

“Oh my, thank you! You look like a real master today!”

“What does that mean?”

“Well, I mean you look dignified!”

In fact, it meant she was unlucky. Adelaide hid her true feelings in a pretty smile. Unaware of this, Boraca smiled contentedly as he widened his shoulders and puffed his chest out.

“Come on, sit down first.”

“Yes? There is no place to sit.”

“Here, you can sit next to me.”

Boraca tapped beside him. The golden chair he sat on was large enough for two people to sit.

If she refused, there would be an uproar, so Adelaide cursed in her mind and sat as far away from him as possible.

But despite her efforts, Boraca moved his hips and approached her. Their skins brushed briefly.

Flinch. Adelaide’s body shivered reflexively and struggled to maintain her smile.

“The reason why I called you today is, I want to conduct an interview before signing the contract.”

“What kind of interview is this?”

“Well, you’re a demon who will soon join us, but come to think of it, I don’t know your level of ability. You used to be in Morpheus, but I haven’t the slightest idea, are you a good worker or not?”

She thought he would say something frivolous, but his words were more plausible than she expected. It was a natural right as the dungeon master to test the abilities of the demons he was going to be affiliated with.

‘Did you contact Morpheus?’

Adelaide rolled her eyes and glanced at Boraca. If he did, he’ll find out that she didn’t work for decades, let alone do her job well.

“When I contacted Morpheus and asked him, I couldn’t believe it.”

Phew. Adelaide sighed in relief. She didn’t know why he didn’t trust them, but if he didn’t believe them, then it’s a good thing for her.

But unfortunately she didn’t have a good plan.

“As the owner, I have a duty to know for sure.”

Eek. Adelaide’s expression hardened. There was a feeling of bugs crawling on her thigh. As she looked down, she saw chubby fingers touching her thigh.

“Why don’t you just prove yourself to me?”

Boraca grinned. His smile was far creepier than Carat’s smile that she’d seen before.

She wanted to punch him in the face right away. She had an urge to break that hand that secretly swept her thigh and poke his disgusting eyes.

But Adelaide couldn’t.

From the very day she decided not to work any more, she became a loyal underdog in the demon realm and accepted all the pain that came with it. Her patience in such a dirty situation was just one of those she had to endure.

Unless you had power, of course you had to live through it.

So Adelaide smiled again. She blinked her eyes beautifully, she forced her stiff lips to form a smile.

“This is embarrassing. Isn’t my appearance enough proof?”

She moved her fair hand and caressed his cheek. Her pink pupils were revealed between her long black eyelashes as her eyes slowly fluttered.

Boraca swallowed without realizing it.

She just blinked, but he was already thrilled. He felt like he was secretly peeking at something private.

“Of course, it’s a given when it comes to your appearance.… But you still have to demonstrate to make it clear.

Apparently, Boraca had no intention of backing down. On the contrary, more strength was put on the hand that rested on her thigh.

She shouldn’t have turned him on. Adelaide silently clicked her tongue. Then she quickly rolled her eyes and scanned his entire office.

They weren’t the only ones there. The rustling sound that could be heard from the piled high treasures was proof of that.

The owner of the harsh snores was lying not too far away. It was three times larger than Adelaide, and was a demon with large thorns protruding all over its skin.

It was probably the escort that Lisianthus spoke of. He was said to be a powerful person close to a high level demon.

“There’s another demon too, so I’m ashamed.”

“That escort is doing a job of preventing other demons from invading. We’re close so we don’t care about things like this. Besides, it’s not that we’re going to do anything weird, it’s the process of testing your abilities, so what about it?”

“Don’t you think so too, Adela?” Boraca whispered in her ear.

Adelaide just smiled and remained silent. In a brief moment, a number of options popped into her mind.

‘Number 1. Run away today after saying I’m shy.’

That would be impossible.

Having his escort here meant that he has really made up his mind. To stop Adelaide from escaping or to prevent Lisianthus from breaking in.

‘Number 2. Just drop everything and go back. It would be better if I get to punch him in the face while quitting.’

Of course, this was also an impossible choice.

If she were to tell him that she didn’t want to sign now, there’s no way Boraca would let her go. He’ll get what he wants, through force or other means.

There were no good options. Since she was weak, she could only choose the lesser evil.

