Anticipation.
Loleil throws both her hands at the side of her face, blocking a devastating blow from Miya's incoming jab that makes a breeze of air rush past her locks.
The impact causes Loliel to stumble back and lose her footing, but Miya continues to take the initiative and launch forward with a backward-facing kick.
Loleil shields her abdomen as the kick connects, making her stumble back once more. She then looks up into the air with Miya coming down with a thrown-out leg. Miya performs a swift set of bicycle kicks, which Loleil scarcely blocks.
Miya then finishes with a staggering kick, making Loleil's knees buckle and face wince as a ring of air forms around them.
Loleil latches onto Miya's leg and attempts to hurl her away. However, Miya grabs her arm and wraps her feet around Loliel’s upper torso, immobilizing her opponent.
With one of her limbs locked, Loleil knees fall to the floor. She throws multiple punches at Miya's face, but they're all evaded by the last-minute tilts of her head.
Miya then, using her other arm, holds onto Loleil's incoming fist with a sneer. Loleil grits her teeth and raises Miya into the air and comes down toward the floor with increasing speed.
Miya lets go of Loleil's hand and catches herself on the floor before she could land. She then pivots on her palm and uses the momentum to throw Loleil over her body, delivering a powerful kick to her face as she's still airborne.
Loleil punches the ground and slows her momentum, blowing a lock of hair from in front of her face.
Miya lets out an earsplitting wail, shaking the glass around the room as she gets on all fours and sprints toward Loleil.
Loleil stands from the ground and takes a deep breath, opening her eyes as Miya appears at her front in a blur with a fist only a few inches from her face. The tip of Loliel's nose is grazed by Miya’s knuckles as she ducks down and clenches both her fists beneath her face.
She then delivers a barrage of jabs to Miya’s abdomen then moving up to her neck and face, causing Miya’s body to jolt with each landing punch. Miya takes a step back and gasps balling up her fist with an enraged yell.
Before she could throw her hand forward, Loleil spins around and swings her elbow into Miya’s cheek causing her to topple across the floor. Loleil runs over to her and grabs her by the hood, slamming Miya over her head and back onto the ground.
Loleil then lifts Miya up by the scruff of her hair and delivers several punches to her face before kicking her away.
Adelae and Maxim exchange glances with each other, with Kyamyo stepping beside Ashihei while tapping her fingers together.
“Erm… Should we stop this, Dr. Yamauchi…? It’s getting kind of one-sided now. Heh heh…” Kyamyo suggests with a nervous chuckle.
Ashihei continues to gaze down at Loleil with narrowed eyes behind his clear glasses.
Miya wipes a trail of blood running from her nose, the rest of her face full of scars and swollen with a large purple bump above her left eye.
Loleil walks forward, cracking her fingers with a chuckle. “You have persistence I give you that, but that alone won’t give you any survivability.”
“You can talk big… Huff… After you stop punching… Huff… Like a little girl.”
Loleil’s eyes give off an azure glare as she runs forward. Miya blows a blood clot from her nose and snorts, striding forward with her hands lowered to her sides.
They then crash into each other, interlocking fingers as they fight to overpower each other with raw strength. Miya winds her head back and knocks it into Loleil’s face, making her step back with blood oozing from her nose.
Loleil and Miya then deliver a heavy punch to each other’s cheek, making them both stagger back. Despite both of their ears ringing and the taste and smell of blood every time they breathed, they continued to thrash eachother with blow after blow.
“… What’s going on? Who’s down there?”
Adelae and Maxim look to the entrance hatch of the spectator room sliding down, with both Vivi and Koko walking in and staring down through the open window.
Maxim squints down and widens his eyes. “Hey check it out! The Captain is smilin’ down there!”
All of the spectators look at Loleil grinning alongside Miya as they continue exchanging blows.
“She’s never gone this all-out in our spars…” Maxim pouts.
Koko laughs and puts a hand on his shoulder. “Guess you weren’t a challenge for her, Maxikins. But down there, she’s finally found someone she can let loose on.”
“Hey, you guys know what this reminds me of?” Maxim puts a hand on his chin as if he was deep in thought. “Yeaah, reminds me of when she used to fight with… Fight with, uh…”
The entire room goes silent, with Adelae and Kyamyo giving Maxim a cold glare.
He rubs the back of his head and looks over to Vivi then Ashihei.
“I didn’t mean to… S-sorry…”
“Hey look!” Koko blurts, breaking the silence while pointing back down at the arena.
The group turns their attention to Miya now on the outside of the arena. Loliel looks down to her still standing in the middle of the podium, wiping a bit of blood dripping from her lip with a short breath.
“If you think that you can use merely a title to command others, you’re obviously been living quite the privileged life before you came here.”
Miya balls her fists up at her sides, her face pinned to the ground.
Loliel turns around with a chuckle. “Such a disappointment.”
“What… What did you just say?”
Loliel turns her face around, looking at Miya now standing on her feet. She then nods her head and takes another step toward the exit of the room.
Miya eyes widen with a small red glare sparkling from her pupils. She darts up the podium and slams into Loliel’s backside and knocks her to the ground. She then topples onto Loliel clenching a fist above her face.
Loliel stares into her eyes, looking back between them and Miya’s trembling hand.