She hasn’t signed a contract yet, so it’ll be fine. Adelaide smiled sadly as she thought of this. She had forgotten her own situation for a moment. Intoxicated with a stable and comfortable life, she fell in love with the kindness of Lisianthus by her side. It was foolish of her to be optimistic.

“Well then, Adela. Prove it.”

Boraca asked with a smirk. It was like a command. If things went wrong here, not only will she suffer, but Lisianthus as well. She’ll probably get caught by that big demon and be beaten to death.

It was a job that she had to endure to the end.

So Adelaide slowly lowered her eyes. Her slender fingers pointed to the buttons on her jacket.

It was at that moment.

“No.”

A vicious energy erupted from beside them.

“I’ll do it.”

When the cold voice reached her ear, Adelaide turned her head in surprise.

Lisianthus approached unnoticed and stood close to her. He had a scary look on his face that she had never seen before.

“How did you……!”

“Shouldn’t you check my abilities as well? I’m the older brother, so I’ll do it first.”

Lisianthus cut off Boraca’s words in one breath. Then, he skillfully unbuttoned his shirt. Since there was no hesitation in his hand movements, his bare body was immediately revealed.

“I-I don’t need you, get lost!”

“You don’t need to see?”

“Yes! You’re not my type!”

“I’m sorry. However, even if I am not the Master’s type, work is a whole different thing, so why not check it out?”

Lisianthus thrust his face towards Boraca. His relaxed smile was beautiful as always, but there was something twisted about it.

He continued to speak while in front Boraca’s face with a cold gaze.

“If I’m a capable demon, or not.”

His voice that cut off every word was ferocious. At that moment, Boraca made a face saying, “Ahaha.”

“Your master is not like that, so let’s stop wasting time.”

Lisianthus was suddenly half-naked. Unlike his neat and beautiful face, his body was full of strong muscles. As proof of his rough life, there were many scars on him.

He knelt down in front of the chair without listening to Boraca’s answer. He looked like he was ready to strike at any moment.

“I don’t have to enter your dream, right? I will do it right away.”

Lisianthus secretly whispered in Boraca’s ear. With one hand, he skillfully untied his buckle.

“N-No! I don’t need it!”

“Yes?”

Boraca screamed, his ears red to the tip. He hurriedly spit out his words as if he was afraid of Lisianthus taking off his pants.

“I don’t need it! You don’t have to! Just get out of here!”

Thud! Boraca roughly pushed Lisianthus’ body. The movement was big, but the distance he was pushed back was not that far.

“Oh, that’s too bad. I just wanted to show you my potential.”

“Get lost! Right now!”

“If you need to test our proficiency at any time, please call me first. As an older brother, I simply cannot lose to my sister.”

I get jealous a lot. Lisianthus added briefly with a bright smile.

“Let’s go, Adela.”

“Huh? Yes!”

Adelaide, who had been watching what was happening next to her with a puzzled face, came to her senses and responded quickly. Lisianthus helped her get up with a gentle touch.

They moved quickly and entered the portal. Looking at the back of the two tall demons disappearing, Boraca gritted his teeth.

Dururung- Puu-

Only Adolf’s snores, the demon hired by Boraca as an escort, lingered in the spacious room. Eventually, Boraca could not stand it and screamed.

“Adolf! What the hell are you doing?! Aren’t you going to wake up yet?”

“Ugh…Hmm? Oh man, I fell asleep.”

He couldn’t believe that he slept without knowing who came and went. Boraca was stunned and laughed in vain. He was a valuable talented person and had a pretty close relationship with himself, but was negligent with work.

“Even if you doze off, you have to do what you have to do! How come you didn’t wake up when there was such a loud noise?!”

“Stop yapping, Boraca. It’s just once in a while. Sometimes I make mistakes.”

“Uggh……!”

Boraca was bubbling with a face full of anger, but Adolf responded lightly. He knew very well that he wouldn’t be able to fire him anyway. Boraca kept him close because he liked him in many ways.

However there was one thing he was very curious about…

‘I fell asleep this deep? I didn’t even sense the people that came and went?.

He would quickly wake up when he senses something strange even when he was asleep. He has never made a mistake like this before.

‘I must have been very tired. Boraca bothered me a little yesterday. Looks like I’ll have to sleep all day.’

However, as a strong demon, he lay down again without any worries.
